30k EV from China looks waaaaay better than Tesla ...without tarrif...America car industry is toast
Well, they screwed over the customers through their evil dealership network. The dealerships slap on so many markups and fees that I've been priced out of the market. My current car can't be replaced because the price soared $3,500 compared to not even 5 years ago.
If Chinese EVs aren’t a threat then why the 100% tariff? It’s utterly stupid forcing people to buy expensive American cars. Protectionism isn’t capitalism. If a company can’t figure it out then it shouldn’t exist.

@@Ahda108 So you are going to vote for Biden? Gooooood.
1) The threat is way less then 10 yrs away
2) the American people can’t afford high end luxury cars so a $10,000 strip down car would be just fine
I have seen Americans only able to afford $20 used tires. Some would even pimp their kids to pedophiles for mere $20.
Yes these people want you in debt forever with American cars 🙄
The analyst in the video above who stated that Americans don't want stripped down cheap new cars isn't factoring in the fact that we've had zero percent interest rates for a long period and that's one of the main reasons why there was low demand for cheap new base cars. Car loans were extremely cheap which meant that even low income Americans could sign up for a 7 or 8 year car loan and buy a big expensive SUV or truck. And that's exactly what they did. Now that we have higher interest rates again and car loans are much more expensive, the demand for a small cheap new car under 20k is much higher!
Also, Chinese cars come in all price ranges and some of them are very high end.
@JoshuaC-Work With loans, yes.
all you talk about is $10k EVs.... china produce 100s of models from $5k to over $100k

@@jd-py5nm that’s great but the Chinese have a communist government and they are our enemy. They steal our intellectual property and are building up their military substantially. I’d never buy one of their cars. Not happy about them making lots of cheap stuff we buy at Walmart and Target either.

China allows foreign automakers JV with local automakers, the same way US did for Japan, Germany and South Korea. However, US is sanctioning and banning JV with Chinese automakers.

Blame it on US bipartisan which flipflops EV policy. Trump will reverse EV if he becomes president.
Thanks to China allowing Tesla 100% foreign automakers ownership in China, Tesla is rejuvenated when the Chinese built the gigafactory. If that's not enough Tesla enjoys the largest Chinese government subsidies when Chinese EV are decades behind Americans.
GM and Ford continue to flipflop between bipartisan EV policy in US, while China is determined to develop new EV technology.

BYD’s exported EV are reliable and high quality, including the Seagull. The issue for most American journalists is they’ve never seen or driven a BYD. Here in Asia, BYD is growing at a staggering rate and Tesla is not. If the US Government prevents Americans from buying low priced, reliable EVs while the rest of the world is paying less for cars, it won’t turn out well.
Us poorer people will just suffer. They'll give tax rebates to the people who can afford 80k expensive EVs, but they'll double the tariffs or block affordable electrics for the masses.
Comparing a Yugo to a BYD shows immense ignorance on the part of the spokesperson. Listen to what Elon Musk said about the BYD and other Chinese made EVs, " they are very good, and if there are no tariffs, Chinese EVs will pretty much demolish all car companies in the world." Quote.

I'm an American working and living in Saudi Arabia. In 2023 Chinese vehicles had a market share of around 16 percent in Oman and 12 percent in both Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, but 8-9 percent in Qatar, Khurshid explained according to Arabian Gulf Business Insight. Here in Saudi Arabia, the people's tastes in cars are about the same as an American's. They have German, Japanese, South Korean, French, American and other cars popular in the US. Current Chinese autos are NOT like the Yugo. You're talking apples and oranges here.
For regions like Hong Kong that do not produce EVs, we are delighted to import what are known as overcapacity EVs.
As for those regions producing EVs, you have two options: either increase your productivity or raise tariffs to protect your auto industry in the short term. However, in the long run, good luck to you.
Hurt poor people, help huge companies.
If China is making cheap, solid, reliable cars they deserves the US market--both ford and GM abandoned these types of cars in favor of high profit $80-100k pick up trucks
US debt= 34 trillion dollars
It’s horrible and astronomical and astonishing and unforgivable.
Fair competition should be equalized. It is because of the lack of competition that Japanese brand cars such as Corolla, Camry, Accord, etc. are twice as expensive in the U.S. as they are in China. In the fully competitive Chinese market, these cars are very cheap, but are currently selling worse and worse. This is due to the abundance of cheaper, but more technologically, interior, and technologically advanced hybrids and pure electric ev models.I think this is bad for American customers.
"the seagull is a stripped down car 😂!!!" This dude has no idea. But if what he said is true? Then why are they so concerned to the point of banning the cars even before they get here?
Maybe we need Chinese vehicles American vehicles are so expensive why not allow more competition. I’m not really understand why other countries can sell their cars here but not china. It sounds like they just want people to be stuck buying over priced cars. Don’t say Americans don’t want to buy cheap cars when I know plenty that would.
