Tasha, kudos for an excellent post. My Dad was a child of the depression, with an injured father with limited means of supporting a wife and 12 children. They were the family whose kids wore the hand-me-downs from the families who wore hand-me-downs. After being drafted in the military, he returned home, eventually taking a job as a teller in a small rural bank with 7 chain offices. In time he became Sr Vice-presidents of a company and profession he was proud of. Their primary corporate mindset was to serve the community while making an honest profit. My father's love for his profession died when the bank was bought out by a major corporate holding company. Dad was in charge of every branch office from Syracuse, NY to Buffalo, NY - south to the NY/PA state line. He hated it and came to despise the corporate greed. I remember him saying that "if a large corporation could make $100 on your life, you can kiss your butt good-bye!" Everything you just said lines up perfectly with what my father told us. Thank you for being a woman of such integrity!

Have been in the corporate world for decades & a lot of that time in management---can confirm 100% of everything you say. They'll try to act like you're one big happy family & the loyalty goes both ways, but they'll drop you like a hot potato as soon as they start needing to cut costs. Because the C-suite folks definitely aren't giving up their ridiculously high salaries/bonuses when times get tight. Even if you think you're irreplaceable--I promise you're not. Everyone is replaceable. It is best to do your job exactly as required for the time required & no more. You will not benefit from giving up your personal time to work for a corporation for free. And fraternizing with coworkers is a recipe for workplace drama & awkwardness (and don't think your 'outside work' behavior/conversations won't be held against you at work). Just be pleasant & just do whatever it is they're paying you to do.

I agree with you 100%. When I was 54 my company eliminated my job - you could retire at 55 there. Luckily I had friends in other departments and got another job which I really enjoyed and got high performance ratings but they were always nipping at my heels. I loved my job but could no longer stomach the corporate BS so I told my boss I'm gone in one year and he said "well, if you're retiring next year I'm going too". 17 years later I look back and am so happy I was able to tell them "take this job and shove it!" Like in EE Cummings poem Olaf said "there is some sh*t I will not eat".

So sorry that happened to you. In 2019, from April to October, my corporation laid off VPs, Directors, senior Managers on a massive scale. I was a director with 26 years in the company. Me and 23 other directors and VPs were told your jobs don’t exist anymore. Poof!! They did this so callously. It was an awful way to treat people. Smh

Sorry this happened. Everyone is a number today, sad but true. It's good you have a good successful RUclips channel and it's monetized. All the best!

Once, during an annual review, my manager actually told me that if I wanted to advance within the company that I would need to fraternize with the higher ups; go to dinners, golfing etc. I told him that if I couldn't advance based solely upon my merits, that this company was not for me.

That's exactly how my job is right now and the bosses are only nine to you when they want something but after that they are always talking about me behind my back and I catch them saying stuff about me but I don't say anything about it that's why I do whatever I want at work

A business is a business! It’s run by flawed people and worked by flawed people. It’s not slavery when you can quit whenever you want. If you want to be a in charge then start your own business! I watched a lot of your reaction videos with you and your husband and by yourself but I got to admit I am disappointed with your take on this subject. Are some companies run by bad people? Yes! Are some employees also bad? Yes! Welcome to life!
