Lambo will win the 1/4 mile because faster top speed and less rolling resistance on the glue, BUT the X-01 will beat it in maybe a 1/8 mile?

Hey Kev make sure that the TSM is turned on, it will keep that car totally straight and it doesn't effect the throttle at all, just does steering input.

Stand in the middle of where you start the race and finish it the tqi controller will work that's how I do my speed runs

Could you use an airplane receiver for the range. Plane receivers can go really far, but I don’t know if they are compatible
They go that far because the plane is in the air other then that the transmission power is still at the same 100mw limit
Stick some wings on it and see how much air it will get at 100 mph!

That deflector under the wheel (I think) moves air around the front tyre and pens in the turbulent tyre wake that would harm the diffuser.

You need to find a fresh paved road with supper smooth concrete or asphalt for a proper test. Even a nice big pond with flat ice in the winter.

Diffuser may be of interest? 100 mph air under the car front to rear will lift the weight of the car up off the suspension. We call it "floating." Makes the steering get sketchy. It does this with real cars as well. Diffuser simply is series of fins under the car to break up the air redirecting it left/right etc. Diffuser isn't the end all fix,but a great aid.
Its going to be very difficult to see that little car from .25 mile away.
You will need a copilot to drive the rc car.

The X-01 is an absolute beast... Even with the tall gearing this thing spins out... breaks traction... and becomes two hands full... yeah might not buy one hey... probably take my own head off with it... yikes!! Good work Kev and Pat!! Always fun watching you two!!

Here's a suggestion for the transmitter range problem... just let Pat drive the XO-1 from the passenger seat in the Lamborghini. They should be close to each other on the track therefore really close for good transmitter reception. Good luck guys and keep it safe.

Those ridges in the front splitter that curve back and point at the tires is to use the wind to blow any debris away from the path of the tires.

Kevin. A few suggestions. If you get a fine white ink pen and mark the tires LF LR RC RR, then you'll never get them mixed up again.
Also you can gain stability by raising the rear of the car and if possible lower the front, but you'll have to do this bit by bit.
PS. Try warming up the tires.

i think those things under the splitter/bumper is there to direct air away from the wheel so it doesn't slow you down

Have you thought about adding the traxxas GPS module? I have one on my udr and it is pretty accurate and reliable.

Make sure you point the transmitter like you are shooting the car to get the best range. The antenna is in the smooth plastic area and shoots like a beam.

schon74 ya it will slow down the Rc car for sure I do drag racing and if you step on the track and your shoes aren’t super tight they stick on the track and your foot comes right out
X-01 is also the best power armor in the fallout universe
Traxxas radios are directional, you get better range pointing the radio at the car

Fag paper folded once , stick in between gear mesh , squeeze motor against spur with decent pressure , tighten down .. Roll the spur the remove the paper after ! Never failed me. Not once ever stripped a spur or pinion !

Would a steering stability system help keep it in line?
Just take it to a drag strip on a not busy time. You will have much smoother surface and (more importantly) width separation between the lanes.
This is going to be a great test. So xited to see whats going to happen.
