My older brother just bought a Arcade1up Marvel vs Capcom 2 cabinet, and it’s got me contemplating putting my 18 years of construction experience into building something like this.
Ever start? I'm planning to make one with my older TV. Going to make the tv tiltable to double as an entertainment stand. Probably router in drop in controller holes so I can grab them if I feel like playing from the couch.

The cabinet is fantastic. The only thing I might have change was player one buttons and joystick colors to red that way it would not only different the players side but also represented Liu Kang's red and blue fire dragon sides. But either way the cabinet is absolutely awesome.
This takes me back. Used to work at a vending company in a warehouse tearing down old games, building new ones, redoing all the joysticks and buttons, and replacing all the art on the cabinets and making sure the coin mechanisms worked. My mom owned an arcade through the 80s, and we always had games at home to fix and play nonstop haha.
I love seeing modern fighters getting this type of love in custom arcade units. The FGC is more console based now(for good reason), but it's nice to see these builds because it brings it back to the roots
Mortal Kombat was big when I was at my first year of University of Michigan, also Street Fighter II. The machines were already crowded just as they were back in 1990-91 at the North Campus commons where everyone went to get lunch and hang out in the lounge, arcade area. I can’t imagine what kind of absolute and complete chaos a cabinet as awesome as this one would have created. There would have been REAL physical combat just to get a place in line to play it, It’s just amazing
Awesome cab! I wouldn’t of used the same image of Liu though. I would’ve switched it up and used multiple characters all over the cabinet, and I would add a move list around the top and bottom of the screens bezel like the old skool cab’s use to have back in the day 😎👍✨

If they have Street Fighter 5 cabinets, I wouldn't be surprise if they made a SF 6 Cabinet. As for Mortal Kombat, this would be fire to see it at Round 1 Arcades.

I love that MK1 machine, one of the best I have ever seen, congratulations and thank you very much for continuing to make magic between us. 💙🔥🙏🔥💙
Insanely cool and also with elegance. The buttons and the giant screen, artwork...oh my. The only extra touch I though was to sink the speakers inside the frame an inch or so. Very minor thing though and not an issue per se. You are definitely on the vising list when I get to see TX! Love the stuff you do

@@DOWNTOWNMAK Bad idea for OLED screens to be used as arcade cabinet displays with all those static images like HUD elements. Bad burn in and image retention as well as degradation of the organic substrate. If you've seen a fair share of old arcades, there's a lot of burn in with those old CRTs as well.
There are quite a few companies out there that still make arcades. I live in the Tampa Bay Area, and a new arcade building company started recently. It seems arcades are having a bit of a come back. Our local arcade (Replay Amusement Museum in Tarpon Springs) is very popular and almost always packed. Ours is $14 for a day pass. $8 for kids under 12.
Arcades aren't as dynamic than during the 1990s, especially with how powerful videogame consoles are along with their online capabilities.
