Ryan is the guy to whom you go to talk when you think your life is a mess and he is always there to tell you “it’s ok”. His contents are a soapy massage for the soul. You will feel clean and refreshed. Another spectacular interview! 👍🏼
I am so amazed by this. I expected to just be entertained and feel triumphant about The Naked Guru’s story but I ended up having to pause several times to reflect on the things he said regarding the ego. This definitely hit the spot, personally. This is great Pete. Really really great. Thank you so much for this and to Mr Guru, thanks for baring your soul. 🙏
Hi, and, Thank you both. I am alcoholic. A lucky one to have my sobriety. Today was reminders to stay grateful and in the present. I have decided to retire in Thailand this year. I need to stay aware not to isolate myself. And to stay in prayer and gratitude. What a powerful video listening to two young men give great life advise from their experiences. Staying present ! Again, thank you both. Have a great day.
That was a brilliant chat. Definitely one of your best. It was good to hear a much more posItIve spIn on rural lIfe. And while on the wonderful Island of Koh Chang. 👍 😊
Such an open and honest interview Pete , Ryan is very candid and fair play to him in choosing a simple life to live. Addiction comes in all shapes really from drinking ,gambling to shopping ….knowing you have a problem is the 1st step in rehabilitation and he done so well in knowing he had an issue and taking the steps to help self . Ryan is spot on Pete in what he said about you. You allow the people you are interviewing to finish the question you asked and that’s what makes what you and Nune do so well 👏👏 I will check his channel out
Hi Pete what a incredible vlog i been on the same journey all my life i am 64 now as Ryan. I learnt more from him about myself in 30 minutes than I have in the last 40 years. Thank you
At 19:45, asking back the question to the questioner is a great technique to 1) try to understand the "question behind the question", 2) buy yourself additional time to formulate the answer and 3) also to make sure that your answer/reply is in sync with the questioner's expectation, IMHO. It's a great interviewing technique. 😃 Ryan is an interesting guy for sure ... not everyone (including myself currently) can live the way he does. Also, in Thailand, it would also require a strong, understanding and trustworthy local life partner.
Nice interview with Ryan the Naked Guru, he is a very smart well spoken guy. Love his Channel! Good to see you in the moment Pete and just going for it and asking if he would do an interview. Looking forward to more.
Great interview. Ryan is so right. Sometimes just answering someone with kindness. Knocks them right back. I love his channel. I am grateful for youtube and people's beautiful content. It takes me away from the cold and wet here in the UK. It takes some balls to put yourself out there for the world. I try and give a little. I do not have lots. But more than many people.
Well said Nicky, it takes bravery to put yourself out there but like everything else it gets easier with practice. It’s not for everybody though. You have to have thick skin
Pete, another bloody marvellous interview! Its great that you followed up your idea of crossing the road right away and introducing yourself to Ryan, and asking for the interview. We've all benefitted from this interesting discussion as a direct result. March on ahead and "continue to unfold", it's lovely to see your channel develop with outstanding interviews. Ryan sure has a wonderful ability to be succinct, yet in-depth with his answers. His mind has clarity, which I find a most attractive aspect of his personality.
ryan is a great inspiration to a lot of people, straight up no bullsh;'t, and very perseptive individual. great job on the interview you really got ryan to open up and the dialouge flowed very well
Pete that was really an impressive interview with Ryan. He spoke so fast that it was difficult for me to follow him. I had to stop and back up several times to understand his thinking. It was an incredibly profound conversation from which I benefited greatly. I really admire people like that because they live in the here and now and don't follow the mainstream. I also have great respect for him that he managed to find his way out of the alcohol spiral with his own will and to redefine his life. It doesn't seem important to him that he's great, it's important for him to be happy and content with whatever situation he's in. Some people in the world should learn a lesson from that. Thank you Pete for this video (--> 10K)! Greetings from Sattahip - Gerd 🌈🍀💖🌴🌈
Brilliant analysis Gerd, I have been fascinated about the here and now ever since I read the book The Power of Now. I heard Ryan talk about it before so I was keen to find out more about it and share it here
So true about negative events in life can be a “detour” towards a better future. -And we are all in a process of being a better human being. At age 70 years young, I definitely find myself more understanding and patient ( less judgemental) ) towards others than when I was in my 20’s & 30’s. And living in Thailand’s countryside has given me a chance to be closer to nature -slow down a bit and be away from the rat race of a big city or be so materialistic We humans definitely go through different stages in our lives so at my age, you can have empathy towards a teenager or young adult when they make a mistake in life. We all make mistakes but must learn from them 🙏 Good interview, Pete.
This is a fantastic comment. People seem to calm and be more open minded with age and wisdom. You sound like you’re living a good life and have a good mindset too
He comes across as a lovely honest fella, as he said drink and depression are invariably linked, some of his vlogs are great and different from the normal vloggers
A grand interview with Ryan. 👏👏👏to both of you. Ryan is humble, incredibly intelligent and a classic example of a fabulous role model. He has unique philosophies on living a decent authentic life with no regrets which I am gaining much strength from. And I know that thousands like me feel the same. Both of you present inspirational vlogs and I love your channels. May you continue to transcend all barriers in providing us with hope for the future. Cheers guys
I am getting a lot of value from this chat.. It really gives me perspective on the medium and my interaction with it. I've watched both these channels as I aspire to live outside the UK and Thailand is on the list of possible options because I enjoyed travelling there in the past. When I watch these videos it gives me a little taste of being there, reminds me of what the benefits are and builds my confidence to be bolder with my choices. Cheers guys.
I really like this guest's words, attitude, and practices regarding free speech or criticism. RUclips itself should really adopt the same policy. Personally, I would not delete (or 'ghost,' which is unethical and dishonest) unless it was vulgarity, communicating a threat (an actual crime), or an ad hominem personal libel of my son or wife. The rest is just 'water off a duck's back, pixels on a screen, that do not affect me or my life at all. They and their insignificance vanish with the same day's sunset. I really like this man's mature ego learning and wisdom. And honesty and transparency. He, like me, has concentrated on peace. We would be great friends if in the same neighborhood. Total respect. Best wishes.
I really like your interviews Pete and how you roll. I also like Ryan and his perspectives and how perfectly you two came together. Thanks for sharing - I am blessed even more for having listened to all of this. You two are excellent examples of living in the new ways. Thank you and keep on keeping on! ✌🏼 ☀️🌴 P.S. And do I EVER want to get back to beautiful Thailand beaches. 😍 Big time!! 😁😂
Thanks for your kind words Eileen. It was cool that I ran into Ryan and got to share his experiences on this channel. I’ve some cool interviews coming up too just need to edit them. Thailand’s beautiful beaches are still waiting for you !!
The story at 23.12 was great. A lot of ppl try to project their unhappiness on others because they mistakenly believe that they are invisible on the net. However, respect to this guy for owning up to and accepting he had issues. Having taken the step of taking responsibility for his own actions something few do these days he is now on his way to solving his issues.👍👍👍
Great to see you guys come together! Love both your contents. Agree with Ryan, discovering your addication or ego is the first step, and when you start to let go then everything will gradually fall into place, nicely 😀! Have gratitude for Mother universe and she will nourish you 🙏
Thanks Pete. I love Ryan's channel. A very interesting man. I could just sit there all day and say nothing and listen to what he has to say. I am sure you felt the same way and it certainly makes your role as the interviewer pretty simple.
Ryan is a wise man! Great interview as usual. Life is the Guru. That's the one I most like. And also great advice on the negative comments. How to deal with them. Cheers!
Hey Pete enjoyed that. Ryan is right you have a blessing to listen. It comes tru and helps the story just come out. Been watching Ryan well his laid back family with loads of talent is pretty cool. Take Care
Another great interview from Thairish Times. I have been following both your channel and The Naked Guru for a while now. I am living and working in Bangkok as a teacher. Ryan is the type of person I can sit down and listen to for hours. Thought provoking interview. Well done both. Love Koh Chang, visited it two years ago.
I'm really happy that I came across this video as I followed Ryan for a while and it opened my eyes to your channel as well. Interesting to hear you both talk. Thank You!
Hello Pete: Heading back to the States on 4 Feb .Thanks for all help and information. I’m going to try to return again in October. I’ll be following you in the meantime. I believe You Tube Channels such as yours are more informative than FaceBook Groups.
I’ve been watching you for awhile now because you’re always looking to create great content, just like this wonderful, thought provoking and even philosophical dialogue! Needless to say, I’m a fan :-) There are so many interesting stories out there if you look hard enough to find them. I watch and like Ryan’s channel about honest, self reflection he’s so good at. I can’t believe watching youtubers like you guys can make me see my own country with much more appreciation than I’ve ever had. What’s the best way to contact you? I’m finally making back to Thailand the middle of this month. Cheers!!
Hi mate, I’m sitting in my house, in caloundra Queensland Australia, and I’m so bloody happy I stumbled upon your channel. Brilliant interview, the two of you are incredible. I’m coming to Thailand on March 20 I would be blessed to catch up and shout a meal or a coffee!! Thanks!🙏🙏
Ryan Otis is such a profound individual…..gotta love his soul❤️ This interview gives us a better understanding of who he is and I totally enjoy watching his channel! Thanks for sharing this video Pete…..I cannot believe that you’ve posted this a couple of months ago!
What a delightful way to spend a half hour. I loved listening to you two wise gentlemen talking and sharing ideas. Actually one of the reasons I like Thailand so much is because it seems to attract so many interesting people. It was a wonderful interview Pete.
isn't that break in the flow of the interview in 18:15 such a perfect way to demonstrate that need to be in the now and not let ego govern your reactions. It's like the world wanted to demonstrate how far your circle of control extends and what you can best do with it. I feel a big buddhist philosophy vibe in your message today.
Again, every time I watch your youtube I think I should admit I always get something like a great and deep profound lesson from people whom you interviewed. Thank you very much for a great job you have been doing. Keep up doing a good job.
Great video Pete! Really fond of the direction your channel has gone. Sharing your own experiences and also giving Joe rogan style interviews with some of the best Thai youtubers. Take care mate!
How funny, I was thinking of asking if you knew Ryan and here you both are! Yes, I like him a lot. It's so refreshing to listen to someone who is so frank, but gentle at the same time. So nice you both met!
I thought the comment that you have the capacity to listen was spot on. That is why I follow you - esp re these interviews. I don’t find many YTube Thai bloggers doing this. I enjoy the superficial vlogs but honestly they are “me too s” - entertaining but forgettable. For someone considering to spend extended time in Thailand, your content is meaningful to me ! I have already learned which soi has a cheap 40 baht buffet !
You guys are spot on about organic channel growth. Keep putting out good interesting content and people will find it. Those are also the best kind of social media followers.
Was really interesting to hear his story and be so open and honest. Im sure there's many many people who can relate as well especially in thailand with all the temptations
Hi Pete great interview I've been following Ryan's channel for a while he's such a great genuine guy I could listen to him all day he just makes so much sense. I always feel better when I listen to him and I am so jealous of his lifestyle I'm retired now but I would've loved to have done what he did living of the land and the simple life with his amazing family. Not that I regret my life and family but would've loved to have lived there. Cheers Pete 👍
Wonderful job on your engaging interview! I have followed both of you guys for some time and you both are always working to make a more interesting video each time and it certainly shows! Thanks for an entertaining clip. Cheers!!!!
Wow! I had no idea I’ve been subscribed to Ryan ‘s channel for quite some time it’s came up on my list of videos quite a few times I saw a couple gardening videos had no idea. This guy was such a psychological guru. What a great guy I had no idea here he was sitting right in my lap, literally and I had no idea until I stumbled across this channel, I’m definitely a new subscriber. It just happened to pop up on my feed today I have probably 15 different channels from Thailand and probably 30 different channels from the Philippines. Trying to make up my mind where I want to go and I have never been to Southeast Asia. I have 474 days until I can apply for retirement. I pretty much made up my mind. I’m not going to pick one place I’m going to go slow travel to all of the places that I question and make up my mind after I come back for a retreat from traveling back to the United States in the Midwest, where I’m from, once I make up my mind, I’m pretty much going to sell everything and move somewhere else. Mexico and Portugal are definitely on my mind. Along with all of my dream spots in Southeast Asia in Micronesia I have to find what country and what place makes me feel the most comfortable. I’m looking forward to your channel and Ryan’s channel. Really enjoyed the interview. Thankful for the step that you took to go find Ryan and question him about possibly doing an interview and having it all materialize. it took a lot of balls to go search him out and make it happen. Congratulations.
Great interview Pete. Glad you both got to meet up. I have been watching lectures recently by Jordan Peterson, a Canadian Psychologist. Ryan is the embodiment of what Peterson teaches. Hope to meet up soon when you are back in Bangkok or back on Koh Chang. Might head there later in February.
Hey Dion I was just listening to Peterson on the Joe Rogan podcast this week. I noticed that too when Ryan mentioned “the hero’s journey”. Yeah let’s catch up. I’ll be back in BKK next week
That was one of your best interviews. The part about people leaving nasty messages touched a nerve. My GF is Western and she was the target of some very nasty comments when she was on Tinder here. Guys felt it necessary to be rude to her just because she's not Thai. Sorry to hear you guys have to deal with mean people.
WOW Pete! Two hits in a row! First Allan now this. Such a healing interview. Well maybe not literally healing but more of the positivity that we all need. When I get back this fall I would love to buy you a bowl of comfort soup and a beverage of your choice.
This is one of the best videos: Pete always does a great job .and the guru is a very interesting person .you will be friends for life .keep them vidoes coming m8 .
@@ThairishTimesI can’t believe it’s been a year ago since I first watched this video - This one helped spark the curiosity in me to plan a trip to Thailand. I love your sunglasses in the beginning :D
Wow!!! What a great interview 👏. From 2 of the Top Thai vloggers. So natural and honest. Nui and I are now on final count down for our move to Thailand 10 days and counting. I've realy got the urge to do RUclips and hopefully meet you both at some point. Great guys, great work 🙏🙏😎😎
Great interview Pete.. 2 of my favourite channels meet up , fair play.. pity I never got to hook up with u when I was in Bangkok in Dec/Jan . Maybe when I get back in late April 👍
Thank you Pete and Ryan absolutely fantastic vlog I follow both your channel’s and you both are amazing as are your wife’s Im so happy I found both your channels on utube thank you all so much
Yet another great interview Pete I don't think I can add any more to what I already see in the comments. What I personally try to get out of all the interviews is how the stories they tell adds value to my life and I learn things I would never have thought of.
Humble . thoughtful, courageous converstation , and a pleasure to enjoy the content and reflection that your channels provide ... its good and important work well done !
I really like this interview.. Interviewer who actually listen to the interviewee. Interviewee who articulates very well.. Good stuff Pete.. Just started watching ur interview clips. Not too condescending, not too patronising, respectful n honest in topics at hand. The guru.. Walk the talk kind of man... Not many around like that especially utubers.. Keep it up man... Cheers
Ryan's an interesting fella - I've been a subscriber to his channel for a couple of years. He's always seemed to me to be an irrepressible optimist, and I really didn't know anything about his struggle with alcoholism, although I did know he ran a few bars and is a saxophonist - guess I wasn't paying attention and didn't make the connection. Great interview - and lovely location for it!
@@ThairishTimes good old Gaybo..."one for everyone in the audience"....haha. Do you think you will manage to get an Edward Sweeney interview? I saw that he is on the Island as well.
Getting through the backlog because I missed a couple of your vids recently. Great to see you cracking out so many great interviews with people we are all familiar with in the local Thai RUclips scene! 14:00 - 16:00 is a really good little section on the merits and value of financial independence, for those who are following that pathway. Time and freedom is everything.
Was great meeting you and your lovely wife brother - I’m sure our paths will cross again 🙏😊
An absolute pleasure Ryan. Take it easy brother
Hey Ryan, been a subscriber to your channel for some time now. Really enjoyed the interview - some profound wisdom. You're a great orator!
What a thought-provoking guy and a great speaker. He seems like a real force of nature. Brilliant interview Pete.
Thanks mate, yes a fantastic speaker indeed
Ryan is the guy to whom you go to talk when you think your life is a mess and he is always there to tell you “it’s ok”. His contents are a soapy massage for the soul. You will feel clean and refreshed.

Cheers!!
Hey mate get me on thairishtimes@gmail.com
Hi mate, I’m sitting in my house, in caloundra Queensland Australia, and I’m so bloody happy I stumbled upon your channel. Brilliant interview, the two of you are incredible. I’m coming to Thailand on March 20
I would be blessed to catch up and shout a meal or a coffee!! Thanks!🙏🙏
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it. Sure, mate i’m up for that ☺️☺️☺️
Ryan Otis is such a profound individual…..gotta love his soul❤️ This interview gives us a better understanding of who he is and I totally enjoy watching his channel! Thanks for sharing this video Pete…..I cannot believe that you’ve posted this a couple of months ago!
Great conversation.
Thanks Pete, another very interesting interview
Glad you enjoyed it, love the name lol
What a delightful way to spend a half hour. I loved listening to you two wise gentlemen talking and sharing ideas. Actually one of the reasons I like Thailand so much is because it seems to attract so many interesting people. It was a wonderful interview Pete.
Thanks for watching Tom
Great videos! You guys are doing a wonderful job and give me so much positive energy 😊
isn't that break in the flow of the interview in 18:15 such a perfect way to demonstrate that need to be in the now and not let ego govern your reactions. It's like the world wanted to demonstrate how far your circle of control extends and what you can best do with it.
I feel a big buddhist philosophy vibe in your message today.
Batteries were about to die unfortunately and ai really wanted to bring Ryan’s story to you guys
Again, every time I watch your youtube I think I should admit I always get something like a great and deep profound lesson from people whom you interviewed. Thank you very much for a great job you have been doing. Keep up doing a good job.
Wow that is very cool
Great video Pete! Really fond of the direction your channel has gone. Sharing your own experiences and also giving Joe rogan style interviews with some of the best Thai youtubers. Take care mate!
Thanks mate, i’m glad you like this content. I enjoy making it and sharing it with you guys. More to come ☺️☺️
How funny, I was thinking of asking if you knew Ryan and here you both are! Yes, I like him a lot. It's so refreshing to listen to someone who is so frank, but gentle at the same time. So nice you both met!
That was a great day interviewing Ryan
Very interesting chat, really enjoyed it.
Thank you very much ☺️☺️
I thought the comment that you have the capacity to listen was spot on.
Thank you very much. I’m glad you enjoy the content. We like to show expat lifestyle, real people and real life☺️
Your best interview yet, thanks.
Thanks Dave ☺️☺️☺️
You guys are spot on about organic channel growth. Keep putting out good interesting content and people will find it. Those are also the best kind of social media followers.
Absolutely 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Was really interesting to hear his story and be so open and honest. Im sure there's many many people who can relate as well especially in thailand with all the temptations
Absolutely, alcoholism is rife in Thailand but isn’t spoken about too much
Hi Pete great interview I've been following Ryan's channel for a while he's such a great genuine guy I could listen to him all day he just makes so much sense. I always feel better when I listen to him and I am so jealous of his lifestyle I'm retired now but I would've loved to have done what he did living of the land and the simple life with his amazing family. Not that I regret my life and family but would've loved to have lived there. Cheers Pete 👍
I’d love to try it out for awhile Andy. It does look like a very peaceful life. Thanks for watching ☺️
Enjoyed that 2 cool guys, good interview Pete. Follow both your channels ....good stuff!
Thanks Joe ☺️☺️
Wonderful job on your engaging interview! I have followed both of you guys for some time and you both are always working to make a more interesting video each time and it certainly shows! Thanks for an entertaining clip. Cheers!!!!
Hey thanks mate ☺️☺️🙏👍🏼
Great interview Pete ...really admire the way in which he has built his life in Thailand in a rural setting ...my dream one day .
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it
Great interview Pete.
Wow!!! What a fabulous interview with Ryan. A lot of food for thought in this video and Ryan is right, you are a very good interviewer :)
Thanks Connie ☺️☺️☺️
Awesome! I needed to hear this today.
Glad it helped Adam. Take it easy
Respect. Great content Pete. One little saying I have of mine- 'Never judge a person as we never know what battles they are facing'
That’s a great saying Naz mate cheers 🙏
That was one of your best interviews.
The part about people leaving nasty messages touched a nerve. My GF is Western and she was the target of some very nasty comments when she was on Tinder here. Guys felt it necessary to be rude to her just because she's not Thai.
Sorry to hear you guys have to deal with mean people.
Jeez there are some very strange people out there. Thanks for watching🙏🙏
WOW Pete! Two hits in a row! First Allan now this. Such a healing interview. Well maybe not literally healing but more of the positivity that we all need. When I get back this fall I would love to buy you a bowl of comfort soup and a beverage of your choice.
Cheers Mike sounds good
This is one of the best videos: Pete always does a great job .and the guru is a very interesting person .you will be friends for life .keep them vidoes coming m8 .
Thanks Harry, glad you enjoyed it🙏🙏🙏
Spectacular interview! Thank you for making this video.
You’re very welcome mate
@@ThairishTimesI can’t believe it’s been a year ago since I first watched this video - This one helped spark the curiosity in me to plan a trip to Thailand. I love your sunglasses in the beginning :D
Wow!!! What a great interview 👏. From 2 of the Top Thai vloggers. So natural and honest. Nui and I are now on final count down for our move to Thailand 10 days and counting. I've realy got the urge to do RUclips and hopefully meet you both at some point. Great guys, great work 🙏🙏😎😎
Hey thanks Rich, glad you like it. Start your channel mate it will change your life ☺️
Great interview Pete.. 2 of my favourite channels meet up , fair play.. pity I never got to hook up with u when I was in Bangkok in Dec/Jan .

Thanks very much Stephen
Thank you Pete and Ryan absolutely fantastic vlog I follow both your channel’s and you both are amazing as are your wife’s Im so happy I found both your channels on utube thank you all so much
Thank you for the support and kind words Margaret 🙏🙏🙏
Yet another great interview Pete I don't think I can add any more to what I already see in the comments.
What I personally try to get out of all the interviews is how the stories they tell adds value to my life and I learn things I would never have thought of.
Fantastic, this is exactly how I think. I’m a big believer in something can be learned from everyone
Humble . thoughtful, courageous converstation , and a pleasure to enjoy the content and reflection that your channels provide ... its good and important work well done !
Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed it
I really like this interview..
Cheers
Glad you like it mate, more to come for sure. Ryan is a really interesting person
Cheers Philip, glad you liked the interview. More to come on this channel
Great video Pete! He’s spot on, you do have a great interview style and you let the person speak and you listen! RTE beckons! 👍
Haha Sean, I could be on Prime Time next lol
Best interviewer in Thailand meets my fave vlogger in Thailand…..
Thanks Kelvin!!
Good Interview Pete ,Im watching thru Them ,I like Ryan and his Family /Vloggs
Cheers Bob, Ryan’s a gentleman
Well done Pete, could be the best interview yet...the Thailand version of Terry Wogan ;) Great work mate
Cheers JP I like Gay Byrnes style too haha
@@ThairishTimes good old Gaybo..."one for everyone in the audience"....haha. Do you think you will manage to get an Edward Sweeney interview? I saw that he is on the Island as well.
Pete ,, I was in Koh Chang at the weekend , and thought I saw you from across the street. What a coincidence .
It must have been me David. I’ll see ya around next time 😂
Getting through the backlog because I missed a couple of your vids recently. Great to see you cracking out so many great interviews with people we are all familiar with in the local Thai RUclips scene! 14:00 - 16:00 is a really good little section on the merits and value of financial independence, for those who are following that pathway. Time and freedom is everything.
Thanks Kris, Ryan is a super interesting person
Great interview Pete. Extremely interesting chap. He wasn't happy and he had the courage to completely change his direction. Inspirational.
Thanks Rob, glad you liked it🙏
