Hi Jeff! Lunar Base is a fantastic little tableau/engine building card game. You build your base in front of you using credits and completed 'orbs' of the same color from your base. The bigger your base gets, the easier to build more modules from your hand. Small bit of take-that, but not enough to be mean. Great game from England that didn't get enough love over here. Paul did a great playthrough on Gaming Rules. We will miss this year's DT East unfortunately or I would have found you to play it with! Have a blast in FL!

GenCon is fantastic, especially if staying in a hotel attached to the convention center. Demoing new games, interacting with the publishers, meeting designers, and the special events make this my favorite convention by far. I do like to support small, local conventions to help foster growth of the hobby.

I did GenCon last year - I'll probably chat about that in Ep 22, but suffice to say I'm not planning on going this year...!

Noble Knight sells used games, thought I should mention that, since you mentioned the dented up Star Trek Panic.

Oh I know - this one was just worse off in condition than I usually get from them, and it was listed as "NM/good" or something like that - seemed misleading but I'm not gonna worry about it.

I dread going to a large convention. I am afraid I would not be able to fit everything I buy into my car and/or apartment.
If you are still trying to remember the name of the big convention in Germany, it is called Eating (or Essen in German). At least that's how I remember the name :)

I only get to a couple of conventions a year which is the Dice Tower Retreat and Pax Unplugged. I may get to the Level Up Retreat but not sure yet. Obviously, with the retreats, I'm just gaming but with Pax I do get to do a bit of shopping as well. Wish I could go to more but that means less money for boardgames 😉🤑

Jeff, for your love of space games, combos, a little thinking, I have 2 to highly recommend for you ... 1) kickstarter delivered recently From the Moon $80-90, several youtubers have reviews. 2) Luna Maris - mostly sold in Europe only (see if Dice Tower East has a copy), price is about 50 euros ($60 rounding) but 50 euros to ship to America, this one have a friend who is going to Essen (Germany, largest game board convention probably), pick it up in Europe for you (big favor) - I think a couple of people have it for trade, but it will have a high sticker value over in the USA

I HAVE From the Moon, but haven't played it yet! I'll check out Luna Maris!

I don't really go to conventions. They are loud, I hate when it is crowded, I get anxious when I meet new people.
I have been to one nerd convention in my country and that was not a fun experience.
The con was in a school and societies could book a room so people with the same interest could hangout. One room was held by a board gaming society where you could borrow and play something from their library. I went in there to check it out, maybe play something and try to do something that outside me comfort zone. The people running the room didn't notice me, and were deep in thought playing some heavy euro games. Nobody talked to me. I went to the con alone so I had no company. I left after a minute feeling more alone than ever before. I am thinking maybe conventions are not for me...

Star Trek Panic is a lot of fun and very good connections to the show but it can be really hard. And yes Best Treehouse Ever sorry for the mistype. its very light and mostly a kids game.

Hey, Jeff! You bought Star Trek Panic! Can I come over? 😅 I’ll bring snacks!
Loved the video from your trip to the wind turbines. I had no idea how big those things were out there in the middle of the ocean.
QotW: I haven’t been to any conventions, but I’m planning on DT East next year…hopefully. I don’t want to go to conventions that are primarily for purchasing games/game stuff (GenCon and the like). Too crowded for me. I just want to meet people and play board games.
I hope you have a great time at DT East. Looking forward to hearing about it.

great stuff. just a tip but maybe you should put your name in the title more. i really like your past reviews at dice tower but it took me a while to find your own channel

Thanks and welcome! I was always hesitant of the Dice Tower using my real name as it was - but I guess we're too far down that rabbit hole now to change it... :) Plus Tom doesn't want me mentioning THIS channel on THAT channel, which I can understand. I'm going to chat with him this week about maybe becoming part of the Dice Tower Network, but then again I kinda wanna be able to do my own thing... So we'll see. Glad you found me!!
