Here is my take on the trending "GIve Up Tomorrow" Documentary.
I tried to balance both sides of their stories as objectively as I can, in the way I understood their cases. I ended it with three things I've learned from both parties.

Hello. I’m a law student from the Ateneo de Manila Law school and I just wanna say that you were able to point out the salient points of the case. I’d like to commend you for that. However, I don’t agree with the thought that we should just accept the decision given that it’s from the Supreme Court no less. Well, I read the full decision vis-a-vis I watched the documentary.
In the case at bar, reasonable doubt is still there. And when the element of doubt is still there, by virtue of Pro Reo Doctrine, which says that when in doubt, for the accused, then the decision should have beeen in favor of the Chiong 7.
I don’t like the idea of those law students and lawyers who pre-dispose this case by saying, “The Supreme Court decides in favor of the Chiongs. We should accept it. Besides, the ponente was well-written.”
Remember that SC is not and never infallibe. That just because the ponente was well-written doesn’t necessarily mean it’s outright right!
The bottomline is: SC had to rely on the TSN provided by the lower court- Cebu RTC - regardless of how fraud and flawed the investigation and trial was in the lower court.
And of course, how’d we expect SC to decide on the case given the altered, fabricated, and manufactured evidences in the lower court? They’ll surely decide in favor of the Chiongs.
But was there obstruction of justice to begin with? Were there levels of unconstitutionality in the case? Were there any case of human rights violations? Obviously, Yes. Obviously, there were.
My take away:
To law students: Don’t just memorize the law and its provisions. Think objectively and logically. The law practice isn’t just about memorization. It’s also beyond just passing the bar. Again, THINK. DISSENT, if you have to. It’s never a crime under the Revised Penal Code if we find the decision faulty, and if we question it, regardless if it came from SC.
And to lawyers out there: Lawyering should be a work of advocacy! You didn’t study the law and become lawyers just to agree on what SC feeds you! Yes, they are presumed to be the highest court. Supreme. But they’re never infallibe.
I just read your comment po. Thank you for your valuable input. I do agree na sa case ni Paco hindi talaga na prove BRD. This is such a well written comment which I should pin. I agree on all points kasi may mga nagsasabi nga na yan kasi you didn't read the case. But as you said, I read the case and I don't agree with everything in toto . The video may not be unbiased but it does cast doubts which are reasonable and should have been further looked into.

I watched the documentary a year ago and I cried the whole time watching it. I can’t imagine how the Chiong family & everyone involved manage to live everyday knowing that they ruined innocent people’s lives.

this is something the youtube generation will never understand, just ask the kids growing up in the mid to late 90's who paco and josman are. most will not have favorable things to say about that group based from their own experiences. i am not saying they're guilty or innocent but a 90 minute documentary made by a family member will not give you an unbiased opinion. what we can all agree on, is that trial was poorly done. that case needs to be reopened.

To be fair, the documentary was largely about the defects of the actual trial that needs to be revisited.
And, sa mga pipz na lumaki nung 90s, public opinion on the accussed is not really relevant- especially ito yung generation na lumaki na exposed sa media na mahilig mag sensationalize. DI pa tapos yung trial pero si Teddy Boy parang convinced na guilty yung Chiong 7.

The defense is trying to make it appear like that. But the fact that the decision was upheld by the SC, speaks for itself.

They should have took the DNA test of both side and that’s what the case will be solve, but the prosecution denied the DNA.

I've seen the docu and the most frustrating thing in the case is that the defense was not allowed to present the forensic chemist to determine whether the body they found was of Marijoy which for me the most important thing to establish the case. And why Paco was not allowed to sit on the witness stand to defend himself? I believe Paco and his co-accused had a mistrial..

Thanks po for watching! Try to search the Tweet of Dr. Fortun po. Ung forensic scientist who wanted to testify sana. From the scientific POV kasi, that could have been key to determining their innocence. Sadly, sa pinas, very heavy pa rin ung reliance sa testimonial evidence. But with CCTVs nowadays, hopefully, mas tama na ang investigations. =)
Arbee Tee kaya nga po. Something fishy po talaga sa case na to. The testimony of the FS could have been the strongest evidence of the defense aside from those witssess they presented proving that Paco was in Manila when the crime took place..
Arbee Tee this is beside the case po maisingit ko lang.. ive came accross this particular rape case in our province. Prosecution's case was weak kasi tulog ung rape victim at di nya alam ang nangyari sa kanya. Quack dr po ung accused at dun sya ngpagamot. Nalaman na lng nya na buntis sya kaya mgwonder sya kasi di naman sya nkpagsex kahit sa bf nya. Ung quack dr ung main suspect kasi dun sa ngpagamot (in house). Based on her testimony malabo talaga na maipanalo nya ung kaso. Sa DNA test lng tagala ngpanalo ng kasi kasi ung dna ng bata at ng accused positive.
Thann Kimm for real? Baka talagang intentional xa na dinrug ni quack doctor to do the dirty deed. Iba na talaga ang panahon ngayon.

Supreme court is highest court system of the land kaya dapat irespeto ang desisyon nila? Buhay na yun nakataya dun sa kaso na yun. Dapat lang maging patas sila. What if talagang wala nmn kasalanan yun nakasuhan tapos nakulong pa ng habangbuhay. Unfair nmn yun to think na mayaman pa si larrañaga. Pano na lang kung mahirap yun tao?? Paano kung that time natuloy yun death penalty nila tapos up to this moment nagexist pa din ang death penalty sa pinas? Nakakalungkot lang yun justice system sa pinas.

Eto meron matibay na evidnece na wala si Paco sa Cebu eh talagang idiniin na mismo ng court na sya na nga!!!
My basis naman po actually yung korte sa decision nila. Pero yung sa docu kasi, side nila na hindi pinakinggan o nakita ang pinresent. So weigh both sides talaga. 😉

Paco was in manila when the police caught him and this was already 2 or 3 mos? i forgot.. but it wasnt just weeks after the abduction of the sisters.. So if I were Paco, knowing that the case was sensationalized by the media, he could have just immediately went to Spain and study there instead of just going to manila knowing na anytime pwede talaga xang kunin ng mga pulis..
