The reason that I'm leaning towards the IONIC-5 is because it comes with two years of free charging at Electrify America charging stations. I have not heard that KIA will offer that.

I think the whole design of the EV6 really rocks. Although the Ioniq 5 is exciting to design purists it's actually quite polarising, with its origami folds, retro hatchback throwback style and decorative stripes. My wife wouldn't even test drive the Ioniq for those reasons. Personally I love the EV6 and think it inherits the proportions and window styling of the beautiful Saab 9-X BioHybrid prototypes of 2008. Wishful thinking, perhaps, but I've ordered one! AWD, GT-line, white!
Had a test drive in the ev6 last week all I can say is wow amazing car and a bright future for Kia brand time now to educate people on ev driving and it’s potential

Gentlemen, you didn’t mention the Kia is built much better than the Tesla. Especially in winter the Tesla is really built for California, and in my research the Kia is more reliable. Good job.
@@saravasquez489 the under carriage of the Tesla isn’t well finished, lots of openings, snow salt and mostly sand accumulates underneath. The Kia is better build for all environments and I’m sure will be more reliable.
I'm all about sh!t-talking Tesla and especially Elon Musk, but wtf are you talking about? What research? EV6 is not for sale yet, or has barely just started. What research did you do to conclude it's more reliable than Tesla's? If we're going by battery fire history, it doesn't look so good for Hyundai/Kia. As for winter range, if Ioniq 5's numbers are a sign, Tesla is the better choice.
Really enjoy your videos Charlie, thanks for all the info you get us! As for the cars, I am more in Daniel's camp with the Ioniq 5 but something I'm curious about is if in korea the ioniq 5 comes with the movable center console at all trim levels or not? In America they plan to make it a limited trim only feature, which makes me think, that if I could only get the base version of these two cars, I'd get the Kia since if Im going to have to deal with having a console I'd rather it be stylized than plain.
Cool! Interesting fact that you can charge your car from another one, at least a similar one. I think this it should be the next step for all the manufacturers, maybe even a standardize interface in order to facilitate this thing.
All good guys, keep up the good work. Comprehensive and useful assessment, KIA EV 6 is impressive, like Daniel, I still prefer the Ioniq 5, I would take either one in a heart beat!
Another great review and drive test. How does this compare driving characteristics with Ioniq 5? I am in the UK. I ordered EV6 GT-Line RWD. I consider practicality than 0-100 km time. I am wondering if I should be looking Ioniq 5 as well. I can see you drove 531 km. What was the avg speed?
IONIQ 5 seems more spacious and design for the family, while Kia EV6 looks and feels more sporty. Average speed about 100km/h on highway (62mph). Thanks
This looks like a road trip range test but from the earliest results I see at 3.04, it's 234 km in 4 hours 46 minues, which makes an average speed of 49 km/h (30 mph). This makes it a city drive range test.
The 1st part, we were stuck in the traffic in the city. But on highways, we were driving about 100km to 110km/h depending on the highway, according to the legal speed. Thanks for enjoying the Kia EV6 review.
No, we have driven the Hyundai IONIQ 5 down to 3%, but not until 0%. Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 Range Test! ruclips.net/video/yKuy2EvsDXM/видео.html
So that was 13.89kWh/100km. Impressive, knowing that there were three adults in the car and probably some equipment. AC was running too. So, with only one person, this could do better? The only questions I have: - Average speed - Peak speed driven for more than 5 minutes (because that one acceleration you did doesn't really count) Thanks for a great video. PS: My choice would probably be Hyundai Ioniq 5 (well it has that "iconic" exterior, right?). Waiting for N version though.
Yes, i think it would be better with only one person in the car. Average speed: 100km/h~110km/h (62mph~) on the highway / Peak would be like 115km/h or so. Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 review!
Totally agree with Daniel about the missing baby shades in the rear for EV6. this combined the sliding rear seats and bigger boot that Ioniq 5 has makes it much more practical and roomy. So I will take Ioniq 5 for my wife and 2 small kids! even though i would have liked to choose the EV6 because of the sleeker design and longer range. What a shame KIA!
Yes, both are great EVs, but if you want more space for your family Hyundai IONIQ 5 is the answer, but if you want more stylish EV with more personalized space, then Kia EV6 is the right answer for you!
Charlie, I Forgot to Mention that I got my New Vehicle for Lower Monthly Payments; 5yrs.! I Love This Chip Shortage!! NOW, I have Everything I Always Wanted!!!
Both Kia EV6 and the Ioniq look like they were teleported from a cyberpunk univers. In my eyes the EV6 is the most unique and beautiful EV car but the Ioniq is also up there.
I just recently got to be in an Ioniq 5 (top version with all extras) and have a test drive in it and I couldn't believe just how luxurious (and fast) it was. The comfort of sitting in that car isn't something you can capture on camera but it was one of the best cars I ever sat in.
Simon F. I am with you Barry. The ioniq 5 is the way to go if you want space. The EV6 is a shade faster to 100kph - the Asian Petrol Head pulled a 4.7 from an i5 he was testing the othe day. So the difference is pretty minimal I'm not an EV fan but I thought I would give it go. Pick up i5 Limited with solar panel roof next week. Atlas White. Cooler in the hot NZ sun.
I currently have a 2017 Chevy Volt, but I'm going to give it to my daughter and get myself either the EV6, or the Ionic 5. I'm having such a hard time deciding which to get.
Let’s just hope we are able to get one when they launch. I’m definitely going electric next having just sold my heavily modded wrangler. Would be great if we could actually get new vehicles on the lots soon. Until then I’ll be running around in the kids Kia Soul for a while.
Nice video and nice car! Can you give us more details about the road trip: how many km on highway and how many on normal roads and the travel speed for each one? Thanks!
I like the Kia EV6 more than the Ioniq5 - the design looks fresher and for me more interesting and dynamic. Hope that you can show us soon a test between the EV6 and the GV60 🙏🤞😎👍💯 - that would be magic! Thanks for your great reviews!
Not into EVs, far too expensive, but got to say that KIA have nailed it with the EV6. Fabulous looking both inside and out, great range, not an over estimation like other manufacturers. Plus there is the 7 year warranty! What's not to like.
Tesla is at the tip of my short list of EVs to buy. I own a Kia Optima and it's nice but I'm more into the less cluttered look and both the Model Y and the Ioniq 5 do a great job in that area. The EV6 is very nice but it's got a very busy button interior design going on. 50% or more of the buttons in my Optima I don't even use or at least not often. Tesla's center screen eliminates that distraction in my opinion. And while the Model Y cost a little more there are certain perksbat the moment you get such as that charging network even though that will be open to all pretty soon. But the Model Y has that large glass roof that makes the car feel spacious. It has great leg room and seating height ad well as one if the best overall storage options. Kia and Hyundai got it going on with that V to L option and while I say I have no use for it I can see it coming in handy. But for small load items the ModelcY has a rear 12v DC outlet you can connect an inverter to and power some things. For me I personally think that with the Model and its better range you get more bang for the buck but that Ioniq 5 and EV6 they are two very close competitors.
Great range-test down to 0%. Tesla Bjorn did this range test in Korea about 2 years ago and his Kia Niro EV got about 500 km also, on its 64kWh battery, so that EV (which I have) has similar range to this EV6 with its 77.4kWh battery.. impressive of Niro EV... what was your average driving speed ? About 100 km/h? And when will you re-do the Ioniq 5 range-test down to 0% and hopefully using the same route and weather conditions for EV6?
We were driving between 100km/h and 110km/h on highway. Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 range test down to 0%! Yes, we will try to book a press car!
Great video guys - impressive stuff. The car ye tested was the RWD GT line model I believe? Is the color the steel grey or the Moonscape grey? any idea? Looks more steel grey to me but was told was only available in the Earth model. cheers

Great video guys, really appreciate this range test review! Very impressed with 530km range, really looking forward to get it here in New Zealand.
Yes, i was quite surprised myself, too. Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 Range Test down to 0%!
@@AsianPetrolhead hy, what was the average speed? Thanks!
Thanks for uploading 💙
My pleasure. Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 review!
mentioning the average speed of the trip would put the range into contest. cheers
Thank you, we were averaging about 100km/h~110km/h on the highway. Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 Range Test!
Gentlemen, you didn’t mention the Kia is built much better than the Tesla. Especially in winter the Tesla is really built for California, and in my research the Kia is more reliable. Good job.
Yeah, i think everyone knows about that, so i didn't mention. Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 review!
for a number of reasons I would pick an EV6 over a MY
however, teslabjorn would disagree about winter vs tesla! :-P
Can you expand on what you mean is better in the winter?
Yeah, there are lots of Hyundai IONIQ 5 fans. Yes they are very close, but i like Kia EV6 a bit better. Thank you
Great review Charlie, and great car ! Thank you. I'am really impatient to receive my EV6 Earth RWD comet grey in France around november/december...
Yes, hope you get your Kia EV6 soon. I am sure you will love it. Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 range test down to 0%!
Very nice 😁 can't wait to see the Genessis GV60. The gv70 it's my go to for now but I'm considering to go electric so I'll wait a bit.
Yes, hope to give you 1st look on the Genesis GV60. Thank you for enjoying the new Kia EV6 review!
I did saw a white GV60 on the road moving via a korean channel on RUclips here... sporty design looks.
Cool! Interesting fact that you can charge your car from another one, at least a similar one. I think this it should be the next step for all the manufacturers, maybe even a standardize interface in order to facilitate this thing.
Yes, it's really interesting, V2V is not fast, but you can actually use it on emergency situations. Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 Range Test!
Its amazing car thank you Charlie for the video and i really respect your opinion bc i love the ev6 too
Thank you huh. Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 Range Test!
Great job....and that's with 2 more occupants than normal for the USA!
Yeah, the Kia EV6 returned quite nice efficiency. Thanks Paul.
How many of these will Hyundai/Kia be able to build? They'll sell all they can make. This EGMP platform is a winner.
I not sure, as much as they can. Love the new E-GMP platform. Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 Range Test!
Yes ! Kia EV6 GT-Line is my favorite , I ordered one in black !
Nice, must be sweet in black. Thanks for enjoying the Kia ev6 review.
Two thumbs up, guys!!!!
Thank you Tony for enjoying the Kia EV6 Range Test!
Very impressed, it gives you confidence in the EV6 that you get accurate range witch is a huge plus, 😊😊🇮🇪
Yes, i am quite surprised about the range, too. Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 range test!
All good guys, keep up the good work. Comprehensive and useful assessment, KIA EV 6 is impressive, like Daniel, I still prefer the Ioniq 5, I would take either one in a heart beat!
Thank you bernard for enjoying the Kia EV6 Range Test!
Charlie 328 miles is the quoted range for the car in the UK. I am a wee bit surprised you did not get more miles from 100% to 0%.
Yes, i am quite surprised about the range from Kia EV6~! Thanks Gordon.
Hyundai KIA Genesis going to dominate the market
Yeah, this Kia EV6 looks very promising.
Is it a pre production car? When will you test a full production EV 6.
Maybe in about two weeks. Stay tuned, we will show you guys how it handles. Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 Range Test!
Thanks
Finally, you have made EVs viable. Welldone.
Yes, the Kia EV6 showed us better range than expected! Thanks Ehtesham.
@@AsianPetrolhead now I can travel from Islamabad to Lahore, without recharging. That's wonderful.
Ioniq 5 for me love the video ❤️
Yes, Hyundai IONIQ 5 still looking stunning. Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 Range Test!
The Kia EV6 looks absolutely stunning to me.
Yes, Peter especially loving the rear design. Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 review
Going to watch this in work
Thank you noel for enjoying the Kia EV6 review!
Ahh I love this video, have you done this 0% test to ioniq 5 as well?
No, we have driven the Hyundai IONIQ 5 down to 3%, but not until 0%. Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 Range Test! ruclips.net/video/yKuy2EvsDXM/видео.html
So that was 13.89kWh/100km.
Impressive, knowing that there were three adults in the car and probably some equipment. AC was running too.
So, with only one person, this could do better?
The only questions I have:
- Average speed
- Peak speed driven for more than 5 minutes (because that one acceleration you did doesn't really count)
Thanks for a great video.
NicE!
Both Kia EV6 and the Ioniq look like they were teleported from a cyberpunk univers. In my eyes the EV6 is the most unique and beautiful EV car but the Ioniq is also up there.
Yes, S. I agree. Kia EV6 has more sophisticated design over Hyundai IONIQ 5.
Guys very nice test drive, and I think next time you should mention the high quality that kia and hundai has, compering Tesla. Good for you Charles 👍
Yeah, we will. Thank you Morphious for enjoying the Kia EV6 review.
For me, I prefer the Ioniq 5. Hyundai, Kia and Genesis are really shaking up the market.
Yes Barry, Hyundai IONIQ 5 still looks great. Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 review!
@@AsianPetrolhead Great channel and reviews.
Wow, your daughter is such a lucky girl. Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 Range Test down to 0%!
@@AsianPetrolhead I'm leaning toward the Ionic 5.
The more reviews, I see with this car. It's definitely getting considered, but waiting for the GT version first before I head to the dealer🤞🏼😀
Yes, Kia EV6 GT coming next year! Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 range test down to 0%!
Ha, I expected it to have a bigger range that Ioniq 5
Good range 👍
Yes, i think Kia EV6 outruns Hyundai IONIQ 5 in terms of the range.
Kia much nicer looking than the others.
Yes, i agree. Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 review!
Isn’t Daniel the guy who was the Hyundai owner in a video? Great addition! 173K subscribers…wow, you’ve come a long way. How is the cabin noise?
Yes, STeven. Daniel was in our owner's review with his 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe review. Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 Range Test down to 0%!
Let’s just hope we are able to get one when they launch. I’m definitely going electric next having just sold my heavily modded wrangler. Would be great if we could actually get new vehicles on the lots soon. Until then I’ll be running around in the kids Kia Soul for a while.
Yeah, Will. Hope you will get the Kia EV6 soon in your area.
V2V feature is so nice, you don't get any gasoline in your mouth.
LOL. you're so funny. Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 review!
Nice video and nice car! Can you give us more details about the road trip: how many km on highway and how many on normal roads and the travel speed for each one? Thanks!
yeah, mostly on highway driving around 100km/h = 62mph. Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 review!
What do you think it should be the range at a constant speed of 130 km/h on highway?
I like the Kia EV6 more than the Ioniq5 - the design looks fresher and for me more interesting and dynamic.
Hope that you can show us soon a test between the EV6 and the GV60 🙏🤞😎👍💯 - that would be magic! Thanks for your great reviews!
Thank you Roger. Yes, i am liking the Kia EV6 design, too. Thanks.
OMG 😳 I Love It 😻
Yes, this Kia EV6 looks quite promising.
@@AsianPetrolhead Yeah 😎 the best Ev6
Interesting, do you have an average speed for the drive?
Around 100km/h on highway 62mph. Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 range test.
Thank you. Wow that is impressive performance.
Not into EVs, far too expensive, but got to say that KIA have nailed it with the EV6. Fabulous looking both inside and out, great range, not an over estimation like other manufacturers. Plus there is the 7 year warranty! What's not to like.
Yes, the 2022 Kia EV6 looks quite promising.
When my K5 GT lease is up I will be bringing the GT version of this baby home.
Yes, GT will be rolled out next year. Thank you for enjoying the 2022 Kia EV6 range test!
Yes, i think for now, you will be better off with Model Y in terms of charging network. Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 range test!
@@AsianPetrolhead We can see at you guys used 10 hours and 21 min = 50 km/h average driving speed
It will be nice to have information about the speed and the type of road (Highway, road...) during your trip.
We were driving around 100km/h~110km/h on the highway. Thank you for enjoying the 2022 Kia EV6 range test!
Great video guys - impressive stuff. The car ye tested was the RWD GT line model I believe? Is the color the steel grey or the Moonscape grey? any idea? Looks more steel grey to me but was told was only available in the Earth model. cheers
Yes, Eric. We test drove the long range model with RWD. It's Moonscape Matte Grey! Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 Range Test!
Excellent car. Excellent video
Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 Range Test!
Great content and great car
Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 Range Test!
Fantastic range on the car, it makes my model 3 look boring.
Wow, Model 3 owner. Thanks for your reply. Thank you for enjoying the Kia EV6 review!
@@AsianPetrolhead thinking of trading my model 3 in to buy the EV6 when it shows up next month in Ireland 🇮🇪.
Way more range than my old 2010 hyundai santa fe awd. This looks like my next vehicle.
Yes, the Kia EV6 looks great and has great range, too. Thanks Cisco DIY.
