It really helps that Alvain got rid of most of the dead weight contracts and moved most of those CONTRACT players along to other teams. Either they'll do better with a fresh start and no CONTRACT hanging over their heads, or they won't. Meanwhile, he's gotten us good players who are hungry to be here and prove themselves winners. Only Tyler Myres of the Dead Weight Contract Guys remains. Connor Garland was a bit of that, but still good enough with enough upside to be worth giving him another shot, especially with the most egregious of the bad contracts dealt with.

Many will probably say 'Ah, this Canucks team is a wagon'. But they don't know what they're talking about. This team always has capability. They just needed a good capable captain, and they just needed to shore up their defensive nature. But most of all, they needed to show how much they want this. And boy, did they show up and want it tonight.
That was as dominant a performance as I've seen from them in a while. Everything went right for them, and they were always first to react and gave St. Louis nothing at all to work with. They made a statement tonight. And now they can truly build upon it. They played exactly like a playoff team tonight. And now they have a chance to add further against Rangers tomorrow.
Tocchet deserves a ton of credit for what he's building with this team. GO CANUCKS GO!

Tyler Myres not only breaks is 3 game costing us 2 points against streak, but actually made a couple of solid defensive plays for once, even capping one of them off with a good breakaway pass to DiGiseppi for an assist?

I've never been one of them. Liked JT from the moment he laced up his skates for the Canucks and showed himself to be a dominating power forward who can play skilled hockey with a physical edge. Kind of like a certain other power forward the Canucks once had on the West Coast Express a couple of decades ago, or a certain Captain the 2nd time the team went to the finals.
