    Your videos are so spot-on! They are really outstanding. You do a fantastic job of providing an objective presentation of the pros and cons. One interesting note about Northwestern: apparently, the winters have been much milder for the past few years. My son is a freshman and said the winter wasn't a big deal at all (and we're from California)! We'll see if the trends continues.

      Global warming? New England winters have been very mild too.

    You say we should submit our SAT score, but do you think I should submit a 1400 score when NU's median is 1530? My gpa is ~3.85 and my ECs are really solid (I'm an international student from Argentina). Great video!

      @IvyAdmissionHelp  Месяц назад +2

      If your score is significantly below the freshman average for a particular college then don't submit it (assuming they give you the option). The only exception would be if your "low" score is significantly better than all of the other students from your region. Then it can actually help you because you look like a stand-out student from your disadvantaged background.

    Great video! One small correction: “Chicago” isn’t 30-40 minutes away. It’s literally a few minutes away because Evanston borders Chicago, specifically the Rogers Park neighborhood. Going all the way to *downtown* Chicago is 30-40 minutes away via el or bus, but the Chicago border is just a few miles from the NW campus.

    • @IvyAdmissionHelp
      @IvyAdmissionHelp  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, I meant that downtown Chicago was about a half an hour away, particularly with traffic. Thanks.

    I was admitted to both Northwestern and Penn, which would you recommend for a pre med student?

    • @IvyAdmissionHelp
      @IvyAdmissionHelp  9 месяцев назад

      Congratulations! Northwestern and UPenn are equally well regarded for pre-med programs. So it's really a matter of which college you prefer in general. UPenn really excels in pre-professional clubs and opportunities, but the culture is extremely competitive and intense. Northwestern is a little more "chill," and has perhaps better work-life balance. But you can't go wrong with either one.

    • @veronicavaquer6812
      @veronicavaquer6812 2 месяца назад

      @@IvyAdmissionHelp Northwestern is not chill at all. A classmate of mine transferred from Northwestern to Penn and he said he found Penn boring and less challenging because of the semester vs the quarter system.

    Hi, I enjoyed the video very much and I got into northwestern and ucla both for mechanical engineering which would you recommend going to? Note: I live in California and would be dorming at both!

    • @IvyAdmissionHelp

      Congratulations! They are both excellent. But if UCLA is going to save you a lot of money as an in-state student, I would definitely go with UCLA. I used to live 5 minutes from UCLA's campus and I can tell you it's a really fun, beautiful place to go to college, and the weather is unbeatable all year-round.

      Not sure if you are serious or not but the reason it is called Northwestern is at the time it was created, that area was in the northwestern part of the country.

    • @IvyAdmissionHelp
      @IvyAdmissionHelp  9 месяцев назад +1

      Congratulations! Out of those three schools, Cornell has the highest-rated engineering program. Of course, you can study engineering at any of them and get an excellent education.

      @woo76 9 месяцев назад

    • @IvyAdmissionHelp
      @IvyAdmissionHelp  9 месяцев назад +2

      Only about 25% of engineering majors actually end up working as engineers. The rest migrate into a wide variety of other professions. If you definitely want to become an engineer, I would stick with the highest-rated programs. But if you think you might use that engineering degree to segue into another related career, there are benefits to attending a "more prestigious" school. Ultimately, however, it's where you'll feel most at home.
