IDK whAT GAME you were watching but Pepi hold up play was better and not only that his percentage and goal ration is the best in the USA.... do people in USA just overlook pepi because of his stature ? sargent did jack shit and what game were you watching ?
pepi is actually good , he atleast touches the ball sargent gets no touches and hes only good in the second league of england ranked 14-16 best league in the world
@@imjerry4313 modesty is not part of USA's culture. This fake nation had been founded on thinking of themselves as being superior to everyone else, so being humble is alien to them. They'll only do it when they need to save their a55e5 or gain money out of it, pretty much like with all other moral principles. Morality and superiority complex exclude each other
Yeah, no. I'm calling out both of yall 1. Stop focusing on the Weah red card. It was bad from the player but it's not why we lost to Panama and it's a copout excuse, Connor. We were doing fine with a 10 man 4-4-1 vs Panama until Berhalter decided to take out another midfielder in Gio and play 5 at the back. That invited relentless pressure from Panama since we no longer had numbers in the center and we conceded. And do you know why that's a copout excuse, Connor? Because Chile went down to 10 men vs Canada midway through the 1st half AND PLAYED COMPETITIVELY! Canada looked super uncomfortable and barely edged out a draw vs Gareca's 10 man Chile, who were pressing like madmen and winning duels. IT IS POSSIBLE TO PLAY TO WIN when down to 10 men, ESPECIALLY when the player talent gap is big as it was between Panama and USA. Weah is getting far too much blame like Dest did vs Jamaica. Red cards happen, good coaches figure it out with Plan Bs, Berhalter didnt. 2. That was not a great USMNT performance vs Uruguay. Yes, they stifled them hard. Yes, Uruguay have better talent than us in almost every position bar a few. But in terms of performance, all the USMNT did was press hard in the 1H but do little in transition which is why we barely had a couple of shots attempted the entire game and why Uruguay edged us out on xG (1.41 for Uruguay, 0.4 for USA). Yes, yes, yes Uruguay is a top 3 team I get it. But a better manager would've figured out to put on Haji Wright on the left, Pulisic on the right and let them stretch the Uruguayan backline with Balo running the center, who is a transition beast (oh and why did Berhalter bring out Pepi for Balo?). Playing MMA for a defensive grinder and starting McKennie despite him being overweight and terrible for the tournament was a mistake. Pushing Reyna out of his favored CAM position did not set us up to win. So again, I respect Uruguay's talent and Bielsa > Berhalter, but we could've been set up to do better. 3. You overrate what Berhalter has done with this team. He has zero signature wins against top 25 international sides not named Mexico. That is abysmal because even last decade when we were trotting out old man Dempsey with cardiovascular problems and the skeleton of Michael Bradley and a bunch of MLS nobodies, we were able to beat European teams on European soil. We didn't even look competitive vs the Netherlands in 2022 when they ripped us apart easily and the England draw was a defensive MMA grind that wasn't setup to win. I don't want to overrate the USMNT players too much since this channel loves to pretend that American players are bad but we do have enough talent to be doing better than this. Pulisic had his best career season at Milan and was one of Serie A's top goal-assist scorers, similar numbers to Leao. McKennie picked up the most assists (10) of all Juve midfielders although I am not liking his professionalism issues. Johnny Cardoso was a standout for Real Betis in La Liga (didnt play much, no idea why). Chris Richards had a below average tournament but was a regular at Palace and did well in a couple games against very difficult Premier League quality forwards. Ream was not good at Fulham this season but is still good enough defensively. Antonee Robinson is a standout LB in the EPL, at least as a physical defensive fullback. Scally had a mid season at Gladbach but still very young and showed that he can be relied on to defend. Haji Wright and Sargent ran the Championship and both were leaders in the Championship's top scorer leaderboard. Malik Tillman was a standout at PSV and one of our most creative players. We have the ingredients here to do better than Berhalter and not just accept this nonsense that going down to 10 men vs Panama is acceptable and that Uruguay are a massive level above us (they are on paper if you compare the best XIs, but coaching can close that gap and their depth ain't Brazil-tier either)
I just checked, and this is the first time in the 48 edition 108 year history of the Copa America that the host nation has failed to advance to the knockout stage.
Even if it was a draw, US still wouldn't have qualified. Being happy with stifling a team that didn't really have much to play for is not great ambition.
Proud of this team, Connor??!!! Prior to this tourney, losses to Germany, Trinidad and Tobago, and Colombia. Trash performances against Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica. The team is regressing.
Uruguay’s defense is extremely tough to break down. They’re literally like a brick wall. If they score on you first game is already over. Only way other teams can possibly score against them is from a rare 1v1 counter

Connor, I think you’re being too nice to USA. Chile was able to hold a draw with 10 against Canada. If a Chile that’s barely starting to recover from terrible form can do that, shouldn’t we be able to expect the same of the US’s golden generation?
As a Uruguay hincha, The var offsides rule was bullshit even if technically correct. This will keep determining outcomes and yes Championships. U.S.A. players deserve much credit. Their fallacy was to make the game a war when Uruguay loves it.

HUGE improvement for the USMNT's passing beginning with the Colombia game. 52% possession against Colombia and 50% possession against Uruguay. Not sure about the Brazil game. Nevertheless, the US' passing has noticeably improved. The passing looks faster, smoother, & better. We could use two new fullbacks, and I think the team needs to use another 10-style player playing the right wing in the 4-2-3-1.
