It's a bum that you got taxed because there's no distributors in Canada. Since the company is Korean, I might be able to get it under $3-400 in second hands in few years. Thank you for your real recording of the bass. (I'm a big fan of Sire as well and I can't just stop thinking of buying this bass)
@@KevinMajkaI don’t know. But I guess it’s like the V3 4 strings. Usually a regular bass has somewhere around 19-20mm spacing, 5 string basses are 16-17mm due to the extra string. The sire V3 is the equivalent of this bass but jazz style and it has 18mm it’s a tiny little bit tighter bcuz of the rolled edges. Which I think it’s okay. To be fair I didn’t notice any practical difference between the Z3 and a regular fender jazz or precision I have. Hope this helped a little bit
Nice review. Feeling really good about picking this up. A lot of videos didn't hone in on the tones and talk about a lot of the details. After 2 very bad experiences with Ray34s (1 twisted neck + 2 frozen truss rods & not having them wired in parallel, which is what everyone wants), I'm hoping this $450 beauty will fit the bill.
Sounds incredible. Still divided on getting this vs. an SUB which have the proper headstock and better colour selection. I'd nearly fork out for the Z7 for the better colours but I'm poor. How does it compare size wise to other Stingrays? Is it the same length? it's hard to tell if the headstock is more compact than the huge fender ones - what I like about the Stingray SUBS is they're a little more compact overall than a Fender bass
Great review, I am so glad to hear "Zed" as apposed to "Zee"! Haha 🤘🏻🇨🇦. I've the V5, rhe necks are simply amazing on these basses. I'll be gettin mine via Thomann 🇩🇪, sent here to me on "the Emerald," 😎🇮🇪.
You forgot the exchange rate. So Exchange rate. About 25% Shipping 150$ Duties 33% I’m waiting for Cosmo Music to get them. I bought my Ricky 4003 in Cleveland. I was visiting friends. The exchange rate at the time was on par.
Sweetwater ships for free within the USA… why not Canada??? We are basically brothers… and about the taxes I paid at the boarder… in Canada we basically pay 13% on every product we buy. The sire Z3 over here costs 779$CAD is about 100$CAD… the boarder made me pay 175$CAD for no clear reason. I will never do this again
So the bass works without batteries, just so you know. If you lift the last knob (the bass knob) the bass with become passive and not use any batteries. If you have a nice amp and loud then I believe you can dial your preferences on your amp and won’t need to do that on the active preamp. I personally have a sansamp pedal I can pretty much dial any tone in there, so having an active bass is kinda redundant for me. But I like the fact I can just control on the fly my main EQs.
I don’t view as a clone. But as an OPTION. A the word clone kinda feels cheap. I mean, the bass is way cheaper than a music man, but what it offers for the money you pay…
@@markkeeler584it’s better in my opinion and a few other RUclipsrs are making videos about this bass and they are praising it quite a lot. In my humble opinion I think it’s better having this z3 rather than the Sterling Ray34. I played the ray 34 quite a bit. I love it, but the z3 feels more comfortable. The rolled edge feels nice, smooth and quick. I also like the tone better. But tone is very personal.
@@markkeeler584and the price! The z3 is half of the price of the Ray34! Any other sterling below the Ray34 , the z3 is miles better. The Ray34 is a contender, but the price speaks for itself

Apparently there is a sire distributor in Canada but it’s in Quebec and they don’t even have this new model yet… sadly
Thanks for the review, it was really informative, great video!
You got me with the Green Day. Nice work. Enjoy your new bass!
Green day rocks! The bass is versatile. Imagine dialing the eq correctly and adding a little drive? Perfect Dirnt tone
@@DadPlaysBass do you know what the string spacing is on that one? Sorry for a nerdy tech question.

Thanks for the review. I’m glad you like it, I’m loving mine!
Hey I watch you! Love you videos!
Thanks, this was very helpful. I was looking for a more real-world review of this bass.
Like to see side by side comparison say with a Ray 34 since it also has a 3 band EQ
I only have a Ray4 and it only has a 2 band EQ. And that’s my plan for the next video
@@DadPlaysBass The wierd part is the Ray 24 is closest to the Z3 in price and the Ray 34 is closest in features so it's like 2 for 1

The ray 34 sound great, I just think this is a better bass
Your experience is very similar to mine. The quality is excellent for less than half the price of a Sterling.
Thanks for the review, mate. And thats a nice sounding bass
Yeah man! Same genre..Green Day, Ramones, The Clash. Me on bass also. We have a Sire distributor here in Singapore.
Punk is the best! Cheers brother

Nice video brother!

Thanks for review😊
You forgot the exchange rate.
So
Exchange rate. About 25%
Shipping 150$
Duties 33%
I’m waiting for Cosmo Music to get them.
I bought my Ricky 4003 in Cleveland. I was visiting friends. The exchange rate at the time was on par.
I talked to sweetwater today. They refunded me 50% of the shipping 71$ USD for the shipping cost. It’s expensive but better than paying almost 150$
Sounds amazing
Nice growl
Great Bass bro, very Nice, 🎸💯⚡🤘, saludos
Saludos para ti también manito
Good tracks , Nice picks
I appreciate it brother!
Great review
Great video!!! If I had my eyes closed, I'd assume you were playing a StingRay!!! Sire does it AGAIN!!!
Honestly they feel pretty similar. The rolled edge neck it’s better, ima not gonna lie.
Very nice playing.
Glad you like it!
Nice. Sounds good
Sweetwater is in Fort Wayne, Indiana...my home state ✌️😎
Yup, but somehow my order came thru Chicago
nice!
Next time you need a bass or anything from USA hit me up. I'll ship it to you
Fees? We don’t need no stinkin’ fees.

nobody talked about it but this bass only works with the 2 batterys?? it can go passive too???
Yes… I talked about passive/active and how to prompt it. Also mentioned the bass works with two 9v batteries. It’s a 18v preamp system.
