In Blender you can select several objects at the same time and go to edit mode (tab key) select the vertices you want to move and move all the vertices at the same time in a similar way to the one you showed in the video
Blender definitely has a mask feature in the sculpting tool. And definitely has spline selection tool. I am not sure what you do in zbrush (might be what you are specifically asking for) but blender definitely can rotate a selected mask
Well one thing I think blender can do better is using the "Pose tool" in sculpting mode you could make those arms and waist bends way nicer. It has nothing to do with rigs, or armatures, so the name is a bit misleading, when the tool is active you use the radius of the tool to determine how long you want the part to be, and it will have a white line with a dot on the end, the dot is the point at which the bend will happen. it works really well for limbs, tentacles, fingers etc. As mentioned before, select all the parts, make sure the part you want to modify is the active part (it will be yellow-orange colored) and make the modification, I believe the other parts should follow along, but I am not sure if their topology will change with it, if not join all the parts with "Ctrl+J" (in object mode) do the bend, then separate the parts again with the "P" key (while in edit mode), and all the parts will be individual again, this I am positive will make the other parts bend with the Pose tool.
if i plan to pose the thing as a sculpt, and plan to work entirely in blender, ill retopo once i have all my secondary forms done and rig the thing. from there multires to get all that fine detail, pose with low multires in the viewport, render with it applied.
There's definitely ways, none of them are fast or clean though. The fastest method I can think of is using a pre-made rig and automatic weights, this will cause distortion on loose objects of course. But you would be able to apply the armature modifier and make the pose permanent.
Very handy. I usually exported to Blender to pose, but that works super well. Just wish the UI didn't require me to look this video up every time I needed it.
Lol! That's pretty funny... I can totally relate. Many of my zbrush tutorials are for me... meaning I go back to my own video as a reminder of how to do something
Yes blender can do that but with a different workflow just join all and then use pose brush when you are done just separete anerything by parts, that's it, is what the T pose master does basically.
Nope, there's no button to temporarily group and ungroup everything exactly the way it was before. Of course you could simply select the objects and group them manually with Ctrl+J, but to separate everything exactly the way it was before with same names and number of parts would require scripting.
On a side note, maybe you can answer this. I recently got an XP Pen display tablet and it is great for 2D painting apps, but it feels like a lot of lag on Zbrush and Blender. Do you have any tips on what is causing this or how to fix it?
I have only used Wacom tablets and have never experienced this. even with dirt cheap wacoms it's smooth in Blender and Zbrush... I would make sure the drivers are up to date
i use an XP Pen Artist Pro 16 for sculpting in Zbrush and Blender, as well as texture painting in Substance. make sure your program is using the right driver for the pen tablet, i know in Flame Painter if i dont have the right driver set it will lag like hell

Thanks for the info! That's good to know

I think this would be a good series tbh
That's the plan! I have so many questions lol

That's helpful! Thanks Sean!
@@AlHowell No problem.

This is a good idea with auto weights. Thanks!

have you tried multiresolution in blender ive heard you can get high amounts of detail if you use it
I have... I like Multires a lot. But I really wish there was a free auto retopo tool like zremesher. That would would be a great combo with multires
@@AlHowell oh most definitely

I think blender can I'm not sure how it works though
Yes lol
