I lived next door to Jerry Koosman in Jackson heights Queens in 1968 and 1969 . My friends Jack and Jeff Quigley 's family rented out the ground floor of their home to him he went two games in 1969 world series.
This was great. Thank you!!! A drop & drive pitcher like Seaver. I froze a couple of pitches where his knee was on the dirt. I was at that playoff game in 73 when Pete Rose & Bud Harrelson went at it. Was sitting in 1st row behind 3rd base. Koozman went right into the pile. If Big Shea didnt collapse then it never will. They did collapse it though, didnt they. Mets won 10-2. Kooz got the win!
It's an embarrassment that it took so long for the Mets to honor this great pitcher and exceptional man. I hope it doesn't take as long to retire The Captain's number 5 and honor him.

What a met legend
Jerry was born in a small town about 8 miles from where i live
Greatest big game pitcher in Met history
Rip .....you were like a father to me
#LGM LETS GO METS ‘69 WORLD SERIES!
awesome
It's so sad that the mets don't know how to honor the all time great players... Kossman Jersey should have been retired 30 years ago
Well, give them credit with new ownership for doing it. At least give them that.
RIP
Koosman was like a father to me
Truly sad we lost this legend
Jerry is still alive but as we know sadly, Seaver passed away!

At the game
*Jerry was always in the shadow of Mr. Seaver, However he has stepped out of it now!*
Man never landed on the moon
