Canucks scored 10 goals in this game matching the total of 10 goals the Sharks scored so far this year. Talk about two teams moving in different directions.
@September2004 what I find encouraging is that historically, a previous Canucks roster on a winning streak, would come up against a clearly inferior squad and play down to their level, and more often than not, lose to the poorer team. That was not the case on Thursday night in Central California. Not only did they depart victorious, but they played almost the entirety of the game as if the outcome was in question despite the lobsided score. That, is a commitment to the process, and that, is a damn good thing to see from a franchise that has been more or less indifferent to the collective dynamic for over a decade now. Mr Tocchet, I publicly apologize for underestimating your intelligence. Saturday night against a legit Stanley Cup contender in Dallas, will be a perfectly timed challenge for this team that aims to continually get better. Fingers crossed that the Zebras don't get in the way too much.

During this home stand, the most shocking thing has been that I've even started seeing signs of life from Tyler Myres! He's been a zombie going through the motions for the past couple of years, and the first couple of weeks of this season, but since coming home, he's been starting to come to life and play like he's an NHL defensemen at least. Still not good, but at least not unforgivably bad now. The rest of the guys are on fire. Love seeing it!

There is more optimism in knowing you not a playoff team because you can get a top 5 pick in all 7 rounds easier. It is the teams that think they have a shot at the cup when they do not who can hurt their own team in the whole draft by winning meaningless games. Good luck to Van winning the cup though this season.

I realize this gets lost in the highlights but that reception at the line by Petterson on the Canucks fifth goal was silky. He catches the puck on his stick as he's going over the line. He's offside if he doesn't. It's at about 3:35

I honestly don't think there is a single team in the NHL the Sharks could convincingly beat this season. This team has nothing. This team is nothing. Mackenzie Blackwood doesn't deserve this. Kaapo Kahkonen doesn't deserve this. The actually somewhat talented veterans on the Sharks don't deserve this. This isn't just 2019-20 Detroit Red Wings bad, this is a past NHL which most of us thought we wouldn't see again levels of bad. This is the 92-93 Ottawa Senators essentially hoping the opposing team has an off-night. That's all the Sharks can hope for this year. Mike Grier got literally nothing for Karlsson, all the players he got will be gone after this year, Mikael Granlund didn't have a shot on goal tonight etc. etc. so on and so forth how is this team this bad. I genuinely think there's some AHL teams that could beat this Sharks team. Vlasic is basically an AHL third pairing defenseman making $7 million. How has this happened in the modern era. This is real? Somehow yes.
As a Canucks fan, I can relate to your pain, with the Myres, Eckman-Larson pairing of last season, and all those BIG CONTRACT, small talent players the team had. Patrick Alvain worked miracles in the off season to eliminate all but the problematic Garland and Myres contracts, and at least with Garland, I kind of like his play, just not his contract, though he's young enough he can improve and grow into his contract at least. I truly hope your Sharks can find their Patrick Alvain to turn things around. Though not at fan levels, I've always liked the Sharks as an organization. Never had any dirty play from them nor anything to give me any reason to hate them, even when they were the enemy in a playoff series - even then, though I'd want them to lose, I've always respected the team. This is sad to see though.
@conorcahill5422 It's sad because Duclair has been mentioned as one of the only somewhat decent trade pieces the Sharks have left if any, but if he keeps playing the way he's playing (same applies for every other expiring veteran) he'll have no value. If he goes 20 games with 2 goals and 2 assists and can't play defense no team is going to want that.
Kuzmenko is a saint. A very true sort of professional? His concern after colliding with Kahkonen just speaks of what a beautiful kind of human being he is. Amazing. ♥️♥️♥️
That second goal where Boeser bounces the puck off the boards to Miller looks just like a play Henrik made to Daniel many seasons ago and still on Canuck highlight videos.
10 minutes of highlights and it's almost entirely filled with Canucks goals. So glad I caught this game. I hope for the Sharks sake that they have a better game next game.

Yeah, amazing what happens when a GM is given free reign to do his job by the owners and is good at trimming the dead weight contracts and bringing in some guys eager to show what they can do. Only dead weight contract left is Myres, and if he can keep playing like he has the last few games, maybe he'll be a bit less dead weight. If he can get back to how he was when the Canucks first decided to pick him up, maybe he'll even become a slight net positive or at least net neutral. The core was never the problem, on offense, it was the core on defense and the depth players being paid like top liners.
Nothing but respect from the nuck players, didn't celebrate his goal bcoz he hit the goalie, no one threw up the arms after the 4th goal in the celebration.
It's gonna be a very long year for the Sharks and their fans. Feels like yesterday when they were going for a championship. Now they're 0-9-1 in their first ten games.
Nobody in the media is talking about Filip Hronek. I'm hearing a lot of whining from the Vancouver media that they didn't get a JT Miller(benched for 4 mins) interview right after the Predators game... yawn... Hronek, has anyone in the media heard about this guy? Filip Hronek's trade did not come cheap! When I saw that exchange there was concern, it was a lot to give up. The primary hope was that he was going to be a Quinn Hughes partner playing the right hand position. They are both top tier puck movers and it begged the question of what happens if you put two of those guys together on the same line. Luckily, Rick Tocchet and management had the wisdom and knowledge to load up on the Canucks defensive pairing on the same line. It's difficult to argue the domination that this duo is having even with skeptics. This defensive duo is a force to be reckoned with! +/- (Hughes+13), (Hronek+9)
The only thing that can stop the Canucks is a poor defensive output and taking penalties on their part. This team is very strong offensively and at goaltending.
These are the trap games the Canucks were notorious in losing in the ugliest fashion in the past, so stat-padding aside, I am glad that they came out pressing and were ready to take over the game from start to finish.
I'm actually surprised Canucks won. Usually they choke on bad teams. I guess this team is different this year and Tocchet really got them going. Let's see how they do against a good team now.
I really hope San Jose residents just stop buying Sharks tickets altogether. Show management that futility like this will not be tolerated. This 'team' is AWFUL. I really think the US women's team could beat the Sharks right now
Off to a solid start boys. Go Canucks! maybe this is the run. I like how they are playing right now, calm, collected, working like dogs every game. Keep it up.
You shouldn't be it is better for teams to be a legit cup contender or bottom 5. It is the teams in the middle that are not good enough to win a cup or bad enough to get a top 5 pick who are generally in a worse position.
Jesus the Canucks are moving the puck so nicely. I love this style of play so much more compared to the grindy dump and chase style of our 2010/11 roster.
My daughter (Sharks) and wife (Canucks) were watching together. After the 6th goal my wife turned it off to spare my daughter further torture. She later told me "They ran over the goalie and nobody defended him, this was the worst performance i've ever seen." After watching i cannot disagree and i remember the mid 90's Senators and Atlanta Thrashers. 🤔

lol..hilarious how you interpret "someone pinch me" as gloating...get a life@@riffgroove
Tight game boys way to clinch our asses to the W. Let’s go beat Dallas on Saturday.
Dallas is a beast, although they might be a favorable matchup stylistically for Vancouver. Canucks have won the last six meetings against the Stars
This just blows my mind, no sharks wins yet, wow!
Going to hate to be the first team they beat this year.
This Sharks team is making the 92/93 Sharks team look decent.
На трибунах сидел маленький паренëк с плакатом "Вперëд, Акулы, это моя первая игра". Вот где реальная печаль.
1:05 That look says it all doesn't it?
Damn that was such a tight game! Both teams grinded real hard for the win
After watching the highlights. It could have been 16-1…
Astonished at the quantity of one-sided goals...
i think its safe to say the canucks were being slept on
3:33 gorgeous sequence!
respects to the sharks fans who stayed till the end of this long journey
i'm not used to the canucks being this good....
The one SJ goal was interference too, but no one in the building but Demko cared :D
Great pass by Boeser.
After he thrashing of Edmonton, 8:0, another outburst. Canucks have four effective forward lines and solid defense and goaltending.
At this point I’m pretty sure I could rally the boys to a win before David Quinn 🎉
Another Golden Seals memory
OMG, Go Canucks Go
San Jose was only 1 shot away from making that game interesting
10min highlight package like a goal, a minute
All I noticed in this video was a lot of empty seats. Some nhl teams in trouble
First period, the stands already empty. Youch.
Let’s see if Quinn can catch up with his brother’s points 😂
Which brother?
Jack … right now very close
벤쿠버 커낙스 초반 기세가 짱이네~!
Man, that game was such overkill that even the Canucks players didn't want to celebrate their goals anymore
I'm actually surprised Canucks won. Usually they choke on bad teams. I guess this team is different this year and Tocchet really got them going. Let's see how they do against a good team now.
Disclaimer: No Sharks 🦈 were harmed in this game. Except maybe for Kunin (fisticuffs with Di Giuseppe) 🥊🤛🤣
I really hope San Jose residents just stop buying Sharks tickets altogether. Show management that futility like this will not be tolerated. This 'team' is AWFUL. I really think the US women's team could beat the Sharks right now
San Jose's shots on goal are considered highlights
Off to a solid start boys. Go Canucks! maybe this is the run. I like how they are playing right now, calm, collected, working like dogs every game. Keep it up.
The Canucks scoring as many goals in this one game than the sharks have all season really just hurts to see.
this was certainly one of the hockey games.
Nice assist from Shorthouse on the Zetterlund goal
Where's the crowd?
Damn the Sharks are terrible. The Canucks though... Looking like 70s Soviet Union the way they're zipping the puck around. Ruthless.
This was a good close competitive game
kudos and full respect to the arena employee who activated goal horn and song after a 0-10
The Sharks are really bad this season to point of embarrassing.I really feel sorry foe their fans as they used to be a really good team.
You shouldn't be it is better for teams to be a legit cup contender or bottom 5. It is the teams in the middle that are not good enough to win a cup or bad enough to get a top 5 pick who are generally in a worse position.
I guess the Sharks took inspiration from the Oakland Athletics.
Except the shark's are actually spending money. This is a $79 million team the sharks just iced
Jesus the Canucks are moving the puck so nicely. I love this style of play so much more compared to the grindy dump and chase style of our 2010/11 roster.
LoL, every shutout Demko gets is such a struggle. So close this game... :)
Nucks arent even celebrating after the 2nd goal after realizing they playing agains the minor hockey team 😅😂😂😂
Top 4 pick > meaningless wins
