Foreigner Goes Crazy... But Speaks Great Thai

- This foreigner sparked concern when he was behaving erratically in front of cars in Bangkok. Cops arrived and after a few words, they let him go.
Clearly he was worse for wear, but in his defence, he spoke great Thai and even knew how to wear one of their loin cloths properly.

What an incredibly kind and understanding police force! They recognized his distressing state of mind and handled the situation with sensitivity, refraining from adding pressure or causing problems. Much respect for the Thai Police.
deport him back to where he belongs. Why police don't check his passport? His feet has an infection.. I think he came to Thailand to find a Thai girlfriend (like most single white men in Thailand) and the girlfriend took all his money and he got crazy and homeless.
police did ok at first. they calmly took him away from traffic, tried to figure out the situation. they didn't take the crazy guy to jail and didn't deport him. overall a fail.

Crazy enough to do drugs and lose his mind, but disciplined and intelligent enough to study and learn Thai. I hate mind boggling paradoxes like this.
disciplined enough to moderate his use of drugs, disciplined to quietly go about his business without causing trouble to others. In short he learnt a foreign language.
Probably, he learned Thai long before his drug problems began. Many current drug abusers had a decent life before drugs took them down.

Thai culture looks so civilized. People protected the man from traffic. Then the police came and got him to safety and engaged with him in a civil manner. In my country, the USA I imagine people just filming and pointing followed by the police using aggressive behaviour tasers and arrest. Kudos to Thailand and it's people.

I know this guy. He used to be a Bikram yoga teacher in Bangkok and I knew him through that world. Even had him over to my house a few times. He was clever but a bit nutty and had an amazing yoga practice. He also developed absurdly good Thai and was more of a royalist than the most patriotic Thai you could find. Wish him luck, I am surprised to see him show up in this context.

After seeing various police interactions in a number of Asian countries, it really highlights the problem we have with police culture in America. As illustrated here in Thailand, as in Japan, and even China, it’s evident the primary objective of patrol officers is to maintain public peace and safety, and societal harmony. Violence and arrest is an absolute last resort that’s avoided at all costs. Whereas in America, the police forces in all our major cities use every encounter they have with the public as an excuse to find any reason to arrest the subject. It’s quite ironic we go around criticizing other countries for their alleged abuse of human rights, while we have more citizens incarcerated than any other country in the world, by any measure…. population, percentage, felonies, misdemeanours, youth, adults, violent crimes, financial crimes, victimless crimes, you name it and we’re on top. Something is wrong in the land of the free.

Not everyone is enamoured when foreigners try to emulate so blatantly their culture. I've been living in SE Asia for 20 years and have seen, on numerous occasions, foreigners, trying to curry favor by appropriating local culture in an exaggerated way then being mocked by locals after the foreigner leaves. It's not unlike the trashing Trudeau got after wearing local Indian clothing when he visited India. There's a fine line between assimilation and overt appropriation of local culture by a foreigner. In the case of this video, I have zero doubt that the locals will be getting a laugh out of this farang's undignified behavior.

I’ve seen all of these versions of farang before but rarely all in one person at the same time. His Thai is quite good at times but a bit odd and off in others. He’s having a scary psychosis induced by extensive use of dirty local meth amphetamines and extreme lack of sleep. The tics are also a result of this. Seen a few farangs go this way but not all pull out of the nosedive in time. He got lucky this time but these episodes and behaviour usually lead to a social situation which gets ugly and earns a short stint in Thai prison followed by somebody back in the west desperate enough to come and get him on a plane home. Embassies are not always bothered to help. Saw this same story play out all the way to that sad and extreme end twice before.

lo dejan irse drogado y manejando una moto...y en los comentarios dicen "que buenos policias" 🤣🤣🤣😂
He seems like a very respectful person. He's just going through something and needs some help or someone to talk to, He seemed to calm down just talking to the police about his problems.
I’ve been this guy in America, I was manic, threatened the cops with rocks . They were kind and treated me with respect. I was never tased , don’t let the news distort your reality.
Wow. You can do wtf you like in Thailand if youve mastered the language conversationally. They loved him even though he was yabad up they let him go.... Crazy
Can't believe they let him ride off on that bike, he nearly lost it before he had even left the carpark.
yeah but u saw those two cops followed on their motorcycle.....so..
@@unclecraigbaannawk Did they stop him?
@@PUBLICSECTORJOBSWORTHS don’t know but knowing Thai police I imagine further interaction resulted in getting him to a safe place if he acted out again…
@@unclecraigbaannawk He needed a safe place, I hope he has got his head together, does anyone out there know if he has?
@@PUBLICSECTORJOBSWORTHS haven't found any but knowing the Thai news I'm sure the Nation online of Bangkok Post might have a related article in the archives...just got to spend a few hours likely to drill down and find something...
That's crazy man, I hope this guy is ok.
He's drug fucked
I am Thai and I can assure you that no one can hurt him. If he doesn't touch other people's bottoms, Thai people are kind, like to help. I'm Thai. I don't like violence
@@AKTELFwhat was he saying to the police?
that dude definitely needs medical attention. his left leg has quite a bit of fluid, and his face has some dry blood on him as well. He may have gone through some violence, abuse or OD # Thailand drug accessibility is very easy to get to. Poor guy..My respect for Thai people who have very kind loving hearts. I miss Thailand. Hopefully, I could be there again someday.
ยินดีต้อนรับ
Never a dull moment in Bangkok
Me after a week in Bangkok
LMAO This guy is a royalist. This reminds me of an ethnic Indian guy who is also a royalist and often goes crazy on the road.
Everyone is just one "ya baa" pill away from this. This guy will have a great chapter for when he writes his book!😎
Like billy more story haha
What great story, took drugs messed me up got help and I’m ok now,the end.
Yeahhh ya bahh Devils pills.......
How the hell did the police let him drive off on his motorcycle when he was clearly off his head on drugs?
He went crazy from learning Thai!
He went crazy because his Thai girlfriend took all his money.
he unlocked some secret thai martial arts technique and his mind was crushed
55555😂
He keeps reciting the official name for 'Bangkok' Krung Thep Mahanakorn and so on! I think he has been in a temple for some time? Strange!
One too many full moon parties. But honestly, too often it only takes one.
If this happened with uk police he would have been taken in for mental health reasons.
Yeah, good! He clearly can't take of himself and is a danger to himself and others.
Did the police just let a drugged or mentally impaired guy ride a motorized vehicle ( moped)?😮 I don’t understand.
He became quiet and respectful all the sudden the police showed up, thai jail is not for foreigners they will not survive here.
ดูๆแล้วเค้าน่าสงสารอยู่นะ ขาบวมด้วย
Yaba is a wonderful drug plus helps you speak Thai.
He could be schizophrenic or have another type of mental issue. He doesn't necessarily have to be off his head on drugs however its possibe.
appears to be on the autism spectrum...
Probably a combination of mental or emotional problems combined with drugs..
That moment when your in Thailand as a foreigner watching this video 😂😂 LOL !! 💀
I can’t believe the cops allowed him to drive off on his motorbike (without a helmet) when he’s clearly intoxicated or suffering some kind of psychotic episode.
PLOT TWIST: That's not his bike.
