My wife originally wanted the Telluride, but after finding out dealers in the US were gouging prices, I decided to look at the Palisade. We ended up with an SEL with the convenience pkg, which included the much nicer 20" wheels and many more amenities. We almost have 20K miles on it now and are averaging 23mpg. I have gotten used to, and actually love the push button gear selector and the paddles make it a little more fun when the mood strikes. It also allows for a shelf on the floor under the center console which gives it better storage packaging over the Telluride. Hyundai dealers were way more willing to deal on the Palisade as well. The reason it became a no brainer. Oh yeah, Car and Driver actually got 6.8 secs to 60mph in the Palisade and 7.0 secs in the Telluride.
Post Video thoughts: get the telluride if you spend more time outside of your suv looking at it. Get the Palisade if you spend more time inside the suv actually driving it.

yup, and I totally agree with him. Having owned a Acura with push button on a TLX for 4 years it is the most cumbersome and slow shifting piece of garbage out there. Even on the new TLX, RDX, and MDX it is pretty much a deal breaker for me now.
The push button shift selector is simple to use and very practical. It takes time to get adjusted to but I would never say it’s cumbersome at all! In fact, it’s the complete opposite.
I own a Palisade and the button selector didnt bother me until I needed to back out, and immediately go, in traffic. With a gear shifter you can flip the car from reverse, to drive, while it is drifting back...with the drive by wire, and understand it is a safety feature, you need to come to a stop before it will go into drive. Add in the cross traffic sensoring and you feel like a sitting duck. It is a one time life lesson. It quickly taught me to be more patient.
@@GoofieNewfie Maybe the Acura system isn't as intuitive, but I have quickly gotten used to and love the push button gear shift on our Palisade. Just a matter of learning where each button is geographically.

When I first saw the 2, I thought I would like the Telluride. Then I saw a Palisade in real life. My wife and I bought the Palisade. One of the best vehicles I have EVER owned.
Happened to us! My mom initially wanted a Toyota Highlander, as she had an older one. However, she discovered these two. She took a look at the Telluride first, but wasn’t fully sold on it, and had doubts on the Palisade. Then she and I finally took the time to test drive it and actually look on the inside of it. She loved it. Expecting delivery of her Palisade Calligraphy in the beginning of December. Absolutely stunning car.
Lol the lack of due diligence beyond just insane. 1. Wait till its always at the dealership getting fixed and inevitably has catastrophic failure, most likely just out of warranty. 2. Then you'll be faced with should I fix or sell it... but by then it'll be worth nothing when compared to a Japanese competitor. Even before the failure it's resale value is the equivalent of garbage. Your choice and your money, waste it how you please.
@@schafer240 we’ve owned a highlander for the past 8 years. a friend of ours has owned a Veracruz and abused it more than our highlander for more than 10 years. Nothing wrong with either car. I know it’s anecdotal, but the Hyundai has already proven itself indestructible. Our switch from the Highlander to the Palisade was one of the best switches we’ve made from a Toyota to a Hyundai. You can continue to be negative and insistent upon Japanese superiority, but Kia and Hyundai are competitors to be taken seriously. All of their cars in the past 2 or so years have stepped it up in reliability(their cars were already pretty solid beforehand, not as good as Toyota of course, but now is a different story), and the appeal to it is insane. Regardless of reliability, you’re getting a huge value proposition with both the Telluride and Palisade. You get features(and cargo space) on those two cars that competitors like the Pilot, the Highlander, and the CX-9 simply don’t have. You’re buying a level of comfort that others don’t match as well. The amount of car you get for $50,000 is absolutely crazy given competitors prices and offerings in their cars. edited a word for misspelling

@@lordmeme_ you state reliability has been increased in the last two years... this would suggest a track record of two years of reliability... how is that proven? Look at resale value that's a direct comparison of the Precieved value of a used vehicle. There's a reason Korean are so low. And that money you saved up front you lost hands over fist in resale, not to mention repair bills, down time (cost of your time to deal with it, if you care about that) and on top of it image if your keeping up with the Jones and there lexus, etc. The bang for buck at the beginning is a distraction, to bias your common sense. Just like dodge, another poorly made product. It's a distraction, from poor material quality and lack of engineering to a corner cut product. If you don't believe me... ask mechanic about their opinion and what they drive.
They are both fine, the difference is the Palisade is more white collar and the Telluride is more blue collar. Kind of a brilliant strategy on Hyundai's part to capture both kinds of buyers.
It’s funny how this came out over 1.5 years ago and in the intro James mentions how cool the orange DRLs are and that it’s the biggest reason he prefers the Telluride over the Palisade, and now on the ‘23 they changed the DRLs and it’s easily the biggest complaint lol 😂

@@cb9137 I own a 2020 Sonata SEL and have had it for a bit over 6 months. No problems whatsoever and it has been serviced once (3 year complimentary service) in the 9000 miles I daily it. I'm in CA and got my Sonata for a great deal with 0% interest for 60 months and $399 monthly payment. This is with it being fully loaded for an SEL. I chose it over the Camry and Accord because even though they are somewhat reliable and good cars, they felt dated. The interior in the Sonata won't feel so outdated for many years to come, in my opinion. I commute a little over 40 miles and usually average 37-42 mpgs going about 65-76 mphs. The ride is definitely comfortable, especially with the Tesla like auto drive and lane keep assistance. I'd definitely recommend this vehicle to someone, or even the new Kia K5 if you're looking for a similar car without the interior setup/appearance of the Sonata.

One of my neighbours bought a Palisade a few months ago. He and his wife say the same thing: "It's a good SUV...for a Hyundai". Even as a sports/luxury car enthusiast, those are not my words.
We LOVE our Pallisade. So far it’s the best vehicle we have ever owned by far. I am sold on the brand after many Nissans and other Kias, Subarus in the past. You can’t go wrong with either, but; after driving both several times we opted for Hyundai which has a superior interior if you have three growing active boys.
My wife and myself have been shopping these vehicles. We ve had a hardtime deciding. The 2021 Telluride when built offers a rear entertainment system, which helped us decide over the palisade. Awesome video guys!

I think they are the same vehicle that have been made specifically for 2 markets. The Palisade is a bit more urban and for the traditional customer, the person who has been driving for a long time and prefers comfort over sport now. The Telluride is a bit more rural and for the younger buyer who's finally made it in life, a little sportier, more showy and ruggedized looks like it can probably actually go off-road and be in its place
In the US, the 2020 Telluride also came with the Alcantara/suede like roof liner in the SX Prestige Package. It was also bundled with the HUD, perforated leather, and heated and cooled front and 2nd row seats.
This video is several months old, but I’ve been driving a Palisade for two months (this video is actually what convinced my husband and I to buy one) and can confirm that the shifts - especially past the 2nd and 3rd - are INSANELY smooth.

I like the telluride better inside and out. More rugged looking. I know many people prefer the interior on the palisade over the telluride but I wasn’t a huge fan and I don’t see it aging all that well in my opinion. I test drove both, and ordered the Kia.
I test drove both the top models of the palisade and telluride and much preferred the telluride to the palisade. 15:00 that is not the top trim Telluride, at least not in the US. That is an SX but without the SX Prestige Package, which has a higher quality interior including the alcantara headliner and higher quality leather seats.
The one they’re reviewing is the top trim, at the Canadian spec one. It has the heads up display that only the SX Prestige comes with. However, the SX Prestige here in the States comes with the alcantara headliner and nappa leather seating.

Personally, I think the Telluride looks better inside and out, but it's really neat to have two different versions of essentially the same vehicle to pick from, depending on your style preference. Also, I don't know about in Canada, but the top trim Telluride in the US has the "Suede" headliner, as well
It does, I work for Kia, they have an SX Nightfall which yes is the top trim, but not fully loaded, there’s a “Prestige” package that goes on top of nightfall and adds (Nappa Leather, suede headliner, etc.)
The Nightfall edition is actually A step down from the normal SX version. The normal SX has better rims and looks a little more premium. Also you get nappa leather on that and a microfiber alcantara like headliner the same as the one in the Palaside.
Fun and informative review. I prefer the boxy shape of the Kia Telluride. Also, Telluride top trim has fog lights and folding mirrors (in U.S. spec) that you don't get with Palisade.

The first comparison video that actually made sense. This might be too much to ask but when reviewing big cars - get some of your friends in them just so we can have an idea of how it rides/looks when fully loaded. This is a family mover. Generally, families looking into this market segment are more than 2 - more like more than 4.
They are both great cars. For me, I bought the Telly SX and it just came down to style and personal preference. The first time I saw a Palisade, it just didn't grab my attention and, in fact I really thought the front end was fugly. But the first time I saw a Telluride in a Cosco parking lot it stopped me in my tracks. The looks of that car were so unique I had to go take a closer look and thus began my quest to get a Telluride. The looks of the Telly really got my attention. I find the Palisade too "blingy" for my taste, whereas the Telly looks more rugged and "purpose made." Is the interior nicer in the Palisade? Maybe, depending on how you define nicer. Personally I don't care for it. I like the analog gauges of the Telly and definitely like the real shift lever. I'm not knocking the Palisade, it's a great car to be sure, but the styling and overall look just isn't my cup of tea.
@@babasunday309 Actually the third row seats were roomier than I thought they would be. My wife and Daughter in Law, who are both on the shorter side, often ride back there quite easily. My 2 sons are over 6 foot and can ride back there ok, but I would not want to have to go on a long trip with them back there. I'm 5'10 and I can sit back there just fine, but to be honest, there isn't a lot of room for me to stretch out my legs, so for long trips, you'd want to have kids or smaller adults in the third row. If you can find one on a lot (good luck) or find someone in your area with a Telly, see if you can get m up-close look and see if it meets your needs.

A big plus is the snow mode, 4 wheel lock, and sage green diamond stitch naopa leather seats with the infotainment system for the kids and sway roof.
*One major correction about the Telluride interior:* while you have the top-trim SX, it is without the highest-tier package, i.e. "Prestige"--and with it, you get premium nappa leather seating AND the same Alcantara headliner as the Palisade in this video. And like you said, having the black vs. lighter grey makes a difference--and the Telluride offers light-grey leather, too
Love the Telluride. Just ordered an SX Prestige Nightfall to replace our '16 MDX. It won us over the new Acura MDX and other competitors with the space, style, and bang for the buck. 10 year warranty was nice too, especially considering our '16 MDX is having transmission issues already and it is very much out of warranty.
The Kia Telluride too has a digital instrument cluster on the top SX trim. Nice review guys. Slowly the stereotype on the Kia/Hyundai brand is dying out fast.

Hyundai =💩💩💩💩💩

Sounded like Jason camisa
@@GoofieNewfie
Maybe the Acura system isn't as intuitive, but I have quickly gotten used to and love the push button gear shift on our Palisade. Just a matter of learning where each button is geographically.
I’m quite jealous you guys are able to review many cars like this in the true form of a unbiased review and with humor. It’s a pleasure following your videos.
Looked at both. The deal breaker for the Hyundai was the lack of folding mirrors which the Kia has. At this level, that should be standard now.
3rd row power folding is there in palisade and is lacked in telluride and 3 year free scheduled maintenance for just hyundai, it has its own perks

Maybe, depending on how you define nicer. Personally I don't care for it. I like the analog gauges of the Telly and definitely like the real shift lever. I'm 5'10 and I can sit back there just fine, but to be honest, there isn't a lot of room for me to stretch out my legs, so for long trips, you'd want to have kids or smaller adults in the third row. @@ebonix33 Demand so high. They didn’t produce enough so now there’s a wait to get one.
@@telluridelover2417 I was going to ask what do you think of your new ride but your name says it all.
@@telluridelover2417 Happy to hear! This will be my wife’s vehicle and because none were available, she got to choose the colors, the model and options that she wanted.
The orange daytime running lights IS THE reason to get one tho. That and you can actually get fog lights on it where you can't on the Hyundai. I do however prefer the Palisades gauge cluster. The blind spot cameras are just 👄👌
We bought the Kia Telluride SX Nightfall Edition in Gravity Gray . We absolutely love it. It sincerely feels like a luxury SUV.
I’d go with the Telluride
Why the plasade is sooo much better than the telluride the plasade is more luxury than the telluride and the plasade is more cheaper and the plasade is more faster and the plasade has more tech and the plasade looks better
@@iqsuperkid7523 I agree but I think the Telluride is better looking
@@HighPeakAutos what are you joking the plasade looks better
@@HighPeakAutos the telluride grill kinda looks like a range rover gril
@@HighPeakAutos the plasade looks like a 3 row suv it is a 3 row but the kia looks like a 2 row suv even tho it's not
Quality mixed with fun... Love these guys
I prefer the Telluride for its simplicity. Manual 3rd row seats mean less weight and less things to break.
The auto seat adjustment in palisade isn't weak and fragile they are installed after testing , they haven't just put it without testing .
Big unmentioned Telluride win: power folding mirrors. Aside from the wind noise, not having those on Palisade is my only gripe.
I have a 2020 Telluride SX and love it! Purchased it in July of 2019 and paid 5k over list! Dealer wouldn't budge but for what you get I found it was worth it! Looked at a 2023 a week ago and dealer was marking them up 13k! Only 2 on his lot and they were cheaper mods, can't even find the SX! CRAZY but they're selling! BTW it is the best vehicle I've ever owned and says a lot being I'm retired from GM!
