    Easily the Sharks 2nd strongest game of the season. Also, that Granlund goal? Filthy. If he can do stuff like that regularly, then the Sharks might actually be more fun to watch. They really looked like they wanted to win today. So good on them.

    Honestly, as angry as I am at what I just witnessed, I can actually be calmed by the fact San Jose won a game. I've no qualms against them, and to me, they wanted that win much more than Canucks did.
    With that being said, this to me, is where the team face into the greatest adversity they have endured in the past number of seasons. Their fast start has worn off, and now they're winning and losing, showing signs of that horrendous inconsistency.
    Tyler Myers. What can you say about him? Oh yeah, HE COSTS THE TEAM AGAIN. His stupid penalty led straight to their 4th goal. And Pettersson. He has fallen way off. There's just no influence, no sense of he will be a game changer. He isn't even scoring either! I have no idea what is wrong with him.
    And make no mistake about it. Carson Soucy's absence has had a far greater impact on the defense than we thought. Whenever he played, they were better, and now we've had to contend with that idiot Myers and a fledgling Ian Cole, followed by a misfiring Quinn Hughes, who can't seem to find that breakthrough at the most crucial of times when we badly need, as indicated by the final 3 minutes.

      Bang on. This game gave me horrible flashbacks of the last two seasons. Tyler Myers... he's an anchor around the neck of the team. Hopeless. He can single handedly stop momentum when his team is surging and magically turn a power play into a penalty kill. Honestly, I think Pettersson is missing Kuzmenko. Pettersson has always liked to have someone skilled to create with. But Tocchet is too busy trying to teach him a lesson. Whatever...

      @karlkarlsson9126 Год назад

      Spot on summary. Hughes is very good though, even though he misses the net. Pettersson is just absent. Petterssons strengths before was that he could hold the puck and find an opening right through in front of the crease, but now he doesn't dare to do anything else other then pass along the boards, matter of fact it feels like Pettersson is pushed towards the boards in every shift. I think his turnovers and mistakes have led him to a more careful play-style, so he becomes more casual. A player like him shouldn't overthink so much and just go with the flow.

    The Sharks play with more heart @ home in general so other teams can't just assume a sure thing roll over.
    There seems to be more sharks fans coming to the games too.
    Hertl seems to have taken Zetterlund under his wing so to speak. That Granlund goal was pretty cool.
    My only issue is it is by far in the best interest of the team to have the worst record and winning meaningless games is still meaningless. A top 3 pick is just better.

    • @rubberduckie5518
      @rubberduckie5518 Год назад

      Still nice to have the team win once in a while so they don’t get too demoralized.
      Looks like the Sharks have some young players to build off of in Zetterlund, Zadina, Kunin and Eklund up front and Addison, Emberson and Ferraro on the blueline.
      Hertl the turtle just keeps producing and keeping a good attitude. Sharks would be wise to keep him instead of trading for picks or prospects…unless someone offers a HAUL.

    • @DanRaidersWarriorsSharksGiants
      @DanRaidersWarriorsSharksGiants Год назад

      @@rubberduckie5518 The overall team has to be good enough to win a cup for any "good" player to even matter. Which is why when bad teams like the sharks or blue jackets give out big contracts it generally hurts the team more instead of trading that cap for cap dump players.
      What I am saying is Hertl makes 8 mill a year and had the sharks traded him before giving him his new contract and traded that 8 mill in cap for a cap dump vet, the sharks could get a "free" 2nd round pick or two 3rds each season.
      Those extra draft picks do not guarantee anything but it should only help the sharks future. Hertl does not matter now because the overall team is not good enough.
      NHL players still need to care about their own offensive stats even if they lose every game.
      If you still do not understand it is like when the jackets signed Johnny hockey it was just wasteful for them to do that.

    • @rubberduckie5518
      @rubberduckie5518 Год назад

      @@DanRaidersWarriorsSharksGiants Ya I get what you mean.
      His AAV isn’t too bad but it’s the term and NMC that hurts his value.
      They probly could’ve gotten some picks or prospect as a rental then just signed other UFA’s with the cap room.
      Still not too horrible. Even with Hertl the team isn’t good enough to compete for playoffs so they should get bottom 5 finishes no problem.
      Sharks should try to “steal” some young players from other teams that have given up or buried their young players who havn’t been looked at enough. Canucks’ Podkolzin comes to mind as an example.

    • @DanRaidersWarriorsSharksGiants
      @DanRaidersWarriorsSharksGiants Год назад

      @@rubberduckie5518 His AAV would be ok on a top 10 team but on the sharks it is a dumpster fire because he literally doesn't matter just like johnny on the jackets.
      The sharks should avoid expensive players over 3 mill unless it is a cap dump player they get prospects for.
      Trading for a prospect that you can get at a discount my only issue with that is I do not want the sharks trading their own picks. A top 3 pick in each round has value in keeping them or getting more in return since it can be traded as a top 5 pick in each round or so.
      If the Sharks had traded #4 overall for #14 and #39 and a random future 1st and trading down again after that it can give the team more ammo to do something like you are saying without it costing the team any of it's own picks.
      My point is the team could trade down again and offer like a 3rd round pick that was not even originally the sharks own pick for a prospect like Podkolzin and countless others or keep the pick for the best PPG prospect at the highest level.
      If Will Smith is a HOF player than obviously what I am saying might sound silly but if the overall sharks team is not a legit cup contender he still will not matter.
      I highly assume the 8 mill the sharks pay Hertl would be at least 2 "free" 3rd round picks a season for all 8 years of his contract. If the team is not a legit cup contender it makes no sense for Hertl to be here.
      Grier did not give Hertl his new contract though so he is stuck with him unless Hertl wants a trade himself.

    The Canucks have built themselves quite a buffer, but is it time to start worrying? 5-5-0 in their last 10 games. The advanced stats seemed like their flying start wasn't sustainable and it's starting to look like that, but we'll see.

    Embarrassing loss for the Canucks. They’re a sure lock to lose when on HNIC. Sharks played hard. Petey is nowhere to be found & certainly not worth 12 million per. I’d put him in JT’s range perhaps a little less. He’s a defensive liability now & lacks offensive creativity & drive.
