While I agree with you that USA has some of the best players in the world, that confidence you have is the same confidence wich usa had before losing to argentina in 2004. We also lost to Lithuania and Italy so that team wasn't very good. Lebron, Melo, etc. were rookies that year. Some of the best players? Try ALL of the best players. Not a single player from Argentina would make USA's team. Not one. Ginoboli would not be taking Kobe or Chris Paul's spot. 2004 was a fluke. Just look at what happened just 2 years later in 2006. 15 point win for USA and every game since has been a blowout. Not even close.

Shaq, Garnett, Kobe were all in their primes. I mean we lost to Puerto Rico by 19 points. Also lost to Lithuania and Italy. So Argentina didnt' do anything special. We had a bad team that practiced for just 2 weeks before the Olympics. 2006, 2008, and every year after that we destroyed Argentina. Not even close.
