Thanks for trying my Dad's beef noodles at J&J, and I'm glad you liked it. 🙂 Although Dad is quite fastidious when it comes to hygiene at his stall, in general we don't leave food directly on the tray for someone to try. It's like leaving it on the table; it's not hygienic and not socially acceptable in Asia. He would've given you a small sharing bowl if you asked. Cheers!
@@merlin5045 Yeah. It was lucky no one got sick. The first thing anyone would have thought of would've been the food making them sick, instead of where the food was placed. That would've been bad for my Dad.
This video was so wholesome. wonderful family and thank you for being so open-minded to try various types of food while juggling a camera and 3 kids. You seem like a wonderful dad, always offering forest to try some and not forcing /pushing him into anything he doesnt want.

Oh…for most good hawker Centers, u shud go there in the morning…cos this hawker Center, maxwell, Chinatown, the good ones starts as early as 4am, n close at 12pm…n if business is good esp on the weekends, the business might end as early as 11am….try the prawn soup noodle, fried Hokkien noodles, fried kway teow, fried carrot cake (black n white), Laksa, lor mee (noodles), herbal pork ribs soup, wanton noodles, for Muslim food u can try the Geylang Serai market in the morning till 12pm, and for afternoon u can try Newton circle or Chinatown claypot rice or Chomp Chomp for BBQ stuffs😊🫰🫶👍🥰pleasure to see y’all enjoying Singapore food 🥰🫰🫶👍
Hello from Singapore! It was really fun to watch you guys eat our food! The red sausages in the Char Kuay Teow are called "Lup Cheong" and they are basically chinese sausages, same as the ones in the Amy Yip bao in the kids' videos. The little chewy stuff are cockles, there is no beef in there though. Next time you visit you can try the sliced fish soup XO Hua Ji, alongside Roast Paradise. I think little Forest might like it. There are fried and non-fried versions. BTW don't put food directly on the tray or table, as they are not exactly clean, you can ask for an extra bowl from the hawkers. They will be happy to oblige. Where are you going next?
Hi ChilliCrab! Thank you so much for all the tips and yummy suggestions! We absolutely love traveling in Singapore! :-) We'll head to Malaysia after Singapore.
Love how both of you are great parents and educators. Your kids are adventurous, curious and appreciative. It's not easy being out in the hot weather for a long time but they take it in their stride and follow your lead. Thank you for exploring Singapore and one of the well-loved food centres here.
You can inform the bus captain were you want to go, IE the landmark for the bus stop, and the bus driver will tell you where to get off, they are quite nice to tourist in my opinion.
I love your humor whenever you talk to the kids. The apple juice remark as Forest was stabbing the apple made me laugh out loud. Too bad Kelly didn't get to try the food there. Maybe next time!
Thank you so much! Kelly is doing great. The food was quite delicious at the Old Airport Road Food Centre. Soon, we'll head to Little India in Singapore. :-) Thank you for your financial support. It means a lot to our family.
The Old Airport Road Food Centre is one of the oldest in Singapore, popular with the locals. You were lucky that you were there during the day. It gets crowded during dinnertime.. And it gets crazy on weekends when you will likely spend more time looking for seats and/or standing in line to place an order for food. Glad that you enjoyed your meals .
Been watching every of your videos more than once, hope to see you n your family in Singapore some time. Will definitely say hi if I ever bump into you guys here, stay safe!!!!
I was there like 1.5 weeks ago. You missed the juice stall at the entry on the left. IMO, much nicer and more different juices. Enjoy your stay in Singapore. I’m now viewing your vids of Bali for I’m there at the moment.
Hi Just watched your video and I am glad you enjoyed our food. Just a quick suggestion - get a napkin (either from your hotel or buy a pack from convenience store) and use that to put your food instead of the tray/table in the hawker centre. The problem is because those trays may not be washed and tables are not wiped with detergent. BTW you went to the right hawker centre. They have a lot of excellent food.
The black fried rice noodles from "Lao Fu Zi" is called "char kueh teow", does not contain beef. It has cockles (clams), fish cakes, and chinese sausages. Just a word of caution, leaving food on the tray for Forest is not recommended as the tray is generally not washed after each use but just "wiped dry".
Old airport road hawker centre is a very popular eatery and peak hours are full house so seats are vrry hard to get . But if the stalls are fully open, its food galore and spoilt for choice. Lor mee or glutinous noodle is great choice.
Go to tekka market and geylang serai market over the weekends in the morning. Then walk at second floor for both to experience the various vendors sellings traditional clothes
Personally, I prefer the crispy roast pork over the char siew. Do try the beach road prawn noodles at east coast! :) ps: do refrain from putting food n cutlery on tray cos it's not clean. Can ask for extra plates when sharing food.
Very interesting videos with your beautiful kids. Really smart and independent. BTW, the hawker centers you always see half the stalls closed because of cheap rentals, so the stalls could operate just single shifts, say lunch or dinner or even supper.
Its great your kids are adventurous enough to try these local food with you. Might take a while for them. Asian food has loads of flavors and the range is super wide.
Buses do not stop at stops if there is no one at the stop, so you can actually get the driver to remind you where you need to drop. Not sure which day you want to the hawker centre but usually Monday is the day where alot of hawkers take a day break after the busy weekend. You forgot Forest does not like sugarcane juice from your last trip here. 😅 Char kway teow has clams, chinese sausages, beansprouts stir fried with dark soya sauce generally. That last bowl of noodles you had gotten, is Vietnamese noodles in case you are unaware. The cakes & pastries are pretty old school. Tau sar is actually bean paste.
Kallang food market is a food paradise and lots of food variety can be found there..depending on what time you are there coz some stalls will open later in the day... Any you have come to the right place to savor local food, enjoy it...
@@BagsPackedFamily hope everybody can go little India and Chinatown to roam around and taste the affordable local hawker centres and eateries there. Won't disappoint 🤞
Hi, Great to see u and family exploring our heartlands hawker centres. U should try our economic rice mixed veg stalls. U order rice and the dishes which for rice plus 1 meat & 2 veg would be in the region of S$3.50 to S$4.00. Do note that a pc of fried fish would cost u about S$4. Also when ordering veg do check if there are mince pork or diced chicken in them the charges are more expensive than pure stir fry veg.
The sweet and salty mashed beans pastry (Tau Sa Piah) that you bought for Kelly may not be vegetarian. The traditional method is to use lard for the oil dough to achieve the flaky texture of the pastry. Some bakers may substitute the lard with butter or vegetable oil or shortening.
Really love watching your videos, and your kids are so amazing! It’s so good that your family are so into local food, but please please, don’t leave food on the trays. Those trays are filthy! Always get a spare plate or bowl, so that you can rest the cutlery on them. Enjoy the rest of your stay in Singapore, and wishing speedy recovery to your wife!

Hi Roger. Thank you so much for the suggestion. :-)
In Asia, always use chopsticks with a spoon, especially for noodle dishes! The spoon will support the noodles that slipped off.
