I picked up a ms. pac-man 1up last year... sure it was fun for a while but most of my time was spent on ms. pac and pac-mania, I wasn't as crazy about pac-man plus or galaxian. so I've kinda been looking into these modification kits and recently came across this one. they sell the deck by itself for 170 and that's really all I need, I have a playstation classic I modded and would likely work in place of a retropie, I'd assume. especially since my wife has gotten interested in retro arcade shooters (hooked her on raiden 4 on switch) so this would turn it into our dream machine for sure!

Any way you can provide link to a list of games? Does it have "The Grid" where you use a roller and joystick to control a character and fight other characters?
Obviously some quality construction on this upgrade panel, BUT... the fact that they cut the player start buttons into the Midway logo puts my OCD in overdrive! Also, the "10,000 games" for only $500. Of course it sounds like a great deal; these are pirated/unlicensed ROMs. No contracts were signed with the game rights holders, no legal royalties were paid, no copyright was honored.
Is there an Arcade classics games list available? Not too interested in the consoles but the real arcade games. Popeye, Donkey Kong,, Mario Bros and Food Fight were some of my favorites. Are they there? Also, wondering if there is a two player version also with a trackball reasonably placed so that the 1 player stick is not far off to the left.
Thank you so much for watching! I don’t know about a list, but there are almost 2700 “arcade classics”. I’d reach out to Upgrade Arcade about the trackball
@@studiodeepdive6165 How does licensing work with that? Are we playing, for example, a legal version of Donkey Kong? My understanding has been for years that Nintendo did not license these roms, and that the end user needed to find and install them. What is the case here?
Hey man!! You mentioned not modding the Simpson’s cab... I only have room for one in my apartment but I think the Simpson’s will be the winner. However, my concern is that it only comes with two games-albeit two solid games. Arcade mod up doesn’t have a Simpson’s control panel, but would you recommend waiting on one to release so I can play thousands of other games or is there a specific reason for not modding the Simpson’s cab? Thanks brotha!!
My reason was purely nostalgic. I have more love for the simpsons Arcade than nba jam so I didn’t mind changing anything on it. I would reach out to Upgrade Arcade and ask if they can do a Simpsons decal. Also see about a track ball because mine doesn’t have one. I agree that this is convenient. It's for people who can so this on their own or just do not want to. You can't really compare this directly to an Arcade 1UP in terms of pricing. Yes, the Arcade 1Up has a handful of games, but the have to licence them. These guys, just like all the Pandora's Box you can find online, just take roms from the internet and slap them in a product. They have no licensing, because it's piracy. At least, they seem to give good support, something you won't get with a Pandora's box. Great video BTW.

Part of that might be due to the fact that I was filming from a level tripod at a slanted screen. This was not screen captured, it’s just a camera pointed at the cab
Great video... but no disrespect to your video but why would update an arcade1up when you can get an legend ultimate which have better controllers, buttons and have a bigger screen! In my opinion this mod is a waste of money! Arcade1up shouldnt be multicab because that wasnt the purpose of this item! Before you consider this mod everyone, look at all options first before deciding to mod an arcade1up...
As someone who owns both Arcade1up and Legends hardware, I am tending to agree. I love the replica theme of the Arcade1up hardware. And I originally bought a Tempest cab (which features both a spinner and trackball) and a Defender (featuring a "fighter" set) cab specifically for the breadth of controls the pair offered together. It was my intent to mod both of them and load them each with the games specific to their controls. But before I could make those mods, I picked up an Atari single player control box, the one with the retro wood box and a complete control set including joystick, 8 buttons, spinner, and trackball. (I couldn't pass up the $70 open box buy for a product that normally retails for $200.) I loved it. Plays everything other than the exotic specialty games. Anyway, it taught me that there's a big difference between a "nostalgia" machine and a "play everything" machine. I don't get a lot of nostalgia from my Legends machine; I get a crap load of games, including all of my favorites from 79-83 (I was Class of 84 and worked in an arcade/theatre/icecream parlor during those years), but the majority of which aren't terribly good. The Arcade1ups, however, really tick the nostalgia box. Are they 100% authentic? Of course not! But how practical is it to have a single, 400lb, CRT-display PacMan machine in their home in 2022? We have three basic setups in our arcade: un-modded Arcade1ups, various Legends with the add-ons (including CoinOpsX), and custom MAME setups with game-specific controls (like dual shooter sticks for Battlezone and Robotron). The custom setups are actually my favorite to play. My first one consisted of an abandoned wooden TV cart. Painted it black with flourescent game icons and built the LED controls directly into the top. Powered by a thrift store computer from the XP era. Two options for display: a 32" vertical monitor (yep, vertical!) or the internal (and also vertical) projector. I use the vertical cabinet reproductions that look fabulous. The monitors are commonly less than ten bucks at our local thrift store, making the entire investment about a $150. So yes, I agree that, while it's certainly possible to mode an Arcade1up machine, there might be better options elsewhere. My next project will be a "PacMan Party Table", which will use three partycades (PacMan, Ms PacMan, and Super PacMan) in a triangle and mounted on a PacMan-theme round table. Picked up each for under a hundred bucks, and we'll find a table at the thrift store for about $20. It's fun making your own stuff!
