- I hope you enjoy this improvisation on the wonderful hymn tune of the 'OLD HUNDREDTH' / 'All People That on Earth Do Dwell! Get the sheet music for this piece as a pdf download here: www.paulfeyorg...
On the last weekend I've had the incredible opportunity to play and record the magnificent Marcussen-Organ in St. Laurenskerk Rotterdam which has been one of my favourite instruments in the 'Hauptwerk-Software' for a long time. The 'real' organ is in dire need of restauration which will be heard and seen in a follow-up video in the next days!

Het gaat je wel soepeltjes af.

Dank je wel! ❣️
Love your sensitivity on the organ. Listening and watching from Canada 🇨🇦
Wonderful,- thankyu: Ludwig
Thank you for watching!!
Thank you so much for watching!! 😀
@@PaulFey I watched several times 😜
Wonderful,genial!!!Bravo....once again dear Paul...
Philippe du bois
Great improvisation! I feel full of joy listening to you playing
You are the same age as me (24) and when I see you playing I'm so amazed and impressed.
Since 5 I've wanted to play the organ, this instrument is my love. I finally started 2 years ago. Playing in Leipzig where Bach did , might be so emotional
Thank you so much!!
I like your choice of registration.
Thank you, Robert! 😀
Paul this is just amazing. Here I am staying up way too late instead of sleeping and feeling inspired by your masterful rendition of this hymn. I wish I had been able to study the organ at uni.
Thank you so much for watching, Ryan!! 😀
I can only agree with you 👏
DANKE 🙏🏻
Das freut mich sehr! Herzlichen Dank fürs Zuschauen!! 😀😊
Hi Paul, this is truly a beautiful and special video. The church and organ are beautiful to look at, and of course the sound is spectacular. I like the way you are adding in videos of the church itself. It is obvious that you are inspired by the instrument itself and being able to touch the keys on the real instrument after all the time of playing through Hauptwerk. I hope that you recorded more while you were there. I really enjoyed your improvisations and registrations. A great presentation. Thank you Paul for another great video.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Gene! The real instrument was really inspiring for me! A lot more videos are to come soon 😀
Hallo, lieber Paul Fey.
Vielen vielen herzlichen Dank, Steffen!! 😊
In the Netherlands this is Psalm 134. Especialy the second and third verse was often used to bless a wedding. In the old rhymes of 1773 the very solemn text is:
(2) Heft uwe handen naar omhoog / Slaat naar het Heiligdom uw oog / En knielt eerbiedig voor Hem neer / Looft, looft nu aller heren Heer. (3) "Dat 's HEEREN zegen op u daal' / Zijn gunst uit Sion u bestraal' / Hij schiep 't heelal, Zijn naam ter eer / Looft, looft dan aller heren Heer. (I'm sorry, I can't translate that, perhaps somebody else?)
When you start to play, dearest Paul, the wonderful sounds descends to the deepest edges of my soul... sooo emotional... And I've never been maried, but now I'm married with this beautiful improvisation, I think 🥲
I guess: it wasn't a punishment to play on the real version of the Marcussen organ? 😉
Oh thank you so much, Johan! It was a wonderful experience to play the real organ after hearing and loving the sampled version! Maybe I‘ll get to visit Utrecht-Cathedral in Summer! 😀
Paul, your improvisational skills are incredible. Thank you for sharing this joy with us.
Hello Paul, thank you for sharing your improvisation with us! I enjoy it very much. The recorded sound is quite good; the quality of your videos is always excellent. What joy it must have been for you to play the Marcussen organ at the Laurenskerk! I was fortunate to have attended the 40th anniversary rededication of this organ and concert on 8th December 2013, an event I'll always remember very fondly. Looking forward to more of your performances, I send warmest wishes to you from Seattle.
Totally love it !
Paul,
You bring the music and the instrument to life with true love and spirit. Makes my heart and soul swell with pure joy.
Thank you. It has always been a dream of mine to be able to play a cathedral organ like you!
Kristi
I‘m so happy to hear that, Kristi! Thank you so much 😀
Uplifting, Maestro ! 👏👏👏👏👏👍👍
Played with the joy the hymn deserves. Thank you, Paul.
Vielen Dank!! Eine wundervolle Kirche und Orgel! 😀
Kurz gesagt: hervorragend und beeindruckend. 👍👏👏
Vielen Dank!! 😊
The sound just washed over me and I was in heaven! Thank you Paul, you are one of the great masters of the organ!
It is also marvellous to see you live on this wonderful organ and part of your travel to get there 😀
Thank you so much, Paddy! 😀
oh my... this is so good
Thank you so much! 😀
C’est un musicien passionnant !
well done !
To see you on this famous organ, your way of playing your own improvisation, so confident, that's wonderful to hear. I'm incredibly happy.
Thank you so so much! 😀
Hi Paul, this improvisation is superb. You perform it quite well. The church’s interior is stunningly beautiful. Thanks for the joy you bring into our troubled world.
Agreed. A very remarkable performance.
But, could I ask, when you write 'quite well' do you mean 'very well'?
This seems to be one of those many differences between British English and American English. In the UK, 'quite well' implies, 'yes, it wasn't bad (could have been better, but it was OK)'.
@@Offshoreorganbuilder VERY WELL, Exceptionally well.
@@davidlwebb324 Thanks for the confirmation. I thought that's what you must have intended.
Stupendous!! I agree the videography excellent as well as the improvisation on the OLD 100th.You are really in the fast lane in improvement in your playing skills and registrations. Congrats, Paul.
Thank you so much, John!! 😀
Vielen lieben Dank!! 😊
Paul, you have such a wonderful gift! As a (now) mostly retired organist, there are two pearls I give.
1. Our gift of music is our gift from God. When we use it, that is our gift back to him.
2. When one of us retires, another gifted one takes their place.
Keep up your good work!!!!
Thank you so much for watching!! 😊😀
Moïen Mr. Fey , 😊 einfach fantasteg wonnerschéin, vielen herzlichen Dank, merci beaucoup, mille grazie ! RJ
Thank you so much!! 😀
Oh, Lordy - it's the real thing! I'm SO happy for you! And a beautiful improvisation, as you always do.
No pistons? Totally mechanical stop action? BRAVO! 😁🐧
Thank you so much!! 😀 No pistons, no sequencer and a very heavy tracker action, but totally awesome anyway! 😊
That work has an arresting kind of beauty. I don't know enough about organ music to describe it beyond that. Thanks for sharing your excellent work.
Thank you so much for watching!
What Virgil Fox did for "Now Thank We All Our God" you have done for "All People That On Earth Do Dwell." We are all going to have to learn this might work. Thank you and Congratulations.
Thank you so much!!
Your playing and the traditional organ with its history is wonderful.
Thank you so much!! 😀
Awesome! Very jealous that you got to play the organ! I’d like to play it as well, please!! 😃
Ich weiß nicht was ich sagen soll. Einfach wunderbar das ganze kleine Video.
Das freut mich sehr! 😀
Hi lieber Paul!
Hammer Vorstellung!
Vielen herzlichen Dank, Joachim!! 😀
Paul your performance was thrilling, you make this organ really sing
Thank you so much, William! I‘m glad to hear that you enjoyed the video 😀
Paul that was fantastic! Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow. You have been truly blessed with such a great gift and you so freely share your talent with others. Thank you for bringing others the joyful sounds of music. 👏👏🤗🤗
Thank you so much for watching, Scott! I‘m so happy to hear that you like it! 😀
Einfach wunderbar deine Impro Paul Fey. Vielen vielen Dank. 😌👍👍👍👌👌👌
Herzlichen Dank 😀
Dear Paul; this is about you. It shows you - not the just the instrument you clearly love. And that's really special. A bit like Steinway offering the best artists their own piano and technician for their travels. Not that you can heave the Marcussen around with a techie for perpetual rebuilds. Guess you'll just have to manage with Hauptwerk until the age of teleportation descends on us.....
Restoration sounds interesting. Will wait with baited organ pressure. Trevor
Haha, thank you so much, Trevor! 😀
You've really found your very own goldmine. Congratulations.
Thank you so much, Charles! 😀
I don't know what to say anymore. Every single video you upload is yet another incredible performance. And this one on the organ in St Laurenskerk! All I can think to say is keep it up!!!
I‘m so happy to hear that, Michael! Thank you so much 😀
“Fantastic Fey” does it again! Thanks, Paul. You make it look sooo easy!
Thank you so much for watching, Peter!! 😀
This was truly amazing Paul. Wow - what an experience - and thank you for sharing all the little details with us. The sound of this mighty organ rings in all of our ears - but the real thing is special in a way that cannot be captured - bravo bravo bravo!!!!
Thank you so much, Jerry!! 😀
That's awesome! Paul 👍👍👍👍👍
I feel God's blessing by you~🌹🌹🌹
Thank you so much 😀😊
Paul more steps, more keys and what a treat playing the old 100th on this instrument - another gem of a performance.
Thank you so much, Michael 😊😀
WOW! What a joyous improvisation and what a magnificent organ on which to play it! I have enjoyed listening to so many or your Hauptwerk sample set recordings on this instrument, Paul, but what a thrill for you (and for us) to now experience the Marcussen organ for real! The reverberation as you released that final chord was awesome and the voicing of the pipe work is simply stunning. Playing the real instrument (particularly pulling stops!) will have been so very much more physically demanding than using the pedal sequencer on your Gloria home instruments! I am so glad you have been given this opportunity to play the organ and raise awareness of the restoration it now needs with your growing fan base on RUclips. Congratulations to you and BRAVO!
Thank you so much, Graham! It really was an amazing experience to play the real instrument! 😀
Wow! Stunning and captivating improvisation. The Netherlands is certainly keeping their tradition of ecclesiastical music alive and well.
Thank you so much for watching! 😀
Ok young man, where did you get those keys?
OMG! What a brilliant performance!! Wonderful played as always! THANK YOU!!😁👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I absolutely love this organ!!❤❤
Thank you so much, Peter!! 😊😀
You're so incredibly welcome Paul!😁😁
sehr sehr schön, danke!
Danke fürs Zuschauen 😀
Thanks for sharing this with the rest of us! When I watch you and Gert van Hoef play, I think of Anton Bruckner. His symphonies mean the most to me of the symphonic literature. But he was famous in his life time for his organ recitals. There are no RUclips videos of those. So I enjoy yours and consider how Bruckner's audiences must have appreciated being in the audience then. All the Best!
Thank you so much, Wayne! 😀
Einfach super!
Dankeschön! 😀
Listening to this brings back so many memories of the church in Lincoln, NE I use to sing for under the direction of Tom Trenney. Thank you for lifting my spirits with your beautiful playing. Truly spectacular.
I‘m so happy to hear that! Thank you for watching, Todd!! 😀
Wonderful...superb technique and musicality. Of course, a fabulous Pipe Organ too in the hands of a budding master! Bravo Monsieur/Maestro Fey!
Thank you so much!!
O M G
What a burst of pure joy! Thank you Paul!!
You have been blessed with such talent - so much enjoy listening to your playing the king of instruments!
Thank you so much, Howard! 😊
Magnifique !!! Bravo et merci !!!
Thank you so much! 😀
Hello Paul. That was a very good, lively and interesting improvisation which i enjoyed very much. Loved the interspersed shots of the church too. Keep up the excellent work.
Thank you so much for watching! I‘m so happy to hear that you enjoyed the camera-work too - I love filming these cutscenes 😀
Lovely playing. I got to play this instrument in 1978, when it was quite new. It blew my mind☺️ can’t believe how well you handle such a large organ. And love the visual aspect of the video too
Oh that‘s awesome!! You experienced the organ in a wonderful condition then 😀 They‘ve gotten some problems with the instrument lately which I‘ll show in a separate video soon!
Überwältigend deine Leistung Paul Fey. Du bist ein begnadeter Organist. Du bist so faszinierend mit deinem herrlichen Spiel. Vielen herzlichen Dank 😀👍👍👍👌👌👌
Vielen lieben Dank fürs Zuschauen! Das freut mich sehr 😀
Merveilleux vraiment merveilleux!
Ohhhh Paul you went already to Rotterdam without telling before... (I Just got released from hospital and have to recover but next time contact me please so I can time also pictures of you playing.
This is marvelous wow... what a treat to plat the real one isn't it 😄
I will do so! I hope you are getting better soon!! 😀😊
I hope so too. Thank you, lets hope I am cancer free now. (Still I need treatment but the heavyest part is done by now)
Wonderful improvisation and playing. Thank you
Thank you so much, Gavin 😀
Beautiful!
Or saying it in Dutch; ontzettend prachtig!
It's truly one of the most beautiful organs of the Netherlands. Greetings from Holland!

Époustouflant 💪👍👍👍
that was quite something.
Thank you very much!!
OMG! You are becoming quite a good RUclips videographer and story teller as well! I LOVED the video journey to the organ. Such a great way to invite us in to hear you play!
I‘m so happy to hear that! I really enjoyed filming these short cutscenes! 😀
@@PaulFey Yeah, I'd encourage you to do more of the story telling. Makes everything so much more engaging. I come for the music, as everyone does. (I am an not an organ afficianado, but I put your videos on a playlist as I work throughout some days.) But I would stay connected through the story telling. (also enjoy you explaining the music you have composed.)
Fine
Hi Paul,
Nice to that you had the opportunity to finally play the real organ! That's a fantastic experience!
It really was an incredible opportunity! Thank you so much for watching 😀
Another inspirational "shot in the arm" of musical vitamins! Thanks
Oh thank you so much, Mark!! 😀😊
I love your music and the video. It's wonderful to watch, and you are always easy on the eye.
I‘m so happy to hear that, Michael! Thank you!! 😀
Wirklich schönes Video, gewaltige Orgel und meisterliches Spiel.
Herzlichen Dank! 😀
Paul, this is an outstanding video! The opening sequence of video taping the outside and the little excursion as you make your way to the organ console, and the beautiful music you created, just astonishing! Thank you for you uploads!
I‘m so happy to hear that, Michael! I really enjoyed filming these short sequences! 😀
@@PaulFey I know it must take a lot of extra work for you, but the creativity is beautiful! keep up the awesome work!

AMAZING! You are playing the organ of the Grote Kerk THE REAL DEAL! I can't wait!
Ooooooh yes! :D An amazing instrument - although it needs some maintainance-work done. I'll inform more on this topic in a future video!
@@PaulFey Understandable. The Chamades are a little bit out of tune.
A good job, beautifully played.
