  • In this video I show troubleshooting steps on why the remote may not be working on your Monster LED Light Strip. The remote may not be working because of the battery, the IR Receiver location, the USB port the lights are plugged into, or because of interference with the IR Receiver being too close to the TV IR receiver. If these troubleshooting steps don’t help you will want to contact the Monster company to see what they advise for the next step. Thanks for watching!

Thank you so much. My led’s were not working for a long time, but as soon as you mentioned an ir receiver, I just moved the cable. It worked great after that

I'll say these low end led strips have some buggy programming, in my experience of having one. I had a strange experience when I bought one - first one I got home had a loose wire to that IR receiver chip board, and would work intermittently as wires were moved. Brought that right back to the store and exchanged for a second one, and it came with a broken remote control. Like, literally a piece snapped off of it like it was stepped on! Brought that one back and got my third one. Okay... It can get "stuck" in certain modes, like certain colours. Purple sometimes locks it up to need a hard power down to work again. I like the slow colour fade mode, and it can take a dozen presses of the reset button for it to respond to the remote again to change colour or mode or power down. Changing colour between pure red, green, and blue are flawless (far left side buttons) but as you get to blending and mixing them to create the other colours, it likes to seize and need to be reset. Finicky. Cheap! They do make a "smart" led strip this size, and it is far more customizable and programmable. I don't have one of the fancy ones... But this one feels like a secondary rebranded knock off piece of junk!

Thanks. Mine has the wrong battery already in it. A 1220 probably put there by a customer who returned it. Cool product otherwise.
