I like the Sorento's rugged look and the 3-row with captain's chairs options, but I love the Santa Fe's sleek interior much better.
Makes it a tough choice.
@@stephenpowstinger733 That comment totally wasn’t intentional
I agree😁 I also prefer the exterior look Sorento but the interior luxury of the Santa fe, the interior of the Sorento is old school, with the gear shift and other low end details, but I do prefer the Sorento's placement of the dispay over Hyundai's it is a much sleeker look😘 and I prefer the bench seating, so it would be Awesome if you could obviously get both options in both vehicles 😁
A bunch of these new Hyundai and Kias have the new 2.5 engines (with and without turbos) with Port Injection added on. This gets rid of the carbon built up and oil burning issues of the older engines. Thank you for finally fixing this issue!
Thanks for the info, that's good to know. I'll most likely be trading in my 2019 Santa Fe with the 2.0T engine for the new 2022 with the 2.5T engine. That should hopefully give consumers a little piece of mind and hopefully people will not worry about the previous problems Hyundai had with some earlier engine designs.
Awesome and good to know. Had a RR sports which consistently had this issue. Loving my 2021 Sorrento
I love both of them! I would pick the Hyundai Santa Fe
I would definitely choose the Santa Fe. Its more luxurious. Great job Hyundai!
Again, I prefer the exterior of Kia & interior of Hyundai. I'd take the Hyundai because I prefer sitting inside the car & feel the luxury inside the cabin rater than Just parking & looking at it.
We just bought the 2021 Kia Sorento after my husband drove my K5. Love Kia
Outstanding comparison video👍🏻👍🏻
Keep bringing this type of video
Thank you Sir!
Glad you enjoyed!
Sorento is better looking in my mind and also has a 3rd row which is nicer & had more space 👍
See that is what makes me like the sorento a bit more third row seating.
Yeah, but I wish you had the option for 3rd row with bench or captains chairs at the top trim. I know captains look way nicer, but you lose a passenger.
I meant 2nd row with bench
If u need third row sorento the way to go but inside the santa fe look way more better and why sorento don't have the memory seat anymore!! i have it on my 2016.
Also santa fe has 3rd row
Great review w/ that split split-screen comparing the differences. Brilliant, and very helpful.
My mom got the all new Santa Fe, she loves it!
That’s a nice ride
Same here
For me, I like the Santa Fe. The interior styling and layout is more for me. I like the infotainment screen sitting out on it's own and not as part of the dash. The center console controls are up higher and I prefer the push button shifter. The Sorrento would absolutely be my next choice though. That 5yr 60k mile factory warranty both have is stellar! Great job to both Hyundai and Kia.
Your split screen is amazing the other big boy channels should take notice ..... thanks
i couldnt agree more
Agreed
I really enjoy the side by side comparison view. Thanks!
The best car review video ever! Love that you started with the price of top level trim. We carry dogs in the back, not people, so I want a bench seat that folds completely flat. Will look forward to a review of the 2022 Tucson from you. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Sharon! Glad you enjoyed and we look forward to reviewing the all-new Tucson in the future!
A much appreciated comparative review. Too often reviews of either KIAs or Hyundais the closely related cousin is never even mentioned. Almost as if each manufacturer requests that reviewers avoid mentioning what is obviously a cross shopped vehicle. In the case of the Santa Fe and Sorento the two vehicles have shared numerous components and features for several years. For 2021 they're arguably even more closely related with virtually identical engine and drivetrain lineups . The two are almost identical in size (The Sorento now has 2" longer wheelbase than the Santa Fe and is about half an inch greater in overall length) Identical AWD and infotainment systems (with slightly different screens), and almost identical interior space.(The KIA has about 75.5 cubic ft of total cargo space compared to the Santa Fe's 72.1 cf. Cargo space behind the second row is 36.4 cf in the Santa Fe vs 38.4 cf in the Sorento.)
The biggest difference, of course, is the Sorento standard 3 rows of seats compared to the Santa Fe's two rows (in North America). It's a difference that began in the 2018 model year when KIA dropped its two row option and Hyundai dropped its optional 3rd row. That difference has another impact. Captain chairs are standard on upper level trims in the Sorento with a second row bench seat available only in lower trims . In the Santa Fe, on the other hand, the absence of a third row means all trims by necessity have a 2nd row bench seat. So for those who complain they cannot get a bench seat with a top trim Sorento the Santa Fe offers an attractive alternative.
Perhaps the most revealing comparison is between the (US) top trim X-Line Sorento and the new Calligraphy version of the Santa Fe. MSRP's are nearly identical (circa $44,000). AWD and 20" wheels are standard in each as are 20" wheels. But the image each projects is somewhat different. Different, in fact, in a way that mirrors that of the Telluride and the Palisade. The top trim fully loaded Calligraphy Santa Fe projects a "near luxury" image similar to the Palisade while the X-Line Sorento presents a more rugged vibe with greater ground clearance, superior roof rails, a lever gear selector and more external cladding compared to the Santa Fe's additional bells and whistles that include true "nappa" leather upholstery compared to the Sorento's somewhat less premium leather and a dial gear selector rather than a lever.
In short, if you're more attracted to the Telluride than the Palisade, you may well prefer the Sorento. If your taste runs toward the Palisade the Santa Fe may well be your choice.
Santa fe! Can't wait to get the Santa fe Hybrid AWD in April
😁👍👍happy new year!.
Great job guys. I'd pick the Santa Fe, I prefer its interior and I'm OK with the exterior Look too.
WOW! A very well narrated and an “OBJECTIVE” view! Thank you for that!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed!
Wow amazing comparison video. Love the amount of thought you put into parity, especially the timing on your panning with the split screen! Liked and subscribed!
Great thank you! Welcome to the channel!
Thank you so much. This is a super helpful video.
Nice work - love the split screen comparison! It’s crazy but I like the Santa Fe exterior but the Sorento’s interior - both are really great values. You guys do the best automotive reviews on RUclips - so thanks!
Same here... Santa Fe exterior and Sorento interior. I was leaning on Santa Fe but, Sorento extra seating is making reconsider. Did you buy any of the two?
I have a santa fe and I am absolutely in love with it
Sorento all day, The sante-fe looks chubby and just weird, the serento has presence
@@DarrellRiddle for a lot of folks, it's better to have that third row as an emergency and keep it down then not have that option at all, Penalty Box for adults, may be suitable for small kids, even though I've never been a big fan of having anyone sit that close to a rear window
The Santa Fe goes for a more traditional road vehicle look, while the Sorento looks more off-road and truck like
Hahahahaha, Santa Fe will out sell the Sorento in a big way, and I always thought the MAJORITY had bad taste.
I think it's great to have both cars. Everyone has different needs -- and this video is nice in that it illustrates both the similarities and differences between the two cars.
Yes but exterior only, interior goes to santa fe
Great comparison. Affordable car for a suv. Thanks for this amazing comparison again. Hope you enjoy this sunday!
Thanks! Have a great Sunday as well!!
Excellent comparison, Guys! Since the Santa Fe has the rain sensing wipers and the memory seats that would be the one I would go for if I was looking for a new SUV. If the Sorento had these two features it would be a lot harder for me to choose one
Exactly, the Sorento just doesn't have half the features the Santa Fe does! I bought the limited in Stormy Seas Blue and I'm in LOVE
Very greatful for this comparison guys! Excellent work!
Thanks, Jan!
I just bought the 2021 Santa Fe Calligraphy!!! I have not been this excited in years about a car. The features compared to all others in this class are over the top. Most would expect to pay a lot more. Both cars in this comparison look great. I never made it to drive the Sorrento I was sold at the Santa Fe. They have been around for over 20 years and their warranty and free 36000 mile service sold me.
Love the 2 screen comparison. My wife and I enjoyed the video.
The interior of the Santa Fe and the exterior of the sorento.
One love from Nigeria 🇳🇬
Fantastic comparison!
Excellent review comparison!. Aesthetics aside, it comes down to whether you need that third row. Both are value propositions. By far the best video of the year (you have 360+ days to improve on that). :-)
Haha
Thanks, yeah I this is the best video of the year lol 🤣
Man you did good. Spot on and time saving oriented. Thank you
Glad it helped
Thanks for making this, exactly what I was looking for. Liked and subbed! Keep up the awesome work 👌
Glad you enjoyed and welcome to the Car Confections 'family'!
Vry nicely done comparison...good job...
I bought the top line Sorrento Prestige X-line AWD with 2.5 Turbo. Love it! It looks like anSUV but drives like a race car in sport mode! Cannot wait to try it in the snow and off-road!
The vid I’ve been expecting
Just got the sorento 2021 ex package and I love it. Kia all the way
Ordered my PHEV getting it tomorrow!!!
Combining these two cars would make a perfect SUV
Wishing you both a Happy, Safe, Healthy New year. I want to thank you for the content. I noticed a change / 'improvement in your format, and I value it. It retains brand values while updating them - thus avoiding 'communications wear-out' - too much repetition. I appreciate two perspectives while driving. One caution. Too much data in a single view / frame causes all of it to be jeopardized. Consider BG/FG/Subject '3' 'text items. There is a 'Rules of Seven' in text entries before info overload occurs. I'm consultative be nature, so take this with a grain of salt. I value you views, reviews, maturing objectivity, RUclips content and overall personal growth as communicators. Thank you. Do.
Thanks! Happy New Year to you also!!
Thank you so much for this video! Your comparison video has helped me a lot to make a decision between the Sante Fe and the Sorento. You have definitely earned a fan!
Glad we could help! 😁
Monique, which one have you decided to go with? It's a tough choice for me at this point.
@@nmuna3835 I decided to go with the Santa Fe 😃
Very good video, thanks!!
Thanks!
As many others have said below; “what a great comparison video” - I add my voice to that chorus and you get my subscription!
Thank you! And welcome to the Car Confections family! 😁
Just purchased a Santa Fe, Calligraphy, LOVE IT!
I really like your review format with split screen and realtime scoring. Very slick. However, your choice of engines make this crucial part of your reviews irrelevant outside the US. In Europe at least it would be much more interesting to compare the electric, hybrid and plug-in-hybrid versions.
Hyundai: Exterior isn't good, but interior makes up for it.
Kia: Exterior is nicer, but we don't have that many features.
Hello Friend, i like that you have put the video side by side and this provide the exact compression.. well done my friend.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the comparison!
Pretty good comparison and thanks because I'm trying to decide on a new vehicle. But I'll offer some suggestions. First, that you add a couple more facts/numbers e.g., you mention Sorento's extra ground clearance, but how much? If you drive in snow several months of the year it matters. And the review all takes place out in the country, but most of us live and drive in cities with pot holed streets, much more ambient noise, tight parking etc. So ride, quietness, maneuverability, turning radius all become much more important and different than when cruising down a country lane. And now do they compare at night, do they have puddle lights etc. Finally how can the Sorento have more interior space in 'truck' when it has a extra seat? What kind of magic is that? Still, even though I appear very critical, the review was not without its merits and I found it useful.
Excellent job with the review!
Thank you!
I am going to get the Calligraphy trim. Nice job guys!
Wow that is a great car. Enjoy
I ordered my Calligraphy and it should be here by the end of the month.
@@marcuswaston7739 What are u writing?
I will be getting the 2022 Calligraphy when it comes out.
The Santa Fe is lovely in and out 😊! The sorento is nice too along with its package 😃but I don’t really need a third row. Great review !
Thanks, glad you enjoyed!
Great job! By far best car review I’ve ever watched👌
Thanks! We appreciate that and hope you'll subscribe! 😁
@@CarConfections yep!
Excellent thanks needed to know which one I'm going to purchase. I became a new subscriber thanks!
Awesome, thank you! Welcome to the family 👍
One feature you didn't mention with the Santa Fe and that's the extra cargo space under the normal cargo space. This is great to hide stuff and keep stuff out of the sun.
We bought the 2021 Santa Fe Hybrid AWD Blue package and we don't regret it one bit. Better gas mileage over the limited package. Very comfortable ride.
Great stuffs
Love the santa fe.
Cool comparison video! I agree that the wheels look "odd" on the Santa Fe, but I think 19" is a much better choice. However, 20" on the more 'off-road oriented' Sorento X-line is nothing short of incomprehensible.
pls make video on new hyundai palisade calligraphy trim plsss(offroad and performance)
I’d definitely get sorento
The Santa Fe has more features, and more luxurious cabin.
Idk, Kias always felt cheap next to Hyundais imo. Maybe it’s just me
@@ARUclipsChannelwithNoName good for you. They aren’t like that anymore:)
Just purchased the Santa Fe and love it.
Is it a 7 seater?
@@user-bt3xz5cn4v not a 7 seater but in sport mode, it's like a rocket. I almost crash it in a parking lot.
Sorento is better looking in my mind and also has a 3rd row which is nice
The missing memory seats in the Sorento would drive me crazy, as my wife and I swap cars throughout the week often. But that Sorento in blue is absolutely killer. Looks more expensive that what it is. I like what Hyundai did with the Sante Fe too(the styling cohesion is far better executed here than in the the Palisade, IMO). I think it is going to do well in the marketplace.
I was shocked as well when he mentioned the lack of memory seats. Seems odd for the class.
Sorento comes with memory seats in the Asian market
I don't understand why they take a step back my 2016 sorento have the memory seat wth.... and wireless carplay only in base trim so you pay 15k more and you don't have wireless carplay on the 10.25 info screen 🤦♂️🤦♂️ but in all good car love better the santa fe interior
I would had 1 point to santa fe interior for the positioning of the nub for road condition the camera view and the lock whell santa fe easy reach on the center consol at the tip of ur finger... sorento more likely near ur elbow a bit awkward.
Same place on my sorento 2016 and it anoyed me.
Agree how the heck sorento top model don’t got a memory seat
Great review, I only have one suggestion, in the future you should use the same song in both vehicles when comparing stereo systems so we can tell if there is a difference on the sound.
Brilliant comparison. I would still have the Kia as i prefer its styling and extra row of seats.
Wife just got a 21 sorento sx prestige and she is super happy with it. Super feature packed car for 41k
Holy Molly this is insane. 👌👍👏👏👏
Santa Fe
Last month we decided to buy the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe last week. We don't regret it one bit.
I would pick the Santa Fe Calligraphy trim. No memory seats in the Sorento is a deal killer. Can't believe they left this feature out.
I would pick the Hyundai Santa Fe / purchased / happy with my choice
Comparing the two trim levels of those, what equipment/options were on the Sorento and not on the Santa Fe that boosted the price of the Sorento over the Santa Fe??
Dashboard design on Santa Fe reminds me of older generation Audi A8
Here in Australia, our top of the line Sorrento, called the GT line, has the remote park system, it also has memory drivers seat, and a rotary automatic gear selector. Kia Australia also has a 7yr unlimited kilometre warranty with capped price servicing and free roadside assistance for the term of the warranty. Seems for a change, Australia has the better features over its Hyundai counterparts.
I love my Hyundai Santa fe Calligraphy 2022 both inside and outside of the car look spectacular and the security system much better..
Wish I could still get Sorento without the 3rd row.. I don’t want to drive a bus. Also please compare the lower trim levels. Thanks.
I have a 2020 santa fe. I actually love both looks to both SUV
Just FYI - the Santa Fe calligraphy trim will have AWD as standard, special 20-inch wheels, quilted Nappa leather, and a full color head-up display.
The Calligraphy comes with 19 inch and 20 inch wheels.
No HUD on sorento at all?
@@deanpinkas To my knowledge, no. I even checked Kia’s website. I cannot find anywhere showing the North American model offering a HUD.
Kia has hud on top model
The US Spec model Sorento does not have HUD. I even confirmed with the dealership.
Howdy, excellent comparison as always y’all! I wish I could get the Sorento interior and the Hyundai exterior!😸😸
Nah, Kia interiors are trash imo
I'm still waiting for the Santa Cruz!
Very good review, Kia tail light is just nice lol
I vote for the Hyundai Santa Fe.
I'm with you guys on the Sorento being the better looking vehicle guys. I like the Santa Fe alot, but the overall look of the Sorento is just a bit nicer and I especially like the front end with it's LED fog lights over the Santa Fe! Great comparison review guys, and you can really see that both vehicles share the same basic powertrain, but with some key differences mentioned.
Even July or August my mom will be getting a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe SEL with the premium package. We getting the base 2.5 with front wheel drive. Because even it’s not the most powerful engine it still has pretty of power for us. And since we been living in SC for 2 and a half years now. We really don’t need AWD anymore. We had thoughts of maybe getting the Hybrid. But those are so hard to get the dealership said it could be 6 to 8 months before they get anymore in. Plus the one we getting it gets around between 28 to like 31 MPG.
Great job lads my money is on the Sorrento.. To me it looks way better both inside and outside
Sorento looks awesome, definitely is a winner SUV
Im loving the Santa fe
I like the looks of the Santa Fe a bit more.
Sorento looks sportier
@@PrituBhai And Santa Fe looks more luxurious
@@ARUclipsChannelwithNoName ur not wrong. When it comes an option for younger people, 55% would go for the sorento
Nice comparison
Thanks!
Bought the Santa Fe Limited in Stormy Seas Blue and lord I'm in love! The tech! The features! And that panoramic moonroof it literally takes up the entire roof. I looked at the Sorento and it just didn't compare at all. You'd have to lay down the third row to get any kind of trunk space anyways and it didn't have nearly as many features as the Santa Fe
Two things missing from the latest Kia Sorento, compared to the Santa Fe, is Hydraulic Hood Struts & Rear Window Sunshades. These two features were on the last Kia Sorento before the Telluride. Seems that Kia wanted to differentiate between the two models.
Also it must be noted that Hyundai offers Free Maintenance for the first 3 years or 36,000 miles.
Both vehicles are awesome 🤩
Picking a winner here is like the old Gilligans Island comparison of choosing Ginger vs Mary Ann. RIP Dawn Wells.
The Sorento is Ginger...
Mary Ann = Santa Fe
Really great job on the comparison! Suprised they updated the Santa FE after such a short timeframe. We've just started looking at SUVs, so this is very timely. So far, we've been to see Mazda's and Toyota's SUV line-up, but will need to put these on our list. My Wife's MOST important feature is seat comfort (cushy but supportive), while mine is the driving engagement and steering feel. Of these two, which has the most "seating comfort" for long drives in your opinions (given that this is subjective as is the styling)? Thanks!
Sonata or Sorento?
@@2004cyrus *Edited: Sorry too many S's lol after a long day. Of course I meant between these two, Santa FE or Sorento.
@@modmatt1 lol and you are trying to add too many “r’s” too lol
Huh! For being under the same umbrella I’m surprised that they don’t share more interior parts! Kudos to them for even changing the switch gear of the seat adjustments and not cheeping out.
Other brands need to take note *cough cough* Lincoln, GM, FCA
I'll be in the city 99% of the time and the Santa Fe's styling just makes more sense.
I’m way more of a Hyundai person but Kias are literally ahead of Hyundai right now. I used to always feel like Kias were the jitterbug (phone) of the car world because the styling looked like kids toys.🤷🏽♂️ The Santa Fe looked much better in 2019/2020 tbh. This one looks like 100 people designed it with different taste and just put it together. Very odd combination of old and futuristic. And I HATE all those control buttons that look like an airplane cockpit ugh, and I’d prefer an actual gear shift. And the rims are simply hideous! Now to the Kia! The interior is a little over the top for me but is much better than the Santa Fe. I’m so glad they made this Sorento look like an actual SUV because the previous ones looked like minivans. Great review!
Maybe do a comparison of the BASE MODELS of Sorento Vs Santa Fe.
Yeah, I think the car manufacturers like to loan out their top trims to reviewers. But more people want to see the versions they might be able to afford.
They both are beautiful SUVs! I’m conflicted since I find myself liking the outside of the Santa Fe a little more, but the inside of the Sorento a little more! lol 😝 Great job guys!!
Calligraphy trim on Santa Fe is just as nice
Santa Fe for the features! Rear heated seats, smart park, suede headliner, HUD, 14-way seats, and phone as key.
@@leroy5202 I’d pick the Santa Fe, but just like the interior of the Sorento design better, that’s all.
one of each! please!.😁👍🌹
Skipping both and waiting patiently for Hyundai Tucson 2022.
I currently own a 2019 Santa Fe ultimate and was excited for the hyrbid models coming out for both. I test drove the top of the line sorento but was greatly disappointed that for the $44k sticker price, it doesn't have memory seats, HUD, heated rear seats, automatic wipers, or smart park to name a few things. Just to have third row seats (disappointed hyundai took it off for US market) and fog lights, it's not worth the price.
Hopefully, the hybrid Santa Fe will have all the tech gadgets as the calligraphy and if so, that will be the vehicle I purchase. I just hate when manufactures downgrade the hybrid versions or make them look hideous. Just because it's a hybrid doesn't mean I want to sacrifice the bells and whistles.
Santa Fe love it
