    There are always various aspects to it. I know so many people that found Christ in and through the LDS church, and I think just as Peter was thaught a lesson on what the Lord can do outside what we hold possible, so we also always have to be open.
    I think the premise is that we ought to be honest about things, whether it comes to church history, changes and what not. But the same applies to the Bible. Too many people like to entertain a double standart, where they are more criticle of the other, then of its own history.
    In the Bible, for example, do we also find many changes and unfulfiled prophecies.. Matthew, for example, crafted his writings so that they would fulfill prophecy about Jesus. But he got some things wrong on how he interpreted the Old Testament writing, and therefore we know today we tried to make his writings fit the Old Testament prophecy.
    And there is much more to discover, like there never having been invations like described in the BIble in regards to canaanites. Or that salvery was condoned and even described by God himself in Leviticus.
    Point is, you will always have changes and imperfection as soon as humans are involved, and the question is whether be believe God can still work through these imperfect things, and my believe is most certaonly yes.
    Now, I also think we need to apply the same kind of criticle thinking to things like the CES letter. Most of that letter, actually, have long since been debunked. But no, the LDS church is not perfect, nor will we ever meet anything or anyone who is perfect except Christ. And I think the sooner we realize that, the more we open up that Christ can and does work even through the LDS church.
    Its not the path everyone will take, but its a path that still can bring forth the good fruit, and Jesus was clear, once we taste of that fruit, we can KNOW it is of God.
    Point is, an honest apporach of the Bible will also show changing and unfulfilled revelations and prohecies.. So, will that mean either people dont want to acknowledge that, leave their faith, or see God still in and through it all?

    ‘Jesus is a tool’ that gives credibility to the movement. Yes- that’s exactly the problem with it! Mormons believe they have Jesus so they stop seeking Him- I keep wondering why as a Mormon I just read Mormon scriptures every day and trusted Mormon sources only.

      Can I ask: what is your testimony like? What were a few things that led you to follow Christ out of the LDS Church?

    • @michaelnicholas5587

      When you have found a mentor, do you have to continue to seek him? Don't you stop seeking and try to emulate your mentor? Having come from mainstream Christianity, I know many other sources that are not LDS, and they make very little sense as to what God wants and expects for and from us.

    What ideas does the LDS Church have that they cannot back up?

    • @JLLDS
      @JLLDS  28 дней назад

      Here are a few off the top of my head:
      1 - That it's okay or necessary for Smith to practice polyandry (married over 10 women who already had a living husband)
      2 - That it's ok to trust that Joseph Fielding Smith is a prophet of God when he intentionally lied about Smith (first prophet) used a seer stone to translate the Book of Mormon. He also tore the 1832 account of the 1st vision out of Joseph Smith's diary to hide it due to how problematic and conflictive it was. He taped that page back in after the Tanners went public with this information. Should we really trust a man who we know intentionally lied and attempted to hide things from the members of his own church?
      3 - That it's okay for the current church leaders to illegally file financial documents and create illegal "shell" companies to investing their tithing money into.
      4 - That it's okay for prophets and apostles to teach false things about God and salvation.

      @@JLLDS 1. The basis for polygamy is rooted in the Old Testament where Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob were a few polygamists of the time. Polygamy in and of itself is not against God's way as the aforementioned men were all considered righteous before God. The problem is when the natural man would use it for his own pleasure and lust fulfillment. However, the early Latter-Day Saints used it as a means to build righteous families that would be able to withstand the persecution that would come their way.
      2. There is nothing problematic about the first vision of Joseph Smith. Just as Stephen in the book of Acts 7:55-56 looked to the heavens and saw Jesus Christ standing on the right hand of His Father, Joseph also had the same experience. I find it interesting to note that the people of today have virtually the same reaction to Joseph Smith's vision as the New Testament people had to Stephen's vision.
      3. No church leader has been convicted of any financially illegal misdeeds. It is within the churches right to use tithing to do whatever is deemed necessary to build the Kingdom of God on the Earth. Among the things tithing is used for is to build church buildings, temples, provide for the church welfare system, and aid for those who have been affected by natural disasters and other types of calamities.
      4. What false doctrine is taught by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints?

  • @michaelnicholas5587
    @michaelnicholas5587 29 дней назад

    Ah yes, the CES Letter, the one written by people who have an axe to grind against the Church, desecrating people they have never met and are not here to defend themselves. What about the actual doctrine does this guy disagree with? God has a purpose for us, and it is not sing worship songs and play harps for eternity.
