This is the best informational video out there for anything. Not some annoying gamer that talks for 15 mins straight that shows the same 30 sec clip 5 different times in between him ranting the same paragraph 30 different ways
I experimented with combos myself and agree with spear combos LLHL DH and dagger (duh!) but with sword I like LHHLL instead of LHLLL and both DL and DH are viable. For Heavy blade I like LHHH instead of LHLH. Heavies are more powerful and 3rd heavy is almost as fast as 3rd light for either of those weapons. Besides heavy blade 3rd H has better reach than 3rd L. Those things were so obvious, that I'm thinking maybe patch changed those things since 9 months ago?
Forgot to thank you after all these years. This video was my reference guide to making the most out of my combos. Swords, daggers, heavy blunts and spears for single target then the rest for fighting crowds. The heavy blade moveset is one of my favorites, it's so crunchy and devastating
*My channel needs your support on Patreon and if just a fraction of you gave $1, it would help immensely❗* Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is not the deepest combat ever but I always enjoy when there is that hidden layer to uncover that the more casual audience might not ever notice. I like how you can mix and match your light and heavy attacks to avoid certain moves, cancel out of attacks, and make custom attack strings. Also, I mention playing on hard or higher because - normal- in this game feels far too easy and you don’t really need to utilize tactics like this. Bump up the challenge and now you have a pretty good open world action RPG, instead of a more traditional “Assassins Creed” game where you’re kind of just going through the motions. Enjoy!
one thing I would note as well is that they added with the combat combos where you get more damage now for finishers almost double if not tripled the damage of a finisher if you mix it up. So say you start with light and change into heavy finisher combo or start with heavy and change into light combo you will do insane finisher damage now. I use sword and daggers mostly and dagger light finisher can hit insane amount if you heavy into light combo and not just infinite it. A lot of times mobs can be at full health and get the end of the finisher and it one shot them its really good. And great for chunking boss health as well. Great detailed video love it !
This is what I'm trying to find more specific info on. I cant figure out what I'm supposed to do to actually achieve these finishers depending on weapon. I just kind of stumble into them now and then.
This is exactly what I was hoping to find for this game, thanks. Would love to see an advanced version with what ability combos work best with what weapons. What weapon traits work best with what abilities. What weapons work best against what enemy types, etc. Good stuff, thanks again for the break down.
Dang. Picked this game up for the first time a week ago. This is the best explanation video I've seen so far. A little disappointed you don't have more on the beautiful game on your channel.
I love using the staff, it's a shame the game doesn't have any really good legendary ones. I like the Staff of Dikastes the most probably, if only one of the perks wasn't that damage becomes stunt.
I have been having a lot more fun using combos I made up instead of just mashing out light attack and i'm glad your rewarded by not doing that since these custom combos are just flat out better in some ways.
Without going into combo types and all, my usual choices are - Heavy Blades: personal favourite, I use it as long as it works! - Spear, a lot of thrust attack + a few heavy swipes: when I fight against 1 "boss" and a few soldiers. - Heavy Blunt, slow but massive dmg in large swipes: I use it during battles, sometimes boarding actions. Combine it whith fire dmg+ and its amazing. - Dagger, a lot of dps, often good assassin dmg buff: i use it during infiltration. Often you can just use it to quickly finish the job when the take down dmg wasn't enough. - Sword: honestly I don't use it often, sometimes when the buffs or the skin are nice. - Staff: I almost never use it but I should try it. - Bare fists: Weirdly I use it a lot. It's fun, good dmg, no kill=no bounty, dodging/parrying is easier.
Yea I feel like since this is such a mainstream series, normal feels more like a traditional easy, and hard feels like an intended normal challenge. Especially with the bounty system.
amazing video, the game doesn't explain this as it does in say ACII when u have to hit eat contact you make to create a combo chain. This video Is awesome! Thanks So Much for taking the time to create it :)
The weapon master ability when leveled up to lvl 3 will also give you a damage boost when you mix up your light and heavy attacks, making these combos even better.
Yeah this is what i need in nightmare mode! Lvl 34 now, with fully warrior/assasin build (hunter build feels pretty op but it'll get boring after awhile)
Combo for crazy damage: u need sword and dagger then use the dagger overpower attack then hero strike lastly when the enemy gets up do a bit of click attacks then sword overpower attack. It’s op as heck ngl
The first time I explored the open world in AC Odyssey, it was a true unique experience. I can appreciate how much the devs have worked on the world detail while keeping things historically accurate. Every major city has a different feel and look to it. I forgive Ubisoft for the terrible voice acting and cut scenes, because what they have presented here is an open world RPG that is better than anything that has come out of Bethesda, Bioware or the other RPG giants. Combat is brutal, exploration is exhilarating, story is engrossing. This is the first AC game that I have truly enjoyed after revelations and black flag. Please give it a go, but dont come into the game with an assumption that this is an AC game, treat it as an RPG. I would dare say, Odyssey is on par with Witcher 3 in terms of capturing the RPG experience, but from another perspective. I hope Ubisoft uses this engine to craft a beautiful open world Prince of Persia game, I can only imagine how epic the time manipulation skills would be on such a game engine.
Really awesome video Boomstick! I found your video on Reddit about that case with IGN editor, anyways just wanted to say really nice channel and I like your voice over sounds really crisp. Totally joining your Gang bro 😃👊
Imagine if ubisoft tried to make new IP with alterantive ancient history ( legends/mythics/supernatural stuff) with fixed loot ( similiar to Dark Souls) and combat similiar to this but sliced little with the DMC combo/rating style
I swear some of the staff moves, especially the slam down is from Shaolin Kung Fu forms. Just look at Kilik in Soul Calibur! Also the spear finishers (and the fighting in AC:Origins) also looks like it takes influence from wushu. The spear in Odyssey now looks more accurate to the fighting style of Greeks with more thrusting moves.
Chi-Yin and William: chilliam00 hopefully they are seriously considering making an assasins creed feudal Japan era, maybe the addition of a staff was just an experiment for future games?
I am at 10 hours in and have only done like 10 percent of the map.. I prob won't even finish this game till November so you might want to check out another reviewer for this one. ACG has a good review out.
I see a lot of soldiers using some kick moves, like the roundhouse ('un-parry-ble' red glow) kick... so i try some long weapons like spears too see if my 'character' would do the same. From what i saw in the video that's not case... am i right? *some soldiers using swords can do some moves that you can't either ... like an awesome diving/grabbing move . .
At initial glance, kind of.. it suffers from the same amounts of repetition but the focus more on exploration and RPG mechanics, along with a much better combat system than Origins (not perfect however) has made this the only Assassins Creed game I have really enjoyed since AC 2.
I hope the next assassins creed game takes the best parts out of every AC game and puts it in one. I like the game being a rpg but I’d like it online and also assassins creed 3 fighting. The fighting in this and origins are so plain.
What is the best controller for AC? I use keyboard and mouse on PC and it's often hard to find the key I want to press... especially the 3 keys for light/parry/heavy attack
Idk if you covered it in this video but I see people doing something with a in think heavy bladed weapon where they like hit some one and then throw them away. Any idea how or what weapon?
I literally cant find a single place online that takes about the extra damage finishers and what combination of inputs you need for them per weapon. Nowhere. This mechanic exists in the game and is super powerful but I cant figure it out on my own.
*Timestamps by Weapon Type*
0:29 - Heavy Blunt
1:28 - Sword
2:13 - Spear
3:09 - Heavy Bladed
3:57 - Dagger
4:42 - Staff
Thanks

Heavy Blunt
HDLLH(DH)
Sword
LHLLLDH
Spear
LLHLDH
DLLHLDH
Heavy Blade
LHLHDH
Dagger
HLLLH
Staff

SUPER useful! I knew going into the comments section that someone must have done this :D
I experimented with combos myself and agree with spear combos LLHL DH and dagger (duh!) but with sword I like LHHLL instead of LHLLL and both DL and DH are viable.
For Heavy blade I like LHHH instead of LHLH.

Just wondering, what kind of weapon like skyrim one handed?
Forgot to thank you after all these years. This video was my reference guide to making the most out of my combos. Swords, daggers, heavy blunts and spears for single target then the rest for fighting crowds. The heavy blade moveset is one of my favorites, it's so crunchy and devastating

I just started playing Odyssey and this guide is exactly what I was looking for, thanks for posting it.
I loved this video. A new player corona 2020 here, wish more guides were this informative and straight forward
I actually liked your video Voice and explanations. Good job man. Keep it up
Thank you so much for this 👍🏾 👊🏾 playing this for the very first time ever and I am just really enjoying and getting lost in the journey 😊
Very very great tips video 👍
2022 this game is dope haven't played an AC game since Black Flag this $15 bundle was well worth it.
This is a bit late but
Dude you're awesome
Thanks a lot

Best thing about the game is the music

Very useful video 👍
Thank you for making this video! I really appreciate these kinds of deeper insights into the game to gain greater mastery.
Love the videos all info and no filler keep up the great work. Currently playing and enjoying ACO. About to check out these combos.
I have been having a lot more fun using combos I made up instead of just mashing out light attack and i'm glad your rewarded by not doing that since these custom combos are just flat out better in some ways.
Thanks so much!
Very useful and interesting video. Good suggestions!
Great insightful commentary....having put 200+ hours into this game got to learn something new

Watched your video, then went straight to steam to buy Odyssey.
You have done a great job with this guide!
Dude great video. and thanks for the enlightenment on the difficulty
Yea I feel like since this is such a mainstream series, normal feels more like a traditional easy, and hard feels like an intended normal challenge. Especially with the bounty system.
Boomstick Gaming hi I know this is pretty old but can u show all overpowered attack
Plenty of videos now exist with that. Search: PowerPyx, they have a pretty good video that shows them all off.
amazing video, the game doesn't explain this as it does in say ACII when u have to hit eat contact you make to create a combo chain. This video Is awesome! Thanks So Much for taking the time to create it :)
Thanks! I had no idea about this.👍
this is insane man ! I though the game was just spamming melee attack lol
The only issue I can see is that the Dodge+atk at the end removes the Weapon Mastery Talent's bonus damage at the end of a mixed combo
Great overview, the depth is very much appreciated.
Nice video bro, didnt even know all these combos!
fist weapons would be a cool addition
You have em.
Daggers already have the reach of fist weapons
you can unequip your weapons and use your fists. the story forces you to do that twice.
Exactly what I was looking for thankyou.
Very informative video. Thank you very much sir
i play it with keyboard and mouse, do i have to tap any other key to do heavy and charge attack. or it is autonomous
Dude u video is awesome ~
Good stuff!!
So much valuable content. Subscribed
You can also use the counter to cancel into an attack or evasion. It doesn't look as fluid but its another trick to use.
sneakyqueixada that’s what he just said in the video
This is a great video thank you
Thanks. Its very helpful
Still one of the best games on the past 3 years
Amazing
Big thanks to you. I reach level 30 and don't even do that kind of combos 🤣 now I'm getting more hype with this game
The weapon master ability when leveled up to lvl 3 will also give you a damage boost when you mix up your light and heavy attacks, making these combos even better.
that first heavy weapon was a spatula?
haha it does kinda look like that
For making giant campfire burgers.. mmm 🍔
@@zoeminister No it's for making krabby patties

wait you are that boom stick gaming guy, i thought i had already subbed to you. for some reason i had the subscribe button again.
Yeah this is what i need in nightmare mode! Lvl 34 now, with fully warrior/assasin build (hunter build feels pretty op but it'll get boring after awhile)
Go for some builds and videos from t7 pdm then you'll get the feeling of beeing op
Combo for crazy damage: u need sword and dagger then use the dagger overpower attack then hero strike lastly when the enemy gets up do a bit of click attacks then sword overpower attack. It’s op as heck ngl
Thanks for the sword and spear combo!
Great

You earned my sub
sweet!
Nice guide for a stunning game!
I just started the game , using a spear, side steping and using heavy attack. It perma stagger all enemies so far. Hoping the combat gets better soon.
Great video!
Imagine seeing Kratos do all this stuff in his own way when he was a spartan warrior.
Imagine if ubisoft tried to make new IP with alterantive ancient history ( legends/mythics/supernatural stuff) with fixed loot ( similiar to Dark Souls) and combat similiar to this but sliced little with the DMC combo/rating style

I'm kind of glad IGN plagiarized your video, I really wouldn't have found your channel otherwise, and you have excellent content
I love you man
This is really useful! A chart would be great to have.
I didn't think AC Odyssey had any other weapons than just dual sword, I might have to check it out. Looks interesting.
So should we expect to see a full review for the game from you? Looking forward to one!
I am at 10 hours in and have only done like 10 percent of the map.. I prob won't even finish this game till November so you might want to check out another reviewer for this one. ACG has a good review out.
Long swords or two handed sword would have been great tho.
Excellent video...
1:49 This charge attack makes no sense, How did the character switch sword grips?! (Check at 1:50 the difference of how the sword was handled)
I use my heavy Bladed/blunted weapons as secondaries, for Like the last 3 final blows . They kills for them are so Tuff
Exelente Video
To send an enemy back or to perform that final epic kill scene with dagger just end the combo chain with light attacks
1:18 Is it Kassandra sound or the misthios?
Would you please make a video for Origins too, thanks.
Thank you.
Welcome
A sword guy here! ✌
I used the sword and spear only and loved playing this game
I see a lot of soldiers using some kick moves, like the roundhouse ('un-parry-ble' red glow) kick... so i try some long weapons like spears too see if my 'character' would do the same.

*some soldiers using swords can do some moves that you can't either ... like an awesome diving/grabbing move .

heavy blunt is so hard to use sometimes
How do you throw daggers?
In ac origins i found that the spear was perfect for me. It was fast n could hit multiple enemies n ofcourse a high reach.
What are the controller button patteren to do a heavy counter attack? anyone know please?😊
First Comment. Very Nice Video. What are your thoughts that Odyssey is the same as origin?
At initial glance, kind of.. it suffers from the same amounts of repetition but the focus more on exploration and RPG mechanics, along with a much better combat system than Origins (not perfect however) has made this the only Assassins Creed game I have really enjoyed since AC 2.
@Boomstick Gaming Great video! What music is playing during the last 20 seconds of the vid? It sounds familiar, but I can't place it :/
Amazing Video. I've been liking the heavy edged weapons, and daggers a lot. In your opinion what's the best weapon type?
Spears and swords
One word:
Quality
I hope the next assassins creed game takes the best parts out of every AC game and puts it in one. I like the game being a rpg but I’d like it online and also assassins creed 3 fighting. The fighting in this and origins are so plain.
What is the best controller for AC?

Get xbox joystick dude, more enjoyable
What are the input buttons for finishing moves
Ma gee your console is soooo SMOOOOOTH
Does someone know how to do a chargd heavy attack on pc??
I don't know how to do this in pc or did i miss out on the tutorial
Idk if you covered it in this video but I see people doing something with a in think heavy bladed weapon where they like hit some one and then throw them away. Any idea how or what weapon?

I haven't played this game yet...is it possible to hold light attack like in AC Origins?
I prefer an axe or a dagger
I went hellfire warrior build and my sword does 107k to 120k damage per hit now
