@@birdbonezone if u wanna go to the olympics that is. As long as ur bones and body can physically handle balancing, jumping, and spinning on thin steel blades in a below 0 degree ice rink, I think u should go for it.
i started getting into ice skating when I was 10 after going for my friend’s birthday, and since then i’d never gone again. When I turned 12 I saw a clip of Yuzuru and Yuna and thought, ‘wow that’s so cool it’s like dancing and doing gymnastics on the ice!’ i still had little knowledge about figure skating but a few years later, and I went ice skating last week with my mum, i knew then and there that Ice skating would be my ‘outlet’ for when i need to feel free and not stressed from school. Currently I’m looking into a club so that I can practice my skills and eventually start figure skating :) However the closest rink is around an hour away on public transport so that’s a bummer. Watching this video definitely makes me miss the ice again and motivates me to go for it no matter what. Your skill is incredible and I know that you will be a wonderful skater, you are very talented. 😊
I just found your channel and i was shocked to see that you skate at a rink nearby! You are a beautiful skater and it was really fun watching your jump progression and fails because that makes it seem more human, rather than something unachievable. I have been skating on and off for a couple years but never tried figure skating before, i really want to get into it and learn. My main obstacle right now is finding the right rink to practice in and times to practice that aren’t only public skate (because those are very crowded at the rink i go to) im not sure how to find good teachers either.. it’s a confusing process and pointers would be very appreciated!
@@RachelLiza thank you so much! I can’t believe you replied! Ur an inspiration to me and I’m an Australian who does ice skating and ice rinks aren’t very close so urs grader to skate! I'm so glad you posted again you are one of my inspiration when I started skating I'm on level 3 now! I hope I get good as you in the future.. lots of love from the Philippines
I absolutely love your content. I am also a NWP competitive figure skater and just started a YT. You alongside Eye Katie are my inspiration! BTW, I absolutely love that rink.
Hey,Rachel! 💗 First of all i have to say that i just adore ur videos, they are so comforting for some reason XD I have a few simple questions: - How many hours do you exercise? - How long is your warm up routine? - How much time do you spend skating at the rink/day? I would be so happy if you could answer them ♡ Have a good day, love u!❤️❤️
I just got my double axel a year ago, you might find it a little helpful to try to do it on one of the circles around the rink with a little more speed. This is how I ended up landing mine!!! I hope that this might help! Btw I love your content!!!💖 Edit: Btw your flying spins are amazing!!! I’m really bad at mine 🥲
Hi Rachel, I'm so happy to see another skating vlog on your channel, these are my favourite. I have a quick question... I started learning to skate a year ago and am loving it so much. When you say you teach.. did you have to do take any specific tests or course to allow you to teach other people?,
i’m a junior coach right now, so i only teach basic skills levels. i don’t know if there is a specific rule at your rink but i did not. the skating director knows me and she knows i’ve been doing learn to skate for years
I’m not Rachel but I am also a figure skater and in my experience and from what I’ve heard from other skaters to teach at learn to skate especially at the more basic level u don’t need any sort of formal certification. How I’ve seen it work is u usually join a skating club at ur local rink and through that club volunteer as like kinda an assistant?? (Like u help another coach and aren’t the main person in charge) in the learn to skates and after u do it for a while(a few years) especially if ur older like 18+ you can start teaching on ur own with a basic class like snowplow Sam. I’ve had friends who assisted from their tween years and went to college nearby and got their own group to teach after graduating high school. Idk if this made sense but yeah hope it was helpful lol
i’ve just started figure skating at 14 which i hope isn’t too old bc it’s genuinely been my dream since forever but i’ve never really gotten the opportunity
whats kinda fun is i also went to practice today and shopping afterwards, very rare i must say!! usually im DEAD after hours of practice lol btw any tips for getting comfy with jumping from backwards (loop, flip etc) those are the jumps im most hesitant to do lol
I didn't have the motivation to skate again after my father's death. Your videos motivated me I think that I'll practice again it's been two months and I miss my skates 😭👍
I am 9, and I have seen a 21 year old say they are too young, My Mum is 45 and she still figure skates she's been skating since she was around about 7!
I’m taking iceskating lessons and I’m 10 years old and I really really want to become a professional ice skater that’s my dream job so seen this video is really encourage me
Finally you got the falling down part worked out 👍 ....It just takes practice lol 😂 . I liked when you were doing the Tinker Bell routine and just spinning around in the air 😉 🌹 💕 . Good to see you again, I see you more on Insta than yt now ?
Thanks for sharing, Rachel. I love watching your videos. As a skater myself, would you mind me asking how you set up camera around the rink to film yourself? Do you usually place your phone against the glass? Or you usually use tripod? I’m intrigued!
it's really sad that rinks in hong kong are NOT STANDARDIZED and are PACKED WITH PEOPLE. I always wanted to do wide crossrolls but damn as the middle is cut out for LESSONS, the rest of the track is just like 5m max wide
I have a question because recently I've been really into figure skating and want to do it. So, do your coaches pick the song you perform, or do you get to? And, who choreographs the dance thing.?
i personally pick my songs but some coaches pick their students songs. i have a choreographer but when you’re at a lower level, your main coach usually choreographs it :)
Sorry, this is a stupid question but how do you get yourself to fall? I guess a better way to explain it is I cannot push myself to go fast enough for spins/jumps because I’m scared to fall! Any tips?
Nah i went ice skating as a school trip last tuesday and i kept on falling, my skirt got wet and a girl from the other class fell on the ice so badly her stomach and her butt was on the ice. Like she was TWISTED And they almost called the ambulance, but didnt. Her lungs almost died and she couldve stopped breathing... our lesson was cut short
Lol the comment of crying over you jumps last week hit deep lol. I used to have (still sometimes but not often since I don't jump anymore lol) all the time especially with the beautiful jump called axels lol and double loops. I was saved by masks so maybe my coach didn't see but I'm pretty sure he did when he would say go get water lol.
I've been wanting to start figure skating for a while now. Everyone seems to start at young ages like under 7 and I'm already 14 and I just want to know what it would be like trying to catch up to those who have been doing it for years and if it's worth it yk. If anyone could be brutally honest with me and tell me if it's a good idea or not please reply!!
