    I live next to some LDS. The Lord gave me a chance to speak Biblical Truth to them about 15 years ago. I asked Jesus to give the wife understanding. He did. I'll never forget the way she said, "Oh!" After I read Isaiah 43:10; 44:6-8. And after that the entire family started shunning me. They built a 25ft chicken cage and got a rooster. They placed that thing under our bedroom window in a fairly new residential neighborhood. I didn't sleep for 9 days. I prayed for the farm animals to go away. God used the city codes and the HOA to get the animals away. I have been told that I was a subject in that household for a while. I have been threatened with litigation to stop going door-to-door by them. Since I live in America, that came to nothing. I still pray for this family to repent and turn to Christ.

    28:25 Travis: “You’re talking to kids who don’t understand what you’re talking about.” Does Travis (or one his minions) intend to intervene in every difficult challenge that these trained (yes, they go through training) missionaries encounter? My gosh, let them do their job. The organization got to the size it is today with the work of missionaries just like these kids without any help from people like Travis. Obviously, the LDS leaders regarded these missionaries as sufficiently prepared and felt confident in sending them out to the mission field. How many LDS missionaries are out there at any given moment - 50,000? 60,000? Does Travis seriously think he can micromanage this extensive project? He’s treating these poor kids like ignorant infants, and his hubris is off the charts. The LDS corporation needs to reign this guy in - he’s damaging the organization’s reputation more than he is helping.

    33:16 It would be more accurate to say that Christianity itself was in a state of apostasy because they had rejected, at least for the most part, the apostolic authority to receive, interpret, and canonize new scripture on behalf of the entire church and rather than wait for new apostles to seek the Lord's will on what to include, and how to interpret it they decided for themselves what texts were inspired, and therefore scripture, and which ones weren't.

      The qualifications for an apostle seem to be to a witness of the resurrection of Christ per Acts 1:21-26 and 1 Corinthians 15:7-9. So, it would seem that the office of an apostle could only be a 1st-century thing and not an office that would carry on.

    • @jessekoeven3757
      @jessekoeven3757 8 дней назад

      @whychristianity7526 a witness of the reality of the resurrection of Christ, no one witnessed the resurrection itself(Acts 4:33). Ephesians 4:7-13 speaks of the role and their gifts continuing until the 2nd Coming of Christ and the end of time as we know it.

    • @whychristianity7526
      @whychristianity7526 8 дней назад

      @@jessekoeven3757True, the Apostles didn't witness the actual moment Jesus rose from the dead, but they clearly had interactions with the physically resurrected Christ. I think we need to take in all the biblical data about the office of Apostle. Ephesians 4 does list Apostle as one of the offices God has given the church. However, in Ephesians 2:19-22 Paul likens the church to a temple that is being built, with the foundation of the building being the Apostles with Christ being the cornerstone. Given that the Apostles are the foundation of the church, one would expect that there would come a point where the apostolic foundation is finished and the building is built on that foundation. The biblical data concerning the requirements of being an apostle does seem to restrict the office to the first century church, since one requirement was to be among the witnesses to Christ's resurrection by experiencing a physical appearance of Christ. President Nelson has never claimed (as far as I can tell) to have had Christ physically appear before him and so he doesn't meet the qualifications for an Apostle.

    • @jessekoeven3757
      @jessekoeven3757 8 дней назад

      @whychristianity7526 The analogy Paul used is an accurate one. Your use of it is flawed as a building without foundations will inevitably crumble to dust. Any additions set on the original structure require sure foundations as well, usually the same kind of foundations as the original. No, but Joseph Smith did on multiple occasions, and, as an apostle, he could ordain other apostles.

    • @whychristianity7526
      @whychristianity7526 7 дней назад

      @@jessekoeven3757 It would seem that according to Jude 1:3 we are to contended earnestly for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints, which would imply that the saints in the first century had the fullness of the Gospel and that their would be no additions to the faith. Let us just assume Joseph Smith had apostolic authority, he still couldn't willy nilly appoint other apostles. He could only appoint those who could give witness to Christ's resurrection through having interactions with Christ himself. Peter made this clear in Acts 1. Also interesting to note that Paul in 1 Corinthians 15 said that he was the last witness of the resurrection to have a experience with the risen Christ. He refers to himself as "one untimely born" to denote the unusual circumstance by which he experienced Christ in his resurrected state. So I would argue that Christ appearing to people physically is not something we should expect and thus we shouldn't expect apostles today, since seeing the risen Christ is a qualification of being an apostle.

    Going in with intent to oppose shows you werent willing to ask God and prayer. It doesn't matter who believes what, the only way to receive truth is by asking god directly. Everything (including scriptures) can be corrupted by moth and man. Some other things to be aware of, The native Americans themselves are releasing their records now (because no one is listening, not even the lds church at the moment) . Thier records come in support of the book of Mormon (1) the nemenhah records (book, second complete edition) (2) the birch bark scrolls (under translation now). See chief Midegah of the ojibwe nation. Seek God, not contention. Remember also luke 9:49-50 "those who aren't against me are for me " jesus tells off his apostles for not being tolerant of other people who were doing similar things.

  • @andrewreed4216
    @andrewreed4216 8 дней назад

    Sorry to hear about your bad experience. There's always one in every bunch. Many things have happened in history that aren't recorded, sadly. The only way we can ever know something is to pray and ask for ourselves. That's the only way I could move forward. I do know the Book of Mormon is true through the Holy Ghost, but I also believe the lds church is a separate issue. Again, the only way past any differences in understanding is through direct personal revelation from God. Some other good books to check. (1) the nemenhah records (book, second complete edition) released by the native Americans themselves in support of the church (but not accepted by the church). It also supports the book of Mormon (2) the gospel of kailedy (from Britain, Glastonbury Abbott) (3) the silk road gospel (from china) (4) acts 29. (5) the birch bark scrolls (see chief midegah) it also supports the book of Mormon. (Also, the missionaries should have had a chance to speak) But again, any verse can be interpreted any way. Although I like the bible, if you have studied it, you'll know how it's also an abridgement and has had alterrations. Again, ask a specific question of God. Regardless of apostacies, one should go to God. God confirmed the NEMENHAH RECORDS to me via a vision before, during, and after reading it. I'm not native American, but christ himself told me, "Don't persecute my people, the nemenhah." But also, it sounds like you came with the intent to oppose instead of pray. This video doesn't even show you having good intentions from the beginning. This is why contention happened.

    31:17 in the context of apologetic argument. Missionaries are basically doctrinal tourguides. They know enough to guide interested people on a journey of discovery pertaining to the teachings, doctrines, and principles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, with the goal being conversion to the faith. They are not equipped to handle doctrinally intense conversations with a person who is not interested in joining the church.

    • @whychristianity7526
      @whychristianity7526 8 дней назад

      If the goal is conversion, then they should be well-equipped to handle doctrinally intense conversations. Just because someone has tough questions doesn't mean they are not open to joining the church. One can have legitimate tough questions and be willing to join the church when those questions are answered. I think sending out young people who are pretty much novices when it comes to matters of theology is a terrible strategy for winning converts, especially in today's culture where secularism and skepticism are on the rise. People are going to have tough questions and those questions need to be answered. An even worse strategy is pairing those young people with an apologist who holds views that contradict the doctrine on the church's official website while lecturing people about how his church is the only proper source of interpretation. Not to mention the often sneaky and underhanded way said apologists conduct themselves and the often abrasive and atheistic style of argumentation that is often employed by these individuals

    • @jessekoeven3757
      @jessekoeven3757 8 дней назад

      @whychristianity7526 I will not and can not condone these missionaries' behavior. It was dishonest. That being said, and to your point about "hard" or even "difficult questions," those kinds of questions are posed all of the time, but they are not actively combated against. Missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are volunteers, not professionally trained or schooled theologians who argue this stuff for fun. I will rephrase what they ARE trained to do, and that is to facilitate spiritual experiences for interested persons. Since the vast majority of theological argument discounts the spiritual, they are already out of their wheelhouse at the onset of the conversation. Travis does argue for fun, and he knows a lot. Thus, he is better equipped to argue on a theological level.

    • @whychristianity7526
      @whychristianity7526 8 дней назад

      @@jessekoeven3757 I think it would be very beneficial for the church to train the missionaries in theology and apologetics. I will say, most Latter Day Saints I have met are very kind and respectful people. I think that is to the church's credit. I think training young people to engage criticism in a thoughtful, informative way would be a great benefit to the church, rather than have missionaries rely on people who may not be the most respectful about things. Travis is smart and good at debate, but he definitely lacks in the respect department.

    12:23 agreed Amos isn't referring to the apostasy after the apostles future death's. What this actually serves as is evidence God can take away his word. He said "I will send a famine in the land... Of hearing the word of the Lord." Let's see what 2 Thessalonians says "the day of Christ is at hand. 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition." Idk how you miss this part that Christ's second coming won't happen without a falling away first. Paul did just say that. And the Protestant movement is evidence there was an apostasy and the apostolic priesthood was lost and needed to be restored. Protestants have no priesthood. We can see apostasy was happening. Even Paul told Timothy "For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia. 11 Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry. Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works: Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our wordsAt my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me." Are you actually going to suggest the church didn't reject the apostles? Clearly it was happening before Paul's execution as we see here.

      For your 2 Thessalonians passage, you gotta keep reading brother...it says that before Christ comes, there will be a falling away and the son of perdition/man of lawlessness is revealed. This is talking about the anti-Christ and is a package deal. Because it is the anti-Christ who will be leading the falling away/great rebellion. The anti-Christ has not yet been revealed, therefore, this future event has not yet taken place. Therefore, it cannot be talking about the LDS great apostasy.

    18:50 There are no such things as “Bible-based” Christians, you only have your interpretation of what the Bible means to you. For example, I, a LDS believe I am a Bible-based Christian. But that’s no more true of me than you. We all renegotiate with scripture, this is what the NT writers and church fathers did. Of course Latter-day Saints are going to give you a LDS interpretation of scripture. We all “negotiate” with scripture differently. There are different paradigm. A Jewish person reads the scriptures different than a Christian, a Unitarian different than a Trinitarian etc. You see this in the New Testament when NT writers rip verses out of context and apply them to the Messiah, when originally they were sang or read to a Davidic king. The Church cites scriptures to give examples of the principle of apostasy. But remember, the Bible doesn’t have to say anything. Just because the Bible doesn’t say X does not necessarily make it untrue.

    • @spen7899
      @spen7899 9 дней назад

      If we accept your logic. Then we should all be Jews because they have the most sound interpretation of OT scripture and give ode to the proper context in which it was written. The NT writers then took these verses and applied to NT teachings, beyond the scope of their original context.

      @spen7899 that's why prophets/apostles are so important. They have the authority to not only reveal new scripture, but interpret old scripture with new meanings applicable to the context of said time. That's the point of the New Testament, they give new scripture and reinterprete old scripture.

      @@spen7899 hey friend, I disagree with your thinking. There’s a different between exegesis of the text and isogesis of the text: LDS love to isogete and superimpose their beliefs onto the text rather than taking the text at face value for what it says. And generally when they come across something that doesnt align with their theology they say, well it was tampered with and isn’t translated correctly. And all the LDS people I know stack their other scriptures against the Bible, so in the end if the Bible contradicts their beliefs, well it doesn’t matter because you have other books you trust more anyways. So in my book it’s impossible to say you’re a Bible based Christian when that’s how you handle scripture. Your burden of proof actually lies not on the what the text says but on whether it was really corrupted/changed. ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3‬:‭14‬-‭17‬ “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

    This discussion is very good; however I always have a problem with the basics, such as who God is, where He came from, Jesus and Satan are brothers, the trinity is three separate beings, eternal marriage-none of this is in the Bible, just in LDS books. From what I understand LDS only believe the Bible is accurate as far as it has been translated correctly.

    • @JLLDS
      @JLLDS 13 дней назад

      Great points! Yes, you are correct. Their 8th article of faith states that the Bible is the Word of God as far as it is translated the correctly. Also the Book of Mormon is the Word of God. Different LDS interpret this in different ways. In the past, I remember showing missionaries Isaiah 44:6-8 where it clearly states that there is only one creator God. Their response was to tell me that this part of the Bible must not have been translated correctly. Thank you for your time and your thoughts! God bless!
