DO this: (By Chill Lee) Quick tip. If you dont have aluminum tape, remember the contacts are CARBON. Peel the cover off and check if any of the contacts are patchy or wearing out. Take a regular #2 pencil and basically fill in the contact since there is carbon in lead. This should fix the problem easier and cleaner than using aluminum tape. Another solution: (by Thomas Gent) you might also try scraping the contact pads (DON’T DO IT TOO HARD!!) with a paper clip, screwdriver or another sharp object. You can also just try replacing the battery as well. :p Good luck! :)
Dripz Crazy I think we bought it from the same ppl cause legit the exact same thing happened to me except mine changes between 3 ugly ass colors and it does it really fast
First do all the obvious things like checking the cable is connected, remote has battery, voltage etc.. and if your whole remote still isn't working, use a knife to lightly peel up the adhesive on the remote. I fixed mine by removing the adhesive, using IPA to wipe down the board on the inside, I also got some IPA on a cotton tip and very lightly went in a circular motion on the contacts themselves on the adhesive. Putting it back together with a new battery, and it's as good as new :) Please like so people can see this.
just letting you know over two years later you fixed my issue I was having with my remote not working. All I had to do was push on the bottom to make the battery connect. Thank you!
WOW you saved me so much of a headache. I have a similar remote. Used an exacto blade to lift up the button panel and press all the buttons up and thats what got it working. I guess they shipped the remote with multiple buttons collapsed/shorting the remote so nothing ever happened because it was also stuck on multiple buttons. TIP make sure all the buttons are popped up like the little buttons on top of a soda from a drive through. These remotes are very cheap and with the film they are shipped with you might have smashed all the buttons thinking it couldnt be that cheap to be rendered broken that quick. That was the case for me, worked once and now i am here. Thanks !
I've watched a lot of videos trying to fix my remote with now success. This fix worked: I pulled up the strip and cut out one of the buttons I wasn't using. Cut out the bad button and replaced it with the other working button. BOOM. Works perfectly. This button replacement is simple since the whole button cover is sticky so it's very easy to stick the new button in the old spot.
Absolute genius. I used a tiny square of tin foil and a tiny little blob of Blu Tac. One functioning power button again. I had visions of replacing the receiver unit with a new remote.
Thank you! One of my buttons was permanently pressed, causing all the other buttons to not function. Took the cover off and wiped off the circuit board with an alcohol wipe and now it works again
Another way to check if the remote IR is working is to hold it up to your smartphone camera and push any of the buttons, you should see the IR diode flashing through the camera viewfinder on your smartphone screen.
Your video saved my rgb fan remote controller ,, I almost tore it apart luckily I saw your video literally seconds before I did so, and removed the adhesive and replaced it with another. Thanks alot man.
For them of you that didnt get it to work. Unscrew the board from the plastic and pull out on the metal tabs that make contact with the battery. That was my problem but without this guys video I would have tossed in the trash. Just saved my $1.25 lol

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!!!!!! I have been trying to figure this out for over 3-7 months. This is really the first time I actually worked on it hard though. Once again thank you. :)
Not exactly the same problem, but your suggestion led me to the solution. I could see that via camera that my IR constantly was sending signals without pressing any buttons. Somehow there must have been a short circuit. However taking the adhesive off, cleaning it a bit and putting back on already solved my issue. Again thanks for kicking me in the right direction. :)
if you view the remote diode with your camera you can see if the remote works. my remote works but the light is not responding. I tried replacing the ir sensor in the bulb, still nothing. its cheap chinese junk
Yeah, unfortunately we get what we pay for. :/ I usually buy these things knowing that they are not likely to last or stand the test of time. Sometimes, however, i'm pleasantly surprised.
Thanks so much!! A hole punch and some alfoil did the trick for me. My button had a white coating on the back that had worn off the power button. I tried the pencil but no luck. A little alfoil and back to working.
My whole remote isn't working right now and it's making me feel stressful about it because it keeps changing different colors and it won't stop. It's getting so annoying, I don't know if I should change the wires or the battery
guys i promise if it’s a remote issue and you know your lights are working you just have to keep clicking the power button over and over and eventually they will turn on
I had 3 of these remotes as they all stopped working. I found that if you take it apart The problem lies with the battery connectors. These remotes are made so cheaply that the two bits of metal that touch the batteries positive and negative areas are often not touching or touching more than what it should be. I kept all three remotes and and now they’re all working again. I basically took it apart completely and Sellotape it all back up without the plastic casing. I secured the battery in position with Sellotape. It doesn’t look pretty but it works and it saves you a lot of money. All these videos showing people taking it apart because of the buttons and putting it back together again is not the issue. It just so happens that when you take it apart put it back together again it only temporary works because the battery connectors are touching again. Overtime it moves and you have the same issue.
When none of my buttons worked I changed the batteries and the battery holder(exchanging both with a different led controller) and tried using a different led light controller which worked and then I switched back to the original and it began working too! Idk why that worked but it did!
where can you get a replacement for the whole remote if the pcb broke or something, the only reason i ask is because i had one and my little brother stepped on it XD
all of you. leave the damn remote alone its fine. the led controller bugs out, to fix leave led controller plugged in usb and disconnect light strip, press red on remote. plug back in and its fixed. white will freeze the unit if it is not on 100% brightness.
Worked for me as well!! Though it had more to do with all the disconnecting / reconnecting while still plugged into power, made me realize I had the prongs the wrong way. Just a light contact when i flipped it around and it lit up. Had to force the prongs in but it worked (so yeah, just because the 4 prongs go in easy doesn't mean you have it the right way, in case anyone else had that assumption)
You might want to take out the panel or side of the tower and aim directly at the light. The remote doesn't have very good range. It worked for me when I placed the remote on top of the tower where the led strip is below it.
Hmmm... that sounds like it could be many things. You could test the remote using a camera to see if the thing is actually sending a signal (hold it up to a digital camera or your cell and look at the screen while pushing the buttons -- ie. you're looking at the led bit on the end you point towards whatever you're turning on/off) if they light up it's good. If its' not lighting up it's something wrong with the unit. Trying checking batteries, they may be in wrong too. Otherwise best guess there would be it's suffering some sort of other defect.
youtubasoarus mine is sending a signal but none of the buttons r like working with the lights like they won't even turn on but the remote is sending a signal
Ok so the remote I got with my led pack didnt work out of the box. My camera didn't see any IR light on the top so i assumed it was the battery. Bought a new battery, and it still doesn't work. My led strip works fine, but it is just stuck on blue, and I can't change anything. Only on/off I have is plugging in/out. Is the remote completely busted?v
Sounds faulty yeah. But did you try flipping the battery around the other way? Also there may be a shipping tab in the battery compartment that prevents it from working. Ie. they put a plastic tab in the battery area so the battery does not conduct during shipment. Try looking for that, if it's not there then flip the battery and try function testing again.
I had the same problem with a similar remote. I managed to prise it apart and it was the battery contact. I cleaned it and bent it slightly and now it works perfect.
Thanks man, glad you like these! It felt good to do some more repair stuff (ie. something useful lol). Hope to do more if I can figure out what to make a vid about. Thanks for the comment. :)
Hi! My remote is kinda working but the 4 buttons on the 1st row won’t work. The lights are working but I have to unplug it to turn it off. Any solutions?
I checked whether or not the buttons were working by pointing a camera at the IR LED and seeing it light up. All buttons except on/off work. Would this be the battery? it reads 3.01v
mine fell down so i spent lots of time putting them back up with gorilla tape, this worked but not they wont turn on the flick when ever I plug them in but idk

My remote is markedCR2025 on back and when I pull out the battery there is a smaller CR1220. Is that normal (battery marked on case that is different than the one in the remote?
I have one for a bluetooth/USB/FM/SD module and the buttons 0,4,5,6,8,EQ button isnt working.Im still figuring out if would fix it,or just buy a brand new remote with the exact same type.
I dropped the remote and the battery was unlocked and it broke now i cant insert a battery to use the remote is there a way to change it using my PC or do i have to buy a new remote?
I don't think that would work because the aluminum piece would float in between and cause it to activate when you didn't want it to. If it's adhered to the dome like structure it pulls back up off the pad and only activates when needed. You might try it though, could be an option. I'd just recommend some sort of adhesive on the backside (button side, not pad side) to keep it from falling back down.
I just bought a Logisys RGB LED kit for my computer and installed it. The lights came on after some plugging and unplugging of the various connectors so get them to be the same color. However, the remote will not control the lights at all. As suggested above, i turned on my Xbox One and went into the Kinect settings and switched to IR mode and pointed the remote at the lens and pressed buttons and i can see the remote is putting out a small flash of light. It just won't control the led box inside my case. Any thoughts?
Not sure there. The cost that these things are manufactured at it's hard to figure which component is wonky. Could be the receiver, could be the remote. Could be the chip that interprets the signal. So many things can go wrong. I'd try starting with on/off with the remote and see if you can get that to work. Make sure the IR receiver is visible to the remote. If it doesn't work but is sending as you say, then there's a million things it could be. Sorry. :/
Not sure brother, you've got to check. Pull the battery and hook it up to a meter and see if it gives you proper voltage. Should be 1.5v. If anything try flipping it the other way.
I appreciate the video but my problem was simply aiming. I didn't know the led was infrared. After that, I just got close and targeted the sensor prong and it works; more or less. Not happy but I guess that's what I get for bottom feeding. Next time RF!!
I think mine is a cheap replica since I got it from China along with a glowing chair box. And it's not just some of the buttons not responding, the buttons are switched up somehow. To put it simply when I click one button another one turns on or doesn't respond at all. Do you have any idea how I could switch them back or where to get a new remote? :(
Hmmm... not sure there. If it was like that out of the box someone may have switched it up before you got it. Otherwise the manufacturer probably doesn't do quality control for shit. That's common with stuff from China for bottom dollar. I'd advise returning it if you can.
Okay, but what do you do when you press red and it gives you purple, you press green and it gives you cyan, and the power button changes it to blue and the app doesn’t work for the colours either?
my lights dont work. my remoter does zip zilch nada right out of box. pulled out plastic tab did what your video said and it doesnt work. light on remote never turns on... help
my whole remote wasnt working so i unplugged cable that connects to the light strip a little and spammed the buttons and prayed to god and somehow it fixed
I've done that before, yeah it's difficult to get out. You'll have to use a flathead screwdriver or something to pry it out while pressing in the tab. Difficult but it works. Also be careful not to hurt yourself.
youtubasoarus does every remote have the chip. The led light remote i have doesnt have a chip and still not turning on. I fixed the battery thimg. Its a mainstays brand garden led ights.
Good to hear you tried it out. But yeah every remote is different. The only reason this seems to be popular is that the remote seems to be a mass sourced item. As in, the manufacturers of those LED products didn't want to make their own and just sourced a generic one. This remote has been used on hundreds if not thousands of consumer electronics. Generally, however, they are always different.
I want to say yes but the power requirements for the strip would be tricky. You'd have to calculate the number of LED's and their wattage to supply it via hard wiring. Too little voltage, you'd get dim LED's, too much and they'd burn up and that'd be the end of that strip. You also run the risk of burning them over time. It's a tricky business these darn LED's.
Help please I have the same remote as him but it only shows red, green, blue and combinations of 2 of these colors The other colors do not work How can I get pink for example? It shows the color on the remote, but when I press the button, it combines 2 colors(red, green or blue).
Yeah, every button worked except the on button. So I pulled it apart to see what was going on and found the issue. If yours isn't lighting you should check the battery first. Flip it and put it back in and see if it works. Test and if that doesn't work check the voltage on the battery cell (if you can). Try a new battery. Otherwise it's fuxxored.
if ur whole remote/the buttons aren’t working, too far from where ur led lights r plugged in. move closer to the plug and press the buttons , you’ll see
mate, im not facing problem with 1 button here, my whole remote isn't working :/
Same here.

Is there an app you could use to change the colors?
Thanks for posting this. Fixed me right up!
Glad to be of help! :)
Can i just change the remote?
Hi, do you notice a chemical smell from that remote like nail polish? I have 2 similar remotes and they both smell like chemical.
YES THANK YOU SO MUCH! EVEN THOUGH I HAD A DIFFERENT REMOTE THIS REALLY WORKED AHHHH
I dropped the remote and the battery was unlocked and it broke now i cant insert a battery to use the remote is there a way to change it using my PC or do i have to buy a new remote?
Should be a way to get that remote working. They're pretty hard to break.
can you just use alluminuim foli and then just glue it on the part that is broken?
I don't think that would work because the aluminum piece would float in between and cause it to activate when you didn't want it to. If it's adhered to the dome like structure it pulls back up off the pad and only activates when needed. You might try it though, could be an option. I'd just recommend some sort of adhesive on the backside (button side, not pad side) to keep it from falling back down.
ok my mam said if it doesnt work she is giving it back to to ebay seller
LemonYT i just tried this and it worked !!!! make sure the tin foils sticks to the adhesive that is on the pad you take off!!! i'm so happy !
God The All Mighty i was gonna ask the same question but this saved me time thank you
UPDATE: Didnt work :(
Where do u buy the battery becuz when I opened mine it didn’t have that circle thing
Would foil work
how to you open the battery ? Do I just have to press or rip it out?
Push the clip sideways and pull. There is a tab there. It's kinda tricky.
Sorry. :/
No worries! I just did what I should have done in the first place: ordered an NZXT Hue+! Thanks for the speedy response!
My remote doesnt even turn it on. Please help. Is it the battery or..?
Not sure brother, you've got to check. Pull the battery and hook it up to a meter and see if it gives you proper voltage. Should be 1.5v. If anything try flipping it the other way.
Nice video thx! Works also with some aluminium foil and some glue. Like MacGyver ;)
I appreciate the video but my problem was simply aiming. I didn't know the led was infrared. After that, I just got close and targeted the sensor prong and it works; more or less. Not happy but I guess that's what I get for bottom feeding. Next time RF!!
Raymond Rogers thanks mate just get close to the dam light then wowla lol thanks again lol was gonna smash the remote
holy shit this worked for me too im retarted hahahahah ah
I think mine is a cheap replica since I got it from China along with a glowing chair box. And it's not just some of the buttons not responding, the buttons are switched up somehow. To put it simply when I click one button another one turns on or doesn't respond at all. Do you have any idea how I could switch them back or where to get a new remote? :(
Hmmm... not sure there. If it was like that out of the box someone may have switched it up before you got it. Otherwise the manufacturer probably doesn't do quality control for shit. That's common with stuff from China for bottom dollar. I'd advise returning it if you can.
Mine was the battery but all i did was that i saw some little dust in it so o cleaned it and now it works
Lights no longer turn off :(
What’s the name of the tape
Okay, but what do you do when you press red and it gives you purple, you press green and it gives you cyan, and the power button changes it to blue and the app doesn’t work for the colours either?
my lights dont work. my remoter does zip zilch nada right out of box. pulled out plastic tab did what your video said and it doesnt work. light on remote never turns on... help
Will aluminum foil work?
sweet.. I will keep that in mind for later down the road. the receiver was just being pissy on mine.
my whole remote wasnt working so i unplugged cable that connects to the light strip a little and spammed the buttons and prayed to god and somehow it fixed
Mine is working when I come deep close to bulp, but it is not working when I am away from it. What should I do?
Could I glue a bit of tun foil on it instead it looks more or less the same
I habe auch 44 Key Controller and all white buttons dont work why? Need help !
A few of the colors on mine stop working along with the oof button and the diys pls help
What if i put in the square thing for the battery in backwards? Its stuck and idk how to get it out.
I've done that before, yeah it's difficult to get out. You'll have to use a flathead screwdriver or something to pry it out while pressing in the tab. Difficult but it works. Also be careful not to hurt yourself.
youtubasoarus thank you! Ill try it now.
youtubasoarus does every remote have the chip.
Generally, however, they are always different.
aluminum foil?
So I've lost the little USB adapter that powers the LED strip. Any way of hardwiring an ild USB cable to make it work.
Help please
I have the same remote as him but it only shows red, green, blue and combinations of 2 of these colors
The other colors do not work
How can I get pink for example? It shows the color on the remote, but when I press the button, it combines 2 colors(red, green or blue).
I bought my led light yesterday and i tied it but they didn’t work what should i do ?
Holy shit this works thank u put I didn’t have tape so what I did was just place my finger on each one
Was your light on your remote lighting up before you fixed it? Mine isn't.
Otherwise it's fuxxored.
my led remote never worked. What should i do? BTW i tryed a new battery
But how do you sync the remote?
Thank youuuu I used aluminum foil and it works nowwwww
if ur whole remote/the buttons aren’t working, too far from where ur led lights r plugged in. move closer to the plug and press the buttons , you’ll see
My red light is not working what do I do?
If you use a cr2032 battery rather than the cr2025 it requires, could that cause the remote to not work? Someone please answer me, thanks
