Lol. I did a lot of these mods off my own brain. Totally worth it guys. Im on the hunt for new ideas, especially marquee lighting. Adding stereo sound is easy and worth it. Do it! And LED lighting. Coin slot is cool, but not worth it unless you make it work which isnt impossible. And now.....im getting into this video and seeing he's covering all this! Im still gonna post. Mod on peeps! Its a lot of fun!

I ordered some dust protecting discs that sit at the base of the joysticks. It looks really sharp and cool if not authentic. Instead of those plain black discs, I have nuclear bomb warning sign discs.
I wanna see if its possible to run two cabinets off of one pi for 2 screen 4 player action. I think thats all thats left for crazy mods at this point haha
Has anyone tried recreating the 'floating screen' effect of the original Space Invaders cabinets? Seems like there's a lot of room inside these things so the big trick would be flopping the image on the display.

@@BrandonPinoyEvans My TMNT cab is the same way. I had to push down on the front part of the control deck to get the screws to seat in. I'm worried if I had these washer it will be the same story all over again.
Zane Ramos I don't know if there is one, but it's simple. That was my first mount idea. Amps have left and right speaker outs. You can add a second channel by drilling some descrete holes in the top of the cab and drill mount a speaker in the cab. It works. Just look at the built in one. It will make sense.
dave helmig did a damn fine job and im glad you found the video. you could add an hdmi splitter to the set up and an hdmi pass through and get your cab on the big screen 🤔
I think my favorite mod would be the lights! That alone just adds a new layer/ or feel, to an already awesome retro project. Reminiscent of the old school arcades for sure!

Got mine coming in today! Will do a retro pie mod for sure. Like that spinner mod for Tempest that Glenn did on his show, so I may try that at some point too. Just going to enjoy it for now as I get parts to do the retro pie mod. Love the fridge mod, great way to use the empty space and save floor space at the same time.

2:27 the first thing i did was add a shelve. 4:58 double coins slot with quarters mechanic is $50 at shop.xgaming.com you can get just the door for cheaper. but xgaming made the best steel door it even comes with red leds. i want to replace the back cover with plexglass but I cant safely drills holes into the plexyglass. i was told to use stepper drill, but i have no success with any yet.
Turned my cabinet To multia arcade using raspberry. Also changed the buttons To Led buttons And Also swapped the joysticks To better ones. At some point i Will probably install New speakers To it.
speakers are really easy. you can get an amp to connect to headphone jack of video adapter that will plug into any old surround speakers or find some old computer speakers that have power built in. i used 2 sided tape and put them inside on the bottom, plenty of sound.
You should check out TheDanielSpies channel, he's got some amazing mods on his 4 player setup. Has a fridge in the bottom, cup holders for each player, an El Gato stream deck on the joystick console, a trackball and flight stick, his marquee is an actual ultrawide LCD screen. He's definitely put a lot of time into his set up.
So many ideas man, and so far the community that is growing for these modded machines are pretty cool folks that share ideas and are cool towards eachother. My favorite mod so far was adding a amazon echo dot to use Alexa to turn mh cabinets on or off using voice commands. Its very helpful for me being disabled its not easy getting around or bending in akward spaces to hit a power switch so just being able to say Hey Alexa turn on Street Fighter and bam I transform into Ken Masters and whoop butt on Blanka etc. Really made it better for me at any rate.
I like the addition of the shelf idea too because it would really assist in making the cab more sturdier too. Plus mounting stuff would be way better. I got the Street Fighter Art and The Mortal Kombat Art so far from that Arcadegraphix place, have not installed them yet but man they look amazing. I am debating on doing graphics for my Rampage though I like the one they offer but after I did that green tape trick it kind of grew on me. I got that g box the guy has in that mario cab too but tbh I like the nvidea shield better it works really good and connects with my pc so I can connect all my Steam games onto the cabinet.
Great vid, but I disagree about adding different colored tape, as it gives an arcade cabinet a cheap and non-retro look. Suggestion is to cut the groove yourself, before assembly, and buy real 1/2 inch tee molding.

I just picked up a SF2 Arcade1Up on sale at Wallyworld and man I have been in daydream/RUclips (hell?) lol. I have so many ideas. One thing I am thinking on doing is I have a HDMI switcher and USB switcher. I like the idea of hooking a switch to this and if I could switch video and USB to the switch taht would be awesome.

I was laying my mortal kombat arcade 1up last light and the power box burnt the wire burnt thru the plastic so iam gonna pay 500 to mod it led buttons 20,000 games mame and new speakers with amp headphones jack
Ok so after looking at these arcades they arent worth it u buy it for 300 bucks spend 300 bucks to make it playable.... no ty i made one for 300 bucks and it came out good
Better off buying a full size arcade cabinet instead. Shouldn't have to spend $300 and have to upgrade joysticks and buttons. Not like decent ones see that expensive, should have been done in the first place since they would get a bulk discount.

@@kingpremo5207 - You can, but the pan heads are more rounded and look better IMO. Gives the whole thing a "dome" look to it.

Your local hardware store sells the #10 recessed washers
