Thank you so so much for covering this issue!!! I have bad social anxiety and suicidal thoughts. I am naturally a very very thankful and happy person that can enjoy things and life and relationships but I have struggled with depression as a direct result to social anxiety. Yesterday something extremely embarrassing happened again and I lost my dignity all over again. And it repeats. It keeps repeating. I wanted to throw myself off the sixth floor but I can‘t do this to my family. So I am just suffering every day and some days worse. Thank you again. You seem so sincere and kind!!! And thank you for really wanting to help people. The answers you gave to the other guy in the comments were so nice and helpful! Greetings from a German girl
Hi, @leeaschmidt2490. I'm very sorry to hear about the social anxiety and depression you're experiencing. This can be a very heavy combination of emotional struggles. I love that you share about the complexity of being a naturally happy person who experiences joy AND having times where you struggle mightily. As you mentioned in another comment here, it can be so helpful to know that you're not alone, and I know your story is one that other readers will be able to relate to. I'm truly wishing you all the best, and thank you so much for your feedback.
Hi there. Thanks for the questions. In clinical trials, cognitive behavioral therapy has been shown to be effective for ~75% of people who struggle with social anxiety. I'm not sure if that's what you mean by 'traditional psychology' but thankfully, there is effective treatment for social anxiety.
@@DrTynessaFranks I have a real issue with facial blushing due to shyness or social anxiety I am not sure, butbhow do I get help for this and is this something that can be cured.?
@@eastside0434 This is a great question. Fear of showing bodily signs of anxiety such as sweating, trembling and blushing is common for people who experience high levels of social anxiety. Blushing can be a symptom of social anxiety AND the fear of blushing can be so intense that a person avoids certain social situations due to the fear of blushing. If you care to dig deeper and read an article about a research study on blushing and social anxiety, here is a good one. www.researchgate.net/publication/273128915_Blushing_and_Social_Anxiety_A_Meta-Analysis As for getting help, the main recommendation is that you pursue help for the social anxiety itself. For many people, getting help with social anxiety (using cognitive behavioral treatment, for example) can help you work on the cognitive and behavioral patterns that contribute to the experience of blushing. I hope this is helpful. Let me know if you have other questions.
Any experience with overcoming or decreasing loneliness? Do share - I'd love to hear it and share tips with those who are struggling.
