Lady Honeybee From different experiences, like Deer, it has a very gamey or near rancid taste due to the diet and wildness of the eating habits. Oftentimes spices and marination are key elements in the preparation for human consumption. I've tasted deer in the past and still you have to build up a tolerance for the way it still taste like. I've read that bear meat is very fatty and pungent.

What bothers me about this show is they never showcased Mexican food. Then again, imagine the guy who uses tacos for every food match winning every match

My guess is that they wanted to stick with food that influenced Japanese cooking or the other way around (where Japanese cooking influenced other styles). Correct me if I’m wrong, but I assume Latin style and possibly Spanish style cooking never really caught on in Japan. But I agree, as a Latino I would’ve love to have seen a cooking of Hispanic dishes in gourmet fashion. Especially since there are Italian characters and not Hispanic characters
@@miguelfernandez3201 I mean, I definitely ran into a few Mexican restaurants in Japan, but there was definitely not that much. A lot more Indian, Italian, Chinese or American.
