I really wanted to say thank you for being so mature about greek life! Ever since I was young I thought never for me, too exclusive and I dont want to be with just girls, but now I'm really appalled at all the racism, sexism, classicism, homophobia, and sexual assault culture associated with it. It's really mature of you to disband from it even though you had a good time because you realized it's impact on other people so thank you :)

I’m a freshman at UIC, but this was my dream school. Sophmore year of highschool we took a trip to Northwestern and I fell in love with the campus😭💜 Sadly, I made bad choices my junior and senior year so it was pretty hard for me to even get accepted, but I’m going to work very hard so I can transfer here Sophmore year💪

Hey Lucia! Thank you for doing such an awesome video. And congrats on your upcoming graduation. I was wondering how you adjusted from LA culture--I'm from AL. And do you think that for the most part you were academically prepared to do your work or did you have to put in extra work because you may have had the "I didn't get that in high school" kind of feeling.

Thanks a lot for the video, i wasn't going to watch it at first because i thought > "what would she be talking about for 20 mins straight"> but it ended up being really informative, the college video with the most info i've ever seen actually. I totally fell in love with Northwestern just by randomly spotting it on google and i've been all about it since. I'm a Senior and I'll be applying for the class of 2027 ... i live in Camroon,Africa so the process is gona be really bumpy for me. I do hope i get accepted and i'm really counting on that financial aid and since NU is Need-aware, it kiinda scares me, but i stay positive ;->

I'm just finishing my last highschool year (I'm Brazilian) and I'm researching about film schools outside the country. Since I've heard about Northwestern's financial aid, I thought it might be a great idea to try it. The more I hear about the community, the campus, etc... The more I fall in love with the idea of being a student there. I've heard a lot about how hard the applications are for foreigners and people who need financial aid so I'm very nervous about it, buuuut...
I'm gonna be studying next year so I can make the SATs here in Brazil and try to apply. I really hope I get accepted, it would be a dream to study Cinematography somewhere where it is recognized and my colleagues are as passionate about it as I am.

Amazing videooo!! I’ve been thinking about NU a LOT. I’m currently a junior, and homeschooled, do you think being homeschooled affects admission? I know that living in state helps quite a bit as well, I live around 40 mins up north from the university, which is pretty exiting! Are there many in state students attending?
I haven’t heard anything about homeschooling affecting admissions ! I would say in state helps (especially Chicago) but there still isn’t an overwhelming amount of students from IL.
Thank you for the video Lucia! It's really insightful. In regards to dorm life, do Economics students typically live on the north or south of campus? I got accepted into the class of 2025 and wanted to know what housing options will be closest to my classes.
hey !! thanks ! econ students are all over the place i think! i know some that lived north and some that lived south! you'll be in weinberg so your classes will definitely differ (some econ classes are in tech- which is north, others might be south and definitely your social science distros are likely to be south) truly though campus is not that big (although it feels big in the winter), so i would pick your dorm based on the social experience/ amenities

We graduated from cal poly Pomona which does not have football team,marching band, or sorority houses.
As a perspective applicant for co2026 I'd love to hear more about your minor in business and marketing certificate. What sorts of classes did you take for the minor + certificate? Did you enjoy the programs?
i loved the marketing classes but not gonna lie the business ones were kinda hard but i'm still glad i did it! marketing is a lot of fun creative projects and business is more numbers based
This was incredibly helpful. I’m a prospective ‘26 trying to decide between two schools for ED. If I’m interested in studying broadcast journalism would that be a part of the general journalism major or is there a student org that I could join separately (I’m also interested in public policy)?
hi ! if you study journalism it's all one degree in medill ! but you can join specific broadcast journalism clubs like NNN (northwestern news network)

Hi I’m curious about the safety in Evanston? I heard it safe but I’m worried with Chicago’s reputation for how dangerous the city is. I was recently admitted to the law school and I’m debating between going to northwestern and some other east coast schools.

Omg thank you so much for this video! I had a question about transferring schools, how easy/difficult is it if you wanted to transfer schools? Such as if you want to transfer from Weinburg to special schools?
Or if you were in Weinburg, could you major in something offered at the special schools? Or would you also have to apply to those special schools? How does that process work?

Basically I thought this was a really good overview.
I do have one correction, Evanston borders Chicago. I think you maybe getting mixed up downtown Chicago. There are a good many amount of grad students who live in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago, which is just over the Evanston border

Hiii I just got into northwestern. Im really stressed about dorming. I was wondering how the dorm selection worked? Lincoln seems like the best fit for me. Do students get to choose the dorms they want?
You get to rank the dorms!! Don’t be too stressed about it- wherever you end up it will work out!! Sometimes people get their first choice and sometime you don’t. Congrats !!

Do you know if it matters of a senior chooses to graduate early even if they have already gotten into Northwestern? I’ve already committed, but with nu price I have to work. I was thinking of graduating early but idk if that revokes me admission.
Congrats on committing! :) It shouldn’t have any effect but I don’t want to give you the wrong answer! I would call the admissions office and ask!

If I apply into Weinburg, can I take classes in school of communications or Medill? and in future double major too? Also, how is the study abroad program at northwestern?
Hi!! Good luck !! And yes you can take some classes in other schools but they might be harder to get into, and some classes are designated for majors only. Most schools offer “non major” classes in journalism or theatre for example. The study abroad program varies! There are a lot of different options for going in the summer, fall quarter, or winter and spring quarter. It is popular to go to Europe but there are also options all around the world! Normally people go junior year.

I know I'm really late but I have some questions. DO you think if you go to a public high-school you would be able to get into Northwestern. I'm a really hardworking student with good stats + lots of extracurriculars so idk how much me going to a public non prestigious high school would matter.
I don’t think where you go matters! A bunch of people at NU went to public high schools so it’s definitely do able !

It’s a good and spacious dorm ! North campus and seems to mainly house sophomores. It’s suite style which means no community bathrooms !

There are so many options! Rtvf, theatre, communications, journalism, anything! There is a business minor that could be helpful too

I worked behind the scenes at NWU and at other places in downtown Evanston. NW is NO picnic, believe me. And what's with-like-this speech pattern? - that most NWU? -- students seem to have? I mean, it's like? -- this is the third video in a row? -- from an NWU student? --- that uses this awful California? Val-style intonation? --- at the end of every phrase?
This video helped soooo much. Thank you. I actually committed to NU a while ago so this kinda just helped me know what to expect. I had one question though that I couldn't find an answer to anywhere. How hard would you say it is to declare a major in a school that you weren't accepted into. Ex) accepted to weinberg, want to major theater
hey ! it's actually really hard to switch to the theatre major because it's capped at 100 people so someone has to transfer out for you to transfer in and there is normally a wait list! so if it's something you are really interested in I would contact the university now!
