      Well, they screwed over the customers through their evil dealership network. The dealerships slap on so many markups and fees that I've been priced out of the market. My current car can't be replaced because the price soared $3,500 compared to not even 5 years ago.

      The analyst in the video above who stated that Americans don't want stripped down cheap new cars isn't factoring in the fact that we've had zero percent interest rates for a long period and that's one of the main reasons why there was low demand for cheap new base cars. Car loans were extremely cheap which meant that even low income Americans could sign up for a 7 or 8 year car loan and buy a big expensive SUV or truck. And that's exactly what they did. Now that we have higher interest rates again and car loans are much more expensive, the demand for a small cheap new car under 20k is much higher!

I know folks who have and they like them just fine-believe it or not the chinese actually build quality electronics and products just depends on what you buy obviously some won't be but it just takes a model or two to make a substantial dent -look at korean cars and how far they've come and how well they do now

    1:10 You invent new buzz words when you can't compete with them, including national interest, decoupling , derisking, deinvesting, espionage, overproduction and tariff.
    China allows foreign automakers JV with local automakers,the same way US did for Japan, Germany and South Korea. However, US is sanctioning and banning JV with Chinese automakers.

      Blame it on US bipartisan which flipflops EV policy. Trump will reverse EV if he becomes president.
      Thanks to China allowing Tesla 100% foreign automakers ownership in China, Tesla is rejuvenated when the Chinese built the gigafactory. If that's not enough Tesla enjoys the largest Chinese government subsidies when Chinese EV are decades behind Americans.
      GM and Ford continue to flipflop between bipartisan EV policy in US, while China is determined to develop new EV technology.

    BYD’s exported EV are reliable and high quality, including the Seagull. The issue for most American journalists is they’ve never seen or driven a BYD. Here in Asia, BYD is growing at a staggering rate and Tesla is not. If the US Government prevents Americans from buying low priced, reliable EVs while the rest of the world is paying less for cars, it won’t turn out well.

    that guy is l iiing, GM has no any EV technology, the car he refer to is wuling hongguang EV of 5000 dollars manufactured by joint venture (Wuling honguang motor , shanghai motor and GM) the car is completely designed and manufactured by wuling gongguang in guangxi province of china which hold all the EV technology for this car from batteries to everything, the GM was just a investor by holding some shares of the venture, the chinese only wanted to use network of GM for sale, and GM has no any EV technology, nor it can produce any low cost car, of any sort

      BYD has stated numerous times they have no plans to enter the US market
      However the Mexican market has taken off for Chinese EV companies like BYD thus their plans to build factories

    I'm an American working and living in Saudi Arabia. In 2023 Chinese vehicles had a market share of around 16 percent in Oman and 12 percent in both Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, but 8-9 percent in Qatar, Khurshid explained according to Arabian Gulf Business Insight. Here in Saudi Arabia, the people's tastes in cars are about the same as an American's. They have German, Japanese, South Korean, French, American and other cars popular in the US. Don't kid yourselves, the Chinese could put a huge dent in the American auto market.

    Cars today are overloaded piles of crap that cost way to much! I have a 2003 dodge neon with crank windows and 53000 miles, rust free and it works fine! I don't want 25 cameras and 50 other things that will break just to drive to walmart and work!

      The cars today is run by a computer so the individual can't work on them if they don't have a 13 thousand dollars to buy the the computer to tell you what's wrong. The vehicles from 1975 down anyone could repair the vehicle without a problem. Points normally would have to be replaced. Money is why they make them run by a computer system

    The coming of Chinese EVs shouldn't be compared with Toyota vs the big 3. Rather it should be compared with Gopro drone vs DJI. Gopro doesn't make drones anymore.

    What you guys failed to understand that a 10,000 Chinese car has luxury items and features that an American manufacturer can't even touch that's the point. If an American manufacturer makes a $10,000 Ev it's going to be a piece of junk like a lot of the other combustible engine cars that are below a certain price point that American manufacturers make.

    For regions like Hong Kong that do not produce EVs, we are delighted to import what are known as overcapacity EVs.
    As for those regions producing EVs, you have two options: either increase your productivity or raise tariffs to protect your auto industry in the short term. However, in the long run, good luck to you.

    Fair competition should be equalized. It is because of the lack of competition that Japanese brand cars such as Corolla, Camry, Accord, etc. are twice as expensive in the U.S. as they are in China. In the fully competitive Chinese market, these cars are very cheap, but are currently selling worse and worse. This is due to the abundance of cheaper, but more technologically, interior, and technologically advanced hybrids and pure electric ev models.I think this is bad for American customers.

    Maybe we need Chinese vehicles American vehicles are so expensive why not allow more competition. I’m not really understand why other countries can sell their cars here but not china. It sounds like they just want people to be stuck buying over priced cars. Don’t say Americans don’t want to buy cheap cars when I know plenty that would.       most countries and states are going to ban the manufacturing of internal combustion vehicles by 2030 to 2035.

      @@DW-op7ly the price has corrected 50% from the top, we are in 2020 levels, and the market capitalization is 8 times cheaper than Tesla. BYD is technologically superior than Tesla, it makes the full cars at home, without buying any component from third parties unlike Tesla. Tesla has also corrected more than half from the top, this makes BYD to have a potential 2000% return (and even more in the long run).

    China is also thinking of imposing 25% tarrifs on US and EU automobile companies,China being the largest market will effect US EU companies even with 25% tarrifs,Chinese EV are growing rapidly in south American countries,they have EV manufacturing unit in Mexico from where its exported to south American countries making it much cheaper,either way US car industry will loose

    When did automakers ever sell any cheap car? Not in any recent time. And yet, the producers just say, "That market doesn't exist." Well, definitely no, because you made them EXTINCT! It’s a shame that Americans have no choices for cheap cars nowadays, mainly because politicians want votes and propaganda. Bring back the freedom and choices for cheap products!

      Common misconception is it’s the car battery that catches fire
      Yes in some cases that happens but in most cases it’s the improper charging, the charging station or the wiring of the building itself

      Err sorry.. Chinese LFP batteries like the ones in this car is virtually fireproof unlike the Japanese and Korean NMC batteries in Teslas. Do educate yourself before regurgitating anti-EV FUD

      NTSB showed statistics of one year of fires in U.S. for ICE vs EV (per 100K units sold). EV fires 25 vs ICE 1530. Maybe you should, just for precaution, your ICE car in the driveway.

      20 years ago Americans used to say they will never buy products made in China. Today US China trade deficit is over 100 of billions a year and in favor to China.
      I never believe there is an American home in US without any Chinses products. From kitchen wares to cellphone, furniture, clothing and electrical items.

      The 2.4 liter 22R engine was the best engine Toyota ever made.
      They ran forever and were easy to repair.

      Chinese are selling EV pickup trucks in Mexico these days
      If their trucks got into the USA American car manufacturers would have to lower their vehicle prices to compete
      Making it a win win for you as you get a cheaper ICE truck of your wishes
      But that would never happen
      As the Chinese don’t plan to enter the US market and America does not plan to let them

      So, what's wrong with letting Chinese EVs into the U.S. at a reasonable tariff? Nothing, if they sell then competitors will have to innovate, if they don't sell they will exit the market. BYD and CATL make the best EV batteries for EVs, the Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) blade batteries.
      Just go to Wally World and see where all the hard goods (products) are made. Most if not all are not Made in America, period.

    China makes 100’s of thousands of EV and then parks them. They are not sold, they do it to say they build the most EV’s. I’ve seen reporters that have gone into China and film many of square miles of new rusting “new” EV’s.

    If you are catering these cheaper EV for those who can’t afford the current astronomical priced EV’s being manufactured !
    The cost to instal charging stations at home or having to wait in line for hours to charge up your new ride is still there !
    What about those living in low income housing ! Do you think charging stations will be subsidized for every unit !?
    It sickens me how little has been thought out for this new industry !
    State and Federal governments haven’t a clue !

      A charging port at home will cost about $250 and you can just let it charge when you come back from work or overnight.
      Charging stations will also be around low income housing.
