Thank you for the video I am convinced my evap drain is plugged because when I get where I’m going and shut off my van, I hear crackling inside the HVAC box. I do believe that my evap is frozen over.
As far as the A/C drain goes, I thought something was wrong, or missing, on my Chevy Express, but your video shows that there really is just a small square hole that drains onto the fender well. In my Dodge van there was a duckbill valve as a drain out to the ground. It's there to keep insects (or whatever) out. It does get clogged over the years. Simple to clean out though. Thanks again!
Mine didn't have a hose but was dripping from this housing... I cleaned it up and it was still dripping. Thanks for the tutorial! Came here to make sure it is supposed to drip in this fashion. Hope your RV went well.
I do plumbing work and got a 2010 express 2500. About 2 weeks in , water was draining onto the floor from under the dash, this video helped fix that issue, also the ac is way colder now. thank for posting this man.
DUDE! This video saved me some serious $$$! 2006 peeling paint Chevy Express 2500 in SE Florida. Its hot, hot'r and hottest except about 2 weeks in January. I did what you said & if I can do it, most anyone can. Used a wire brush to lightly remove debris from evaporator coil. Then sprayed it down with Purple Power cleaner leting it soak for 5 min then hose it down with fresh water. Repeat a few times until clean & no soap bubbles. Dry it out with compressed air. Clean any debris from vent intake then reassemble. Now the AC is blowing cool enough to condensate the windows! 👍
Thanks so very much!!! It was just as you said and the video was great. I have a 2005 express 3500 and it works just fine. It was leaking on the passenger side floor so I replaced the 2 peice cowling the seals were shot. It leaked anyway so the AC housing was removed and found debris just like yours was. You get five stars ***** with me. Thanks again. Gil
Dude! My carpet was drenched on the front passenger side. I found your video and did what you did. I found that the black plastic housing on my 1997 Express was about half full with leaves! I vacuumed them out and now hope that my wet carpet issues are history. I found that one of the top little screws that hold the black plastic housing was impossible to get to. I ended up pulling real hard on the housing and broke the plastic at that screw attachment point. Not a big deal because all the other screws combined work to seal the housing back up. Thanks for your video!!
Thank you brother... had both of those plugged for the same reason... just didn't know where the drain for evaporator was. I kept having to hit the back of the fan to get the blower motor going. I thought I was going to have to replace it and it turns out it was the leaves keeping it from starting properly
@@justinmay4409 I have repaired just about every quirk regarding these vans... if you're ever having some sort of problem and you're just not sure what is going on come back here and check if it's something I've come across... I'll respond. I have repaired all of the Air-conditioning components that are prone to failure as well as quite a few other things. It's good to have others around that aren't afraid to turn their own wrenches.
Awesome video. Thanks a lot! I used to own a Mopar van (Dodge RAM B 250 Conversion Van) and having a GM video like this really helps. You'd be amazed at how different the systems can be.
Thanks!! Looks just like my 2012. I got some foam cleaner because it smells like mildew, but I couldn’t find the drain tube, because there isn’t one. I’m looking forward to having clean air. 👍
So I think the dials are controlled by vac lines if one is disconnected or cracked then it seems to default to defrost on my van. I don't know if the heater is blown by the same fan you could try going to a yard and pulling that blower fan out and swapping them.
I've got the same problem with my Chevrolet express 3500 cutaway van, and I have been back to the dealership 4 times asking them to fix it. In fact, I am sitting in their lounge right now waiting for them to "assess" the problem. This problem was first noticed when I had it less than 12 months and 12,000 miles. It was bought brand new at the dealership I taking it to in a 4th attempt to get it fixed - Bowser Chevrolet in Monroeville PA, shout out #BowserChevrolet service department for being so incompetent to diagnose the problem the first three times I brought it in. I sit here wondering what they will tell me this time. It currently has 24,000 miles on it. I was and clean this truck regularly, and do not park it under trees etc, and I did not imagine that the drain hole could clog up so easy. But after watching this video, this cover clearly needs to be removed and inspected. It is beginning to look like I should have just gone to RUclips in the first place. If they are still unable to "diagnose' the problem again, I'll take the cover off myself and clean it out.
I just removed the seats, carpets and all and cleaned it out. That carpet under the mat will take a while to dry if you are keeping it. If you don't keep it for sure replace it with a new one because the noise is crazy with no padding in my opinion.
Hey, thxs for the vid. However do you know what size the a crews are to remove the black panel? Thoght they were 1/4 but not....planning a run to harbor freight?

Good Luck with your repair!

Thank you for this video. I've been turning my 07 GMC Savanna short bus into an RV and I've been meaning to check the A/C system for debris.

Hell yeah dude! It's so nice when just a little thing saves the day.

Thanks, that was very helpful. FYI the evaporator drain is just a hole. No tube.

Thats is the evaporator the condenser is in front of the radiator. Looms like a radiator. It cools the freon before going back thru the system
Good vid other than the condenser reference for evaporator it was very helpful thanks.

thanks bud... you made my day....
Thanks for your Insight. It seems like you might had some type of hibernating hot spot for the rodent who chewed the rubber in the vent.
Thank you for the video. It definitely helped a lot.
I did that jod today. Great video
Very helpful.Thank You.
Do you have any info on the heater not blowing? Radiator is cleaned out no leaks just blows cold air as well as the vent choice knob does not work

Condenser? That's a evaporator the condenser is in front of the radiator
Good looking out. I’m not a mechanic.
Well explained !!
Thank you so much
Thx for sharing. Helpful

Thanks for the video I was looking for a hose on mine guess there never was a hose
Joseph eure yeah don’t think they had one on it or if they did the fleet guys pulled it off but I don’t think it’s a big deal.
Thanks!!
How do I drain the water that is already in the floorboard, I can hear it slushing back and fourth.

Sorry I'm not sure
Some folks are askholes.
Excuse me, where does the cabin filter go?
Yo también quiero saber donde va el filtro de cabina , por favor contestamos, gracias
Thanks that helped a bunch
You have to look where the drain hole is there? And then with the help of a screwdriver..plastic ties.... undrained...
It’s actually called an evaporator core bro
I have water leaking in back
Man I can’t get that box out I removed all the screws and still on like something is holding it
Sometimes it be like that. Maybe bump it's sides and stuff as best you can. Sometimes parts just don't like to part.
