I definitely feel as though I am more suited to the 2k than the beep test, mainly because the 2k you can focus in and it becomes more about endurance and will power, whereas the beep test I constantly I am thinking about stride length, foot position for the turn, counting the levels etc. and top end speed has never been my strong suit which really shows on the later levels.
2km is harder than the bleep test. I did the bleep test and finished it (11.6 is the last level at AC) with generally a lot left in the tank at Assessment centre back in August. I think it's easier than the 2k. Could lead to less fit soldiers but idk i ain't In training yet
I think for the majority the bleep test is hard to be honest but I’m guessing there will be people who like the bleep test morning than the 2km
I think this is better for me because I personally am better at the beep test than a full on 2k run. Even though the 2K run is now going, I will still train for it so I am fit.
It’s kind of a shame cos I last practiced my 2km and got exactly 11 minutes and only needed to be a minute faster for infantry standards but I can only get to level 6 with the bleep test from my last practice
I'm in the joining process for army reserve, and I've been told to get 2km run down under ten minutes. They must have brought it back since this video was created.
I think it's now either bleep test or 2k run.
I've not trained for a bleep test though yet,😫
I’m a little bit disappointed but luckily I have access to a sports hall in the regular so looks like it’s the bleep test now as my priority training ! Let’s smash it 👌
Positivity is the key mate 👊 get it done
Thanks for the update. How long did it take you to run 2km under 8 minutes? You are killing it.
I’m not sure, ever since they started doing 2km instead of a 2.4kM (1.5 mile) I’ve been able to get sub 7:30.
When I was in the army I used to get around 08:30 on a 1.5 mile run so it was an easy transition when they changed to the 1.2 mile run.
I have been training now for probably close to 10 years, on and off running, so I tend to stay around this fitness level.
@@KyleSmithFIT cool. Also been running actively for 3 months and my time was 9 minutes 2km. Got a partial tear in my foot so im out for 5 weeks. I'll just start again. Thanks for the info
Did my selection last Thursday, and I did a bleep test
Awesome, passed I hope 🤞
It sucks. I went for para at my AC easily scored at home 8 mins/ under on the 2k
But the AC was the bleep test scored 10.4 just can't get to 11.6.
I think it's really unfair
Yeah I agree mate it’s unfair as the bleep test is very difficult at them levels. 2km 8 mins is not on par with 11.6
@@KyleSmithFIT fully agree it's not fair test. Comparing the 2k and bleep test gutted af
Mate. It was the exact same for me. I smashed the 2k 8 min time before. Then the bleep test came unexpectedly at AC and I got level 9. Took me few months to pluck the balls up to redo it and eventually scrape the para bleep test requirement time to move onto PRAC.
@@Ty-qv3ml good effort mate, now the hard work starts 🤣👊
@@KyleSmithFIT haha yeah those months where a grind, 11.6 is no joke
Hi is this confirmed now that the 2km with 800m warm up won’t be returning? The bleep test is going to stay? Thanks!
Yes that’s right Charlottle. 👍🏻
Greetings Sir! Just got another question to my mind if you let me. I read on the army's website, you may be disqualified due to "knee injuries" and "chronic knee pain". What does this mean exactly? Long term injuries, or history of knee injury? For example if I had a temporary knee injury called "runner's knee" or "ITB band syndrome" which didn't require surgery, does that mean Iam not eligible? Many thanks. 💪
Hi mate,
It will definitely be something they look at and you may get deferred. After this you will have to provide further medical evidence to show them that you are ok.
@@KyleSmithFIT I see. Even with temporary injuries? Like as I mentioned runners knee etc? Which was probably 6 months ago for instance? Iam talking about nothing long term.
@@KyleSmithFIT And last question. What if there's no evidence that I had these temporary injuries that I mentioned? If these happened years ago?
@@KyleSmithFIT And eventually I covered up completely after years?
@@SD-he3pp if it’s not on your medical evidence then you have no problems mate, unless the injury comes up when In training you are fine.
Greetings Sir!
I would like to ask a question about F&C regular service members. How is the process going for instance Irish people in the British Army for higher jobs? I heard you must have a valid visa to "take employment / valid leave to stay and work in the UK entitlement10". How is this process going? You automatically earn it as soon as you serving as a regular member of the British Army, or it takes longer than that? Or is this the "settled status?"
Some thing I don’t have much experience with but I assume if you live in Northern Ireland this will not be the case as it is part of the uk.
@@KyleSmithFIT Just in general if I have Irish citizenship, (Iam wasn't born in Ireland) but I didn't live in Northern-Ireland 'til I got my citizenship, does that mean I don't have the same opportunities as someone who lived in Northern-Ireland?
@@SD-he3pp erm I’m not sure mate best thing to do is to ring the national recruiting line. Number is on the army website. They will be able to help 👍🏻
@@KyleSmithFIT Allright, thanks. Last time I talked to them they said something about vetting process. But nothing about "Northern-Ireland" thing. But I'll call them 💪🏻
Am in the infantry I got 11.2 at AC, a lot of people struggled for paras though think it’s 11.5
Tough score to get, you will need to be able to do that with ease if your going para’s in my opinion.
Is the 2k coming back?
Couldn’t tell you mate sorry
9.10 to join the RAF. 6.6 to join the Army?! That is embarrassing for the Army!!
Not really mate, 8.7 is still infantry requirement for army, but I get what you mean and agree.
@@Ty-qv3ml that's even worse... A potential RAF admin clerk has to do a higher level than someone wanting to join the Parachute Regiment! That is shameful.
@@devon7621 11.6 is for parachute regiment
@@Ty-qv3ml apologies, I read the wrong page, it was the "household cavalry" page I saw, your correct in that the para one is higher, as it should be.... Point still stands though, front line soldier fitness should be higher than the general RAF entry standard shouldn't it?
I know it’s strange, I’m not sure why it is so high.
Is that the same for PRAC?
I’m not 100% sure mate but I’d think so.
@@KyleSmithFIT cheers mate, have you heard about the recruitment website being hacked? Nobody can go ahead with their applications at the moment? Don’t suppose you know how long it’ll last for so you?
@@mancsy3262 yeah mate I have, assessment centres have been cancelled for everyone. I got told a week until it was back up but it had exceeded that now
not looking forward to my bleep test lmao
Yeah it’s tough, but doable 😀
@@KyleSmithFIT i can keep momentum when i’m just running at a constant like 8mph for the 2km but everytime i practice bleep i’m always dying at like 7.5 and need a 7.8 so just need to learn to 180 turn
@@cluelesskiean6956 that’s the one, keep practicing you will get there 👊
Is the 2km run still
Is the bleep test on or 2km
Umm I’m not sure anymore mate just be prepared for any of them. They change it depending on weather conditions normally
Could you clarify for me mate
Thanks for the fast reply
@@fifa23876 well it used to be the 2km run but they changed it due to covid, I am not sure if they have gone back to the 2km run yet or not.
That sucks
