If you’re using it for professional work, what does the sub-250 category get you? I get that for recreational flying you wouldn’t have to comply with RID under 250g, but flying under 107 you have to broadcast regardless, right?
to be honest its somehting i will just give the middle finger to the FAA over, but when a cop pulls up and i show him the drone is a "toy" he will likely bugger off
Yeah, I was also going to drop in to say you still need the tag for professional work, but if you lie about the contract, they might believe you. Unless they ask to see the permit for flying in the mall, which might stipulate the professional nature of said footage mission... The whole RID is dumb af. Pretty awesome. I just picked up my first FPV drone, the cinebot30, and am learning to fly it after adjusting some rates, throttle limiters and such. Still, having a smaller drone with o3 unit would be awesome. How resilient to crashes is this one you've built?
So all your footage was shot with the 03 no naked gopro or anything? That footage looked so much better than others I've seen. Do you use the 03 footage for commercial work?
Does this particular drone actually fly well? Does it come with a controller? I’ve bought a cheap drone for 150 the problem with it was that it couldn’t fly correctly could’ve been that the controller commands wasn’t syncing well with the drone. So does it fly well?
@@MagicMatic I have countless failed designs that never see the light of day. If I put a drone out there, it is because it is better than anything else in it's class. Otherwise why bother? So yes it's awesome
Amazing quad man! If you get a chance can you design a sub250 DJI03 air unit acro quad with prop guards. Maybe a 6s one if possible. Something similar to the oddityrc XI25Pro HD 03 version but without inverted pusher motors. The oddity rc one is not sub250. If you could design a sub250 acro quad with about a 4 minute flight time it would be great. I’m not sure if all that is possible. A canopy with lots of holes in it might help reduce weight. Something similar to the happy model mobula 8 Dji 03 version canopy might be an option. Also smaller vtx antennas might be helpful. I’d also like it to be able to use ELRS. I haven’t found anything on the market that exists like this. There are no sub250 dji03 acro quads with prop protectors on the market. All of them are cinematic quads. 6s motors with 2.5 inch props might be the sweet spot I’m not sure. That’s my dream quad. I just think it would be a fun park flyer that wouldn’t bother anyone. A 4s motor prop combo might be the best option. I’m not sure what motor prop combo would give the best power to weight ratio but I think motor and prop selection is a key factor due to weight. Probably would need to be around 150 grams without a battery. Most decent size batteries will probably be around 100 grams to give a decent flight time. Looking at a modified version of the happy model mobula 8 Dji 03 version might be a good starting point. It is 99 grams without a battery. It’s too heavy and has a bad power to weight ratio. But if something similar could be designed that weighs 150 grams without a battery, the power to weight ratio could be greatly improved. Let me know if you think it is feasible.
@@33rdframe Something I just thought about (and it may be a stupid idea) but has anyone designed a prop that already has a guard attached which spins with the prop? Would that be possible or would it just mess up all of the aerodynamics of everything? I was kind of thinking of a spinning circle maybe 10mm thick molded in with the design of the prop itself. Like a wheel rim and the prop is the spoke of the wheel. I haven’t seen anyone try it. From a protection stand point I think it would do the same thing as a prop guard. It would protect you from getting hit by the outside edge of the prop. From an aerodynamic standpoint I don’t know what it would do. I guess from a friction standpoint the prop could hurt someone though. Even a wheel spinning fast enough could cut or burn someone. If the outside rim was a cylinder it might help with that so there would be no sharp edges.
@@33rdframe What are the operations over people categories? The ability to fly over people varies depending on the level of risk that a small UAS operation presents to people on the ground. Operations over people are permitted subject to the following requirements: Category 1 small unmanned aircraft are permitted to operate over people, provided the small unmanned aircraft: Weigh 0.55 pounds or less, including everything that is on board or otherwise attached to the aircraft at the time of takeoff and throughout the duration of each operation. Contain no exposed rotating parts that would cause lacerations. In addition, for Category 1 operations, no remote pilot in command may operate a small unmanned aircraft in sustained flight over open-air assemblies unless the operation is compliant with Remote ID. Category 2 and up there isn’t a drone compliant with those rules. I know a few people that would be very interested in a ready to fly option to meet all these rules. Some run the lighter Japanese market batteries in DJI drones they are 50 grams lighter allowing you to fit some type of prop guard.

Sub 250 for "cinematic use" is NOT exempt, indoor or outdoor, its still Part 107 under the FAA use with "intent". There is no FU that can "legally" given to the FAA.
The FAA never intended for quality drones to be made at 250g range. It's intentionally gatekeeping. They figured just analogue toy drones would make the cut. They want everyone to just slap a RID module on and comply to their tyranny... But this drone will let people fly with a O3 and get pro footage without RID
