For those who purchased the Monster IlluminEssence LED Strip on Black Friday from Walmart, you probably got left with a defective unit. Over the past month, we have been trying to come up with a solution, working with both Monster and the factory that produces the products to identify and solve the issue. However, it's Christmas and we're tired of waiting, and we're sure you are, as well. The good news is that there is a solution!
A new batch of product has been produced and shipped to Walmart stores across the country. We've tested quite a few of the new units and they have all been a success. If you have not installed your strip, simply swap them out at your local store. If you have already installed the strip, purchase a new one at your local store, swap the control units, and return the defective one. The key is that you need to look at the bottom of the box for the new batch number (1929A) and on the control unit for the new batch number (1906).

this brand is a rip off. i’ve bought 2 different sets by the same brand and i can never get the controller to work. it’s ridiculous!! $30 for something that doesn’t even work.
Jasmine Rose That is a perfectly reasonable reaction. We would feel the same way as well if we hadn't been exposed to the product before the defect. The company is producing a new line, manufactured by a different company right now. We had the opportunity to speak with the team this week and see the new products. They are a far cry from this unfortunate disaster, and the new manufacturer is fully aware of the problems you and so many others have experienced.

your led lights plug ins are probably not in right when you look at the wires you should see letters facing you

How did you do it
Used this to fix a different type of monster led strips. Colors were reversed but working on a 2nd strip. Red button-blue
Blue button- red, etc. Fixed the issue with holding down the brightness/speed button. Thank you!

I just bought this yesterday and am having the same issue with the remote not working. Kinda frustrating once you find out this problem has been going on for a while and they haven’t done nothing to fix it

For anyone who sees this in the future I figured out what was wrong. the part that you attach the USB to the lights you have to flip it over and plug it together again. Then they will cut right on

Thank you for this video and for your time looking into this 😁 I actually took mine back today and got a store credit refund. I went back to look for a replacement and they had a small space led kit that came with the strip, remote, and an LED dimmable bulb which only cost like $14.88 instead of 12.88 for just the single strip so I got that instead cuz I figured for $2 more why not.

De’Azia Moore No, your lights do not match the information in this video? If not, what batch number are they? Also, have you made sure the control unit is plugged in the correct direction with the Monster logo facing forward?

Hi, I just got my led lights like 2 days ago and the remote isn’t working for me either. I tried doing what you said, but the lights won’t flash. I can change it once really quickly, but it won’t work after that. H e l p. I’m kind of disappointed I didn’t do my research first

I bought a small kit today with the led lights and bulb and I’ve tried everything to try and connect the led lights to the remote but nothing has worked only the bulb works and idk if I’m doing something wrong someone please help

That's the same one I have. It doesn't even light up when I plugged it into the USB. It was only $2 dollars...lol. So I should take it back and get another one or just buy a different brand?
I have the 16.5 ft for under my bed and I've tried 3 different remotes and cannot get them to pair. They pair with my TV lights and my light bulbs in the ceiling.
i’ve been trying to connect two strips for like an hour and it literally won’t work like bro
so i have 2 LED light strips in my room and they both connected to one remote and one of them doesnt change the same as the other one even if it turn it off and on one light turns normal white and the other is baby blue it all started when i kept it on for like 8pm-8am and i woke up with it with 2 different colors

Hello, I have a newer version of this called 1932A. I got it at Walmart like 2 days ago. At fIrst the remote was working fine then after a few days it stopped. I tried pairing it multiple times with the high speed button and it still won’t work. Is there any suggestions on how to fix it?
Ali_Childx Have you tried pairing while holding the remote against the control unit? Some people have had success with that.
My is my controller or lights ig. I try to change the colors but it only has white, green, and yellow. But when I plug it in to the little white thing that connects to your wall it quickly goes to red and blue (new colors)
We've not heard of that one. Have you tried a different power brick?
My spend button still is not working what so ever, it lights up red that it's feeling my touch. But not reacting to speed or when you hold it down for few seconds to pair n it's supposed to flash... Nothing.... I just bought them yesterday.
I'm just now seeing this; yay! I read in the comments someone else with a defective 1915A batch; that's also the defective one I have. I don't know which was the first as I took it back and exchanged it for another defective unit. I'll go and see if they have any at my local Walmart; I never even removed these from the circular holder. Thanks!!
I was pissed that Walmart wouldn't swap mine out, even though I had not unboxed them. They told me I had to get a replacement thru Monster. The Walmart where I live is a joke, though. Everything is locked in cabinets now and we have to push a button to get anything. And of course no employees ever show up.

I have 1906 and only been using it for a couple days and I cannot control my led strip. It turns on but I cannot use the remote. I get red ring for each button I press. It would not re-pair.
I just popped batteries out and back in. Did the re-pair dance and it works.. no battery change just out and back in. Very odd. We do have a 2.4ghz 5ghz router nearby. Is it possible there is interference as well?
I have a problem mine don’t work but I already stick them onto the wall and threw away the thing that keeps this sticky part safe and the thing that you roll the leds into in the trash how will I be able to return the leds to Walmart :(

I have these lights and when I plug them into my outlet it just turns on sky blue *default color* and when I try to turn them red or green or a different color it doesn’t work. Can someone help me please. I literally bought the LED strips yesterday and one strip wont respond to the remote. Like everything else responds to the remote besides this. and if it does its super delayed. i moved it around in different areas and still nothing. Is there a way to fix this so both the strips can respond at the same time?
That is a common problem, unfortuantely. There is a big defect with the product. There have been people who say it works if you go through the pairing process, remove the batteries from the remote, and put them back. Others have suggested that holding the remote to the control unit while pairing works. Our recommendation is to try the new SKU instead: bit.ly/MonsterLedStripS

My uncle gave me some monster led lights strips but without the controller and I got the bulb that come with the strip, how I can connect the those ones to the ones that I got?

Okay, so I figured it out if you didn’t, this also works…
Unplug the connector to the lights (both the usb, the one that plugs into the lights, not the wall plug in) try unplugging, then plugging back in, and if that doesn’t work, all you have to do it unplug it, and turn it the other way and plug it back in, it sounds so simple but it worked for me 😂

I plugged in the lights and they lit up white or teal my room is weird, and I went to change it and the remote didn’t work. I turned it on off unpaired it paired it, there was no reaction other than the little red light telling me I pressed a button. What the hell is going onnnnn
I just installed it in my room I got t he light bulb working but the strip didn’t work when I tried stick it to my wall and and I charged the strip for like maybe 5 minutes
The strip does not have a battery, so you will not charge it. They must be plugged in to function.

The defect has not been 100%, but it has been a significant percentage. It looks like you got one of the lucky few that worked from 1905.

looking at this video and comments i thought my lights were defected..when they only reset back to blue when i turn my tv off (since their connected to my tvs usb) and i was thinking i got some bad ones but i’m guessing they just reset back when they turn off. unless there’s a way to “lock” a certain color. but honestly if mine aren’t defected i don’t really mind at all setting my preferred color each time though it does get a bit annoying with the pad trying to get the exact color.
Yes. They ALWAYS power on to the default white (sometimes looks blue to people because it's a really cold white). Besides the defect, it is the most commented on issue with the design. The replacements power back on to the last color state.

Well I did as you'd said in a video and bought one to replace the piece and bought a few others In that batch and... All but one worked even the 16 foot one will not pair.
Unfortunately, the defect returned, and expanded to the longer one. It's been a real disappointment that the factory did not care about the users. The company did, however, and has switched to a new factory going forward.

I bought the 6.5ft x 3 LED strips in the US last week. I’m back home in Canada trying to set them up, i have tried multiple different sets of batteries and the remote still won’t work. There is no red dot in the middle, which means i obviously can’t pair it. I can’t return this product and i also can’t get a hold of monster to explain what is going on. Seems now like a huge waste of money. Any solution?
madison russell If the ring doesn't activate when you press a button, either the battery or the remote control is not working. This is a different issue from normal. We haven't experienced many bad remotes.
This doesnt work on the new version either. I have Model 2015A on the Box and 2006 on the plug and I still cant pair the remote
For the ppl with the light stuck on only a certain amount of colors or sometimes not working you have shortsis**in your power card try twisting it and taping it to one side
