Thank you MR grayfurnaceman your video was amazing I learn from your simple video that help me to improve my knowledge in HVAC. Usually we don't use this tool when evacuating the air. But now I will do.
Nice video, If I may I would like to add a couple of tips and agree with you that this tool should only be used to replace valve cores. When you are removing the shrader valve as you are letting the tool push back from the pressure you should be turning it at the same time because sometimes the valve will get stuck in the ball valve opening. Also before removing this tool I always open the ball valve first to make sure the core is sealed tight before removing the tool, that way you are not fighting it to get it back on if something happens. This tool saved my but one time, I had gauges hooked up and when I went to take them off the plunger somehow got caught on the valve and bent the shrader valve core and it was stuck open. Luckily I had this tool to change it. This is a must have and is 50 bucks very well spent. I have the yellow jacket one and am going to order the Hilmor, just started buying their tools and all I can say is their quality of tools is outstanding.
Great demonstration. Anyone wondering why you don't want to dump the charge, An AC tech told me the refrigerant cost about $420-$499 per lb and the unit may take 2-4 lbs. .
All your videos are excellent- THANK YOU for making them. I am now HVAC organized crime service free. It really is hard to find good help that tells the truth. Thanks again.
I can see where this tool would be very helpful. I can also see where it could be another device susceptible to leaking. Look at the Yellow Jacket instructions for a rebuild. There are many rubber o rings that could degrade over time. Great tool for intended use though. Great video too! Thanks.
I know this is really old video and I hope you can answer a question I have. I can’t seem to get new core pushed in to a charged system. The plunger seems impossible to push in far enough under pressure. Pressure Keeps pushing pushing the plunger out and can’t seem to get new one to lined up or something. Any tips other than keep trying. I have the valve open with the removal tool on but pressure is really strong
I have a new ductless mini that I am going to install in a few weeks. Do you recommend removing the Schrader valve from the suction side when pulling a vacuum? Thank you.
i was wondering if you can do a video on different readings on gauges, such as restrictions, condensibles, over charge ,fluctuating high side ,and any crazy readings and if you can on analong guages. thanks for all you do
Thank you very much. This is the only video I found that explained the use. Others just said use it! I have a ?... Do you have to purge your guage hoses just to check your charge? Thanks in advance.
I had a cond today with a leaking valve. It had a 90 bend two inches from the valve so I had no room to replace the schrader. The unit looked 40 years old, vertical fan. I just tightened a valve cap with a seal
dossen2620 If you look close to the unit I am using, there is no space to use the removal tool on the liquid line, and I can still do it. I will do a video on it. I have followed numerous "tightened cap" repairs. They do not work. Fix it right then you won't have to come back. GFM
One very important point when you are unscrewing the shrader valve you MUST hold pressure inward on the plunger as it wants to push out disengaging the tool before the shrader is fully unscrewed. I usually unscrew it at least 6 or 7 turns.
can I hook this up to my cars fuel rail while the pressure is still in the rail... then remove the fuel line schrader valve while a fuel line hose(to a gas can) is hooked up to the tools test port with THAT schrader valve in the test port already removed... then just turn the pump on and push fuel out of the fuel rail through the schrader tools testing port?
I have the same tool and have yet to get any out while system has charge. It just clicks and clicks and won't come out while I slowly back it out. Any suggestions?
For evacuation I use this tool all the time With my micron gauge and one hose directly to my evacuation pump works great and fast the best part you can close the ball valve to isolate the evacuation pump to see if you are holding a Deep Vacuum.
amtpdb1 The cost is in the low $50. This one and the Appion brand both cost about the same. They are both rated for vacuum. I do believe the Appion holds the schrader better. I will test both side by side in the future. I hesitate to use these tools for vacuum because the tool adds more possibilities for leaks during evacuation. Hope this helps. GFM

Thank you Hank Hill for enlightening me on schrader valves.
Glad I wasn't the only one thinking this.
Regardless, it was a very informative video.
GFM, thank you for posting this video on the schradar removal tool!

Very informative. Thank you for the demonstration and explanation!!

Thank you for this awesome presentation. You are a God-send. Now I will order my removal tool from Amazon and get to work. Am just a homeowner.
Good luck.
GFM
Thank you for explaining. The other day I lost a lot of refrigerant because I did not know how to use a schrader valve tool 😏
Great video. Simple and to the point. Thank you.

I ordered a set of those for replacing auto ac valves...very good invention...

Switched from residential to commercial you help out a ton brother thank you
Welcome and good luck.

Do you like commercial better?

No!
This price for 30 Lb - for full tank .

Useful video. Thanks Sir.
Sweet thank you so much I was curious how that tool worked

Very nice. A great help.
Well done, I have the same yellow jacket core tool

The tool is not meant for permanent installation, or evacuation.

Thank you! Great video!

Yes. You will usually get a better evac.

You do not have to purge for a check but I always do because I don't want to forget and add charge.

so nice and easy...
but what you would do if half of the core stays stuck on the valve?
+Ricardo Herrera Replace the valve or you can braze a line tap on to the schraeder. I did a video on brazing the line tap. Check my channel.
Thank you
Are high and low sides the same size, or do you need a different tool .... like for auto AC?
They are the same. So far, they have not messed with these A/Cs. Who knows in the future.

I have not used it for this but if the fitting is 1/4" flare, it would probably work.

cool tool

Richard Baylis You can try the Appion. It is said to be better at holding the core.

nice video excellent tool

Les Swift It does work for evacuation. I don't use it as I want as few connections as I can get.
GFM
grayfurnaceman How can you get fewer connections With micron gauge and one hose directly to the evacuation pump.
Les Swift The tool itself has 4 seals that could leak.
GFM
What does yellow charge for that tool?
Thanks
Thanks for your response.

grayfurnaceman Thanks and have a nice weekend.
Good method. This spring/summer I'm going to be using that technique as well.
PS Nice videos.
Hank Hill?
You don't have to dump charge, you can pump down the system as well lol
If you use the tool, you will not have to pump it down.
GFM
Also these are a necessity for a quick recovery of refrigerant especially when working with R410a.
I’ve tried it …. Doesn’t work unfortunately…. It’s very hard to use it probably…
He obviously talks like he has a wife which is great.
I’m so tired of the Bluon ads.
