Thanks so much for this. I just ordered a replacement remote and couldn't figure out how to pair it to my grandmas TV. The things we do for grandma's. Direct TV said those codes for that remote were removed that they were "obsolete" and it works perfectly. Since she doesn't like the little remote.
I was not able to get it to work so I tried another guy's advice on here and he explained exactly what you did except when the tv goes on, he then explained to push the SELECT button, then the PWR button that is right above the stop button, and it worked great.

I am using a Vizio for anyone who is having the same problem. stop as soon as the tv pops on and press select. no need to press up to turn it back off.

Do you know how to change the input of the tv? I found a Sansui on the side of the road, and want to try to play my ps3 on it and need to change the input.

Worked great, except I had to use the channel up button to get it to turn on. Took me a couple of tries and after hitting the down button the first time, I just started hitting the up and down buttons. Do you know if this will work on other brands of remotes? They know about that, they program it for you, and it tells you how to do it. It doesn't turn both .on and off with the switch on tv. Only some codes turn both on and off.
Hi Kevin. On most of the videos it was shown that the mode switch should be on the TV side. But on the same videos, as this one, after entering the code, I noticed that the switch is already on the left. I am just confused why slide to TV and then back to DTV. Would appreciate your help.
Had to follow instructions but with TV ON first and had to push select after code then the power button right above stop button for my TV. ..guess u have to find the way that works for your TV

use code 11758 if you have the vizio 4k tv.... so press mute+select until the 2 green lights, press 11758 and it's done.

Sir sounds like you have a legacy receiver if you press 991-0 and use channel up and down to cycle through the codes it should find a match
