Cut them all the way down in the fall, no need to leave anything sticking out with possible disease on it.

Thanks for your opinion and visit. However, I have been growing this plant for years and the way I care for it works well for me.
I always proactively treat any fungal issues organically/naturally prior to fall clean-up and cut back.
