I have to say, "Master and Commander" is probably my favorite nautically themed movie. The depiction of life at sea, the strategies involved in naval warfare of the time, and the soundtrack were each above reproach.

As a little kid I always wanted to be a pirate. I called Disney’s Peter Pan movie ”Captain Hook”, am a big fan of the Pirates of The Carribbean Trilogy (yes in my mind it’s a trilogy) and at 4 years old I wore a plastic hook on my right hand until I was 5.
But my favorite nautical story that I have literally grown up with and still am fascinated by is ONE PIECE. It is a story of friendship, adventure and freedom. I have all the books. It will always have a place in my heart. Always.
Thanks for your videos, man! The elegant victorian setting and the unique decks you review give me lots of inspiration as an illustrator.

Amazing project by Lorenzo and awesome spotlight video on it! Been looking forward to this project since Lorenzo teased it and has shared progress with it.
Although Captain Ron is one of my favorite stories of El Carib and the Spanish Main, Master and Commander is a great mix of brute seafaring action and drama.
    Great job as always, Wake!!

Cannot wait for this to launch tomorrow. My favorite nautical story is a short story by Peter S. Beagle (The Last Unicron) Salt Wine. It appears in a collection called Mermaids and Other Mysteries of the Deep.
My favorite nautical narrative of all time, however, is the Punch Brother's cover of Another New World.

There are so many amazing movies, series and books as well with the mysterious and intriguing nautical theme, and to summarize my favorite part of all those - piracy connected mysteries. If I had to choose one, I'd be mad at myself for not mentioning the other, so I'll choose one of each platform - 1 book, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas, and one more modern approach, the series Black Sails.
I gotta say those decks look amazing, it would be nothing less than pure joy to have one in my collection. Stay wake, gentlemen!

My favourite nautically themed movie is hands down Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. I don't know how they did it, but it's so immersive, thoughtful and captivating. I feel like I get a real glimpse into life on board ship at that time. And the relationship between Maturin and Cpt Aubrey is wonderful. I really wish they would have made more films.

Can I name a game instead for my favourite nautically theme media? It'll be Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. Probably the best game ever if you want to immerse yourself as a pirate. And it's also thematically close to this project as well, with the hidden civilizations being hinted over the meta-story.
On the movie side, it's definitely the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy : )

As far as nautical movies go, Pirates of the Caribbean is always fun! I liked Master & Commander but that's a bit more serious so not really something to watch on a lazy Sunday afternoon :) And as for nautical books, this might be an unconventional choice but one of my favorite book series that has quite a lot of travel on the oceans is Naomi Novik's "dragons in the time of Napolean" series Temeraire, which starts with His Majesty's Dragon and is about Captain Will Lawrence, who transforms from ship captain to the rider of a dragon used in war. There is a lot of ship travel, and I found it interesting.
