We had amazing R&B/soul music that played on major radio stations in the 80s and early 90s. Anita Toni Braxton Natalie Merchant....there were so many that had amazing vocals. I can not even turn on a major radio station today as it is like nails on a chalk board screeching across. I was spoiled with truely good healthy love filled soul tickling music. Such powerful voices and words that resonated thru the body making you cry smile and truely just enjoy being alive.
Love her music. Trying not to share TMI, but I'm pretty sure listening to her music had a pretty direct impact on the circumstances that led to the conception of at least one of our children. She is truly amazing.
I was hooked the first time I heard her sing! Her undeniable beauty is apparent and to me this is the epitome of "soul" music! I truly feel it in my soul!
Miss Anita Baker was from my hometown and she was extremely popular with everyone in our state of Michigan. Love me some Anita! Still have her in my CD player. Listen to been so long, that is by far her best song she has ever done. She showcases scatting and her amazing range. Thank you for sharing this ❤ I hope everyone has a beautiful day.
@@tonydelapa1911 . Yes. She was born in Ohio but was adopted by a couple from Detroit Michigan and grew up singing in her church in Detroit. She still lives here in Michigan Or last I checked. We have many amazing singers from here including Debarge , Lizzo , Stevie Wonder Uncle Cracker and many more.
@@Nonayabizness360 I am a big fan of Sixto Rodriguez, who died within the past year, from over your way. You may know of him as the subject of the movie “Searching for Sugar Man.” One of my favorite movies. It won the Academy Award for best documentary in, I think, 2012.
Check out something different from Anita Baker in the 90’s , check out Anita Baker and James Ingram “ When You Love Someone “, this is the beautiful music that was still made in the 90’s that is not popular anymore…
You are right. "Wow, what a voice"

I opened a retail music(CDs) store in Michigan in 1988. We sold a lot of AB but I don’t think I ever knew she is from MI.
