The joy on Paul's face as he completed this concert is priceless. He is definitely a highly competent organist--a master at such a young age. You can tell that he enjoys sharing his musical inspiration with others. Saint John's Seminary is fortunate to have had Paul for this musical presentation. Music definitely transcends the boundaries of denominations. And your organ is one of the best.

Dear Paul. I’m so glad that I got to hear your concert!!💕. I so wanted to attend, but the drive from Connecticut by myself with the storm was prohibitive. I absolutely love you and your musical talent ! No one can speak to me with the organ the way you do! Your writings, presentations, body language exudes your passion and emotions that you pour into these beautiful works! I hope one day that in Connecticut or even Providence Rhode Island you could do a concert. That would be easy and I could bring several enthusiasts too!! Thank you for posting that concert. Lots of love and prayers to you, my friend. Royden

I agree. The sound technician must have either been an amateur or half deaf because the equalization was some of the worst I've heard in a very long time and definitely not representative of Paul's playing or composition!

@@organgrinder1962 Very interesting bad sound. The recorder is so overloaded that the dynamics are completely destroyed. And the mic placement, wherever it is, is completely wrong. Any cough or other extraneous noise somehow overrides that enormous organ! The EQ doesn't seem too bad to me but I'm 76 and my hearing has been wrecked by various issues. Things seem to improve at the Fantasie.

Do not think this concert in any way represents in MY OPINION, what the average Catholic hears in the Archdiocese of Boston. Beyond perhaps Saint Paul's in Cambridge or Stella Maris in Beverly, the archdiocese is liturgically dead and the majority of the parishes and clergy still think that Eagles Wings and Here I am Lord are the height of traditional Catholic music. In addition many organs are allowed to go to rack and ruin to be replaced by tin pan alley electronic pianos which better suit the reigning musical zietgiest. The seminary does expose the candidates to good liturgical music but once these men are ordained and find themselves in the parish, the Karens and the Bobs of the parish council make sure that Catholic music culture never leaves the seminary grounds. At the Cathedral, where I once attended a diaconanate ordination the music was good but during communion, even thought the Hispanic world has produced brilliant composers, we, during communion were treated to bad mariachi music screamed at us through the mic. If you want to see how blandly awful the liturgy can be watch the Mass on Boston Catholic TV. The Boson Archdiocese does nothing to elevate either the liturgy or the celebration of the Mass. There is zero leadership or interest. Each parish is left to fend for itself. If you want to hear good liturgical Catholic music in its proper liturgical setting where both the music and the liturgy function in a unified way to give glory to God than you need to go to the Anglo Catholic Church of the Advent at the bottom of Beacon Hill. There Catholic music and liturgical culture having been banished from the main steam lobotomized official church has found a refuge. I apologize to any other parishes of which I am unaware, if your Catholic musical culture does reflect what the Council really intended. As a roaming Catholic this is what I have found to be true through personal experience. God has not granted me the powers of bi-location. I would love to be corrected.

I agree with you 1005. THE DIOCESE OF PHOENIX IS DITTO EXCEPT FOR THE CATHEDRAL AND THE BASILICA. I am fortunate that my parish has one traditional Mass on Sunday and a superb organist to play out Rogers Hybrid digital organ.

You at least read what I said. The first two responses have nothing to do with my observations. As an afterthought, after expressing my unfiltered observations, I asked myself if I were willing to deal with the"hornet's nest'' i had rattled. The total silence meas either A: everyone know this is true so why even bother commenting or B: who cares? I suspect B.
