Great episode John! I agree, 1984 was unbelievable, but no Goonies love 😏. 89 has to be one of the best for sequels!

If Sony takes over Disney’s physical media, then that means no more future physical media releases for Disney+ shows such as MCU and Star Wars shows.

Not necessarily I would think they would want to make more of that if you have a distributor doing all the work and all Disney would have to do is send over the film or television elements. Disney and Sony probably split the cost on the restoration. I’m just not entirely sure what all the details of the deal are yet.

I've noticed the Disney/Sony news being spun in a very positive light and a very negative light. It's probably too early to tell. One of the negative takes is that it's still Disney deciding what gets a physical release and this news doesn't mean anything for catalog Disney & Fox titles. The focus will just be on new projects .It is interesting that this deal starts AFTER Disney puts out the James Cameron films on 4K & Blu Ray. themselves. lol

Hey Lionel i’m sorry for the late response buddy. I was hoping to get more information on this and you’re right it’s still to early. Maybe Disney realized that they have to actually put effort in to their Physical releases and not just dump them out there and the charge Disney prices lol. I’m hoping it’s catalog titles and new releases. I think Sony handles this stuff better then Disney but they’re both corporations so you really don’t know how this will go.

Hopefully we finally get a high quality release of Predator on 1080p bluray. They already have the 4k master used for the 4k bluray. Unfortunately they never even bundled the 4k bluray with a remastered 1080p version.
Us 1080p collectors deserve this. We don't want to be stuck with the underwhelming albeit filmic 2008 bluray release.

I couldn’t agree more! The 4K should always pack in the blu ray if it’s a new scan for the blu ray collectors. That old blu ray is horrible. I have some hope that with Prey coming out last year on 4k that they release an ultimate set on blu ray and 4K blu ray or at least a new set that includes both blu ray and 4K for all the predator films.

I’m hoping it’s coming to a different studio for you guys. I’m going to guess Arrow since they did that with Invasion of the body snatchers. Sorry for the late response buddy. I couldn’t get on youtube or studio on the boat.

I have zero faith in anything Disney decides to do. If there’s a way to screw it up, they’ll find a way to do it. If Sony is allowed to dig into Disney and Fox’s catalog titles, I’ll eat my hat! 😂

I’m with you on that loll. I’m trying to stay hopeful and optimistic but like you said it’s Disney and if they can fumble the ball and screw it up, They will!!

Pretty surprised to hear you don't like Dunkirk and found it boring. I think I remember reading somewhere Tarantino had it as the 2nd best film of the 2010s, behind only The Social Network. I find that ranking a bit high but remember really enjoying it. But I also have only seen it once and have the 4k, which i bought for a rewatch. Love your videos John, keep up the good work!

Thank you so much I really appreciate you saying that buddy! It kills me that I didn’t love Dunkirk, I still appreciate the craftsmanship of the film but I didn’t enjoy it because I had a hard time connecting to the characters. Who knows though maybe on the rewatch i’ll appreciate it more!

I hope Sony doing Disney's releases helps consumers by offering catalog titles for Disney and Fox. I'm worried about Disney movie club shutting down. They have their exclusives on there. I thought about buying a few like The Three Musketeers and Freaky Friday in case they go out of print and become expensive on Ebay. I liked the way The Crow steelbook looked and pre-ordered it. I'd say my favorite movie with a car crash is Nightcrawler with Jake Gylenal

That’s what i’m worried about too, there could be a real negative to the Disney Movie Club shutting down but i’m trying to think positively. I’m hoping this actually gets more eyes on physical media and corrects a lot of the wrongs Disney has done. That Crow steelbook is beautiful and i’ll bet it even looks better in person lol. Nightcrawler is a great call!

Unless we're getting Fox catalog titles pre-2000, Touchstone ect... I can't get too excited about the Disney/Sony deal. Article only mentions distribution... not licensing. Disney is still gonna make the call on what is released ... and most likely won't include those precious Fox catalog titles we all want on 4K ... DIE HARD 2... THE FLY ... THE OMEN ... BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA ... LICENSE TO DRIVE ... LUCAS. ED WOOD (Touchstone) ... just to name a few.

I was hoping we got more information by now about how this is all going to work. I assume because it’s Sony it has to be more than Distribution of their new releases. I’m hoping that it’s Catalog titles from Both 20th Century fox and Disney themselves. There’s so many opportunities for them to make so incredible 4Ks.

Old Yeller (1957), tears likely and may need tissues. Boring walked out on: Police Academy III, and The Gods Must Be Crazy where someone drops a Coke bottle out of a plane and a bushman starts to kick it around and worship it, that's the movie... 😴

I don’t even remember the third Police Academy films. I only did them in order one time then just watched them on TV lol. I do go back to the original though a lot.
