Barry's arc in the Injustice universe stems from how he's the kind of person who went along with Superman's regime because he believed that it was for the greater good. Superman's doing all of this crazy shit, but to Barry and even to Clark initially, it was out of wanting to better the world, regardless of what it took. Like you said, Barry's role in Superman's story in this universe was to be the angel on his shoulder, while Clark's guilt and Diana were the devils on the other shoulder. When Clark killed Billy, that was the breaking point where Barry no longer saw Superman's actions are justifiable. Unlike most Injustice characters, Barry's one of the few that has an actual coherent character arc that isn't undermined by any status quo (for this universe), and learning about the Australian boy in the Injustice comics only adds to Barry's character. He stood by Superman because he thought Superman was doing things for the better, but because of personal bias and a mix of guilt and shame, Barry didn't see the writing on the wall. Barry may have not been evil or malicious, but his complicitness in Superman and the League's actions speak louder than words can. I'm glad he's one of the few bright spots in this universe, because Injustice is pretty bleak otherwise.

Barry was the one person in the Regime I could forgive because he was the only one who saw something so horrific that he could no longer deny reality and turned sides. And he turned himself in to boot. He's the fastest man alive and could have avoided capture, but the content of his character was such that he couldn't bring himself to do it. He had to face justice, and he knew it.

My most favorite Flash moment in Injustice is the scene where Barry and Hal are sitting on top of some bridge, and Barry asks basically 'Are we the good guys?"
And the conversation basically ends with pointing out two questions. Did Superman kill (i think it was Alfred at the time), and if he did, as Hal puts it "Do you think you can stop him?(superman)"
And i think that really boils down just how many different angles there were throughout the entire series, but regardless of the angles, when the big question came up, it was either "Is superman wrong" or "Who can even stop him?"

That caught me so off guard.
This is a great storyline, because it really highlights the whole "Good people are capable of evil even if they think they're not" and also, that just because someone does bad things doesn't make them a bad person. Considering the situation they're in is important, yes there are people who's morals never steer them right, but in this case, Barry did his time for what he did, he accepted the consequences of his actions, or more of his inactions, and he tries to atone for what he did. He's not a bad person, just a person in a bad situation, he didn't know what else to do and his moral compass was being seriously skewed.

After he had enough he defected from superman turned himself in. In injustice 2 he was pardon by batman but he struggled to gain the trust of the people and heroes again. He did thanks to the professor, Bruce and hal who went through hell to get his ring back and now barry has a friend who just like him are working hard to gain the people's trust after what they did.

as contrived a story injustice can be, i really love characters like flash and super girl, super girl because she gets fed their idolysation of superman and hatred of batman as a blank slate and see what they genuinly believe with all the details of what they done to achieve their utopia would make them seem worse than the evil they stopped, yes even the joker cause while he done unspeakable things, his evil was anarchistic. he was evil for evils sake meanwhile superman his evil was for the sake of subjegation, and also he did directly decide to destroy metropolis and gothem himself so yeah at the end of his descent he was literally just as evil.
but while karas story fits more at the end of the journey, flash works along that journey, not having such a black and white view on things, cause the biggest flaw with injustice is focusing so much on batman not killing joker, like at a certain point someone should really say "it's been a decade clark you've killed more than the joker ever had" and flash is the one regieme member to not use jokers existance to justify the regiemes existance, more thinking killing villains is where the line is drawn and gets uncomfortable at the protests and the government toppling, only sticking by cause crime has been reduced so it's net good.
billys murder being the tipping point is definitely fitting cause the other killings had motive or were against a faceless crowd, but that killing was entirely personal and against a child who not long before saved his life. flash's arc is the best in the series and it makes sense that his patience would require one big event to break the idealised image, seemingly just like an abuse victim.

Even in this universe, Barry is my favorite character. He tries so hard to do the right thing, though he fucks up occasionally

2:35 This is one part of contention in the comics I never really fully agreed with, earth is being invaded by Darkseid and parademons, parademons are simply mindless creatures created by Darkseid, killing them doesnt feel like much a sin, you cant just knock them out and they will retreat, they were made to fight
