........ Bad News Story, not happy viewing..........
Lots of older men are lonely and unhappy even in their own home country, it’s an epidemic of male misery. I’m a retired therapist.
The reasons hmm that’s harder, as so many unique variables to consider. There are themes: identity/ego/self image, hormones/fitness, past sorrows, life regrets etc. I’ve noticed the happiest retired men find activities that have a social element, like Golf or Walking or volunteering for charities. Many men like to hang out with other similar guys, they like the ‘banter’ the feeling of belonging.
Hello Bonin, as an older man, and a lifetime searcher for meaning and purpose of life, l found living in Thailand was an interesting experence, The removal of the seeking approval ,and therefore the possibility of sex, plus the healthy food, healthy weather, affordable genuine massage(remembering my body is old and worn) in brief, sex and money were no longer a factor in my happiness. That freed me up to consider what is important in life, in conclusion, good friends, good health, and meeting interesting people, and most importantly, keeping a good heart.
Cheers Bonin, and have a rewarding journey.

some people have mental problems and often when you have a mental problem you wanna escape in one way or the other. one way is to take drugs or drink, but this is not that healthy. so other people escape their countrys to try to find happiness other places. but the fact is, your mental problems doesnt dissapear because you travel to thailand, they follow you unfortunatly. i know cause i got social anxiety. im have a good job in a social inviroment and earn good money, but people judge me for being akward and a bit avoiding of people. i dont know what to say mate even when im trying. that is pushing depression in the picture. so dont judge people. every one has their reasons mate.
Hi thanks for your comment, everything you say is so true, and when you are in thailand and have some money you will have many friends, l think you aer similar to me, outside l appear confident, but inside I feel inferior and full of self doubt. Buddhism and the teachings of Buddah have given me some real rules for a happy life, not the wats, but the original teachings of Budda.
Thailand and Thai culture has been a real eye-opener for me, especialy rural Thai, away from the tourism,, ok l am rattling on, enjoy every day, the sun the smells and th smiles, cheers my friend.
G'day Wally from another ex-Colac boy. I've been living in the West for the last forty years, still miss the old place that's how I found your video. I think you're worrying about nothing. You are always gonna find grumpy old farts where ever you go. I'm probably one of them sometimes. I've never been brave enough (or rich enough) to travel overseas. I'm a 73yo and never been out of Australia. After looking at videos of Asia there is no way I would eat their food, cats, dogs, who knows? And who would drink that cats piss they call beer? What if you got crook? probably finish up dead in one of their "hospitals". Sorry if I sound negative but you can't beat Australia. Why do so many of them come over here? Melbourne looks like Singapore now. Perth looks like a suburb of India. It never was like that when I grew up in Colac.
All the best Wally enjoy what you're doing and don't trouble yourself with other people's problems. Cheers mate, JD. 😉
Hi John, Yea mate its a funny world,I never wanted to travel overseas, My Ex wife badgered me into a holiday to Thailand, Wow did it open my eyes, Yep Melbourne is so Multicultural i feel like the tourist, Asia is so many countries , some are shockers, some are fantastic, But I do Love Thailand, The people , the food, the Medical and dental is better than in Australia, and as an older person you are not INVISIBLE and Unwanted, like in Aussie. Anyway mate Colac has changed so much lately Full of Crackheads, Stay in the West, I think its better, cheers mate stay warm.
G'day Wally. I'm like you mate, I smile at just about everyone, mainly Thais because they smile at me mostly. When I'm in Thailand (6 or 7 trips now) I haven't experienced many farangs avoiding eye contact or saying hello back (except Russians of course 555) I've stuck to mainly tourist areas though, Phuket, Koh Samui and some others.
I watch a lot of expat vloggers and some miserable ones blame the Thai baht exchange to the Pound etc as why they move on to the Philippines or Cambodia or Laos.
I'm in Australia (Tassie) and soon to relocate to QLD and get a visa for my Thai fiance.
Anyway old mate, keep up the videos, don't stop smiling and saying G'day. :)
I've just subscribed and Liked.
Thanks so much, yea i cant understand it, But I will stay happy because life is so so good.. cheers and good luck ...Thanks for the sub and like
oh, and about exchange rates we have just had Thai breakfast .Im full for 50 to 60 Thai Baht.. = $2.50 to $4.00 and beet is 60 ish tB for a big leo, thats still good value , cheers
No. Your theory about control I don't buy. Many of the guys that I come across are single older men who pick up a shag anywhere without strings. I think they just live a self centred life so they feel hollow and have nothing to offer anyone else.
I have to agree Sam, To me, Having a shag , without any emotional connection and or friendship development or personal exploration and growth is extremely unfulfilling, But for so many men that's all they want, so l think you are onto something. There is so much more to life and it is all so wonderful, cheers, stay safe and happy.
Hey Wally! I think its because rural australia is a little odd, its really the only place where you say hello to strangers on the street, when I used to live in Melbourne you never looked at anyone or say hello it was just the way it was, bet most major towns around the world are like this :)
hi , yes it is that way In big Cities for sure, Fly to Aussie Tonight Very interesting Times,, cheers mate.
Old vlog I just found here but yes you are right, I’ve been in Thailand only 7 months, majority of westerners won’t make eye to give a hello or a nod contact in grocery stores , malls etc. But I’ve had a few hellos and good conversations. I guess some people are just bitter, angry and isolated. I need some interaction with westerners to keep my sanity.
Thanks Ken, Thailand is full of wonderful things and people, but some things can be a challenge, But i feel it is worth it, Where are you at Mate? Cheers
@@WallaceLivingFree I’m living in Chiang Mai city , about 15 minutes from the old city. I think living here is worth the obstacles if a person wants to grow and have new experiences . Great channel you have with many topics 👍
@@kbird529Adventures Thanks Ken, I love Chaing Mai and North Thailand, especially Udon Thani and Nong Khai, But I ended up with a lady from Central Thailand Chachoengsao Provence, so this is where I am and it is good. Cheers, and enjoy the good life.
@@WallaceLivingFree that’s how I found your channel, I’m chatting with a lady from the same area as where you are and wanted to do some research on the area.
@@kbird529 No worries mate, it is a good area, some reasons are, 1 hour to Bangkok and the airport, I hour to the beach at , Rayong, and 1 +1/2 hours to Pattaya for some relaxing and cold beers.
I don't buy the language theory either. They won't even smile.
Yep a smile in return for a smile is universal ,and there is no need for a common language,
I think it's because they have no purpose. As you said they have everything they need, they don't need to work for a living and aren't contributing to anything in society so they aren't feeding their soul.
yep if you haven't got a spiritual (Not religious, But could be) side to your life, and you are only feeding your monkey Brain desires, I feel contentment and fulfillment will elude you as you get older, Thanks for your insight, cheers
Glad it happens to you too. I thought they just hated Western chick's and that's why they never smile or acknowledge a greeting. 90% of guys I come across in my daily activities here are like that. It's pretty depressing.
Hi yes Sam it is depressing, But in the end it is their choice, but I dont Understand their attitude, I thought it might be because im an Aussie,.
I love your style and positive attitude . . Good on ya sport
Thanks so much, Im in Aussie ATM , Hope to be back in Thailand As soon as possible, Thanks for your comment , means so much to me , cheers
I think many had too much Monosodium Glutamate in Thailand. It causes excitotoxicity that kills brain cells, which is linked to depression and anxiety, among other illnesses. I am currently working to get it banned in Singapore.
That is not good, l am hopeing you are feeling better, moderation in all things, stay happy and healthy
@@WallaceLivingFreeI think thai cooks don't moderate as it is cheap.
hello Wally, where are u and what are u about, no vids in a while
Still stuck in Aussie mate, cheers
this is a good question. I suppose it is the desire for more but left with limitations and/or trust. But like anywhere, it is who you choose to befriend.
Its a truth, lf you trust no one, you will never get hurt,.
But l think a life without trust or even friends, especially friends who will support your back in extreme situations, would be an un for filled existence. Just my thoughts, cheers stay safe.
Love asian women...ive only been to Taiwan...lovely people...beautiful women...yummy food...hot though
I believe witbout a faith in Jesus life to many people is empty ...just saying😊👍
My belief on survival, Life is like a three legged stool,
1/ FOOD & SHELTER 2/ SOCIAL NETWORK 3/ SPIRITUALITY.........If one is missing you will eventually fall over, cheers and stay safe.
