Private funeral held this afternoon for the Bee Gees star Robin Gibb who died two and a half weeks ago, at the age of 62, after battling a long illness.
Remembered by people the world over as a pivotal member of the super group, the Bee Gees -- along with his brothers Barry & Maurice, Robin co-wrote Night Fever -- one of their many smash hits of the disco era. The tune became the anthem for cult movie Saturday Night Fever, starring a youthful John Travolta.
The 1960s and 1970s saw the band have a string of hits like Staying Alive and How Deep is Your Love. Robin made music right through to the present day, even collaborating with a Russian starlet on her debut album.
Although there'll be no access to the service for TV cameras, fans were able to see Robin Gibb's funeral cortege drive through his former home of Thame in Oxfordshire this afternoon before the private service at St Mary's Church. His magnificent mind and beautiful heart forever on.

I was 8 years old when I heard my older sister play the BeeGees on her record player for the first time. I was instantly in love. I am 63 now and nothing’s changed! I play at least 1 Bee Gees song everyday (my workout playlist)!! My heart broke when Maurice passed, then Robin and my sister 3 years ago. She loved The Bee Gees as well. RIP Maurice, Robin, Andy and Mary. Miss all of you.

Thats the hardest part of getting older. Losing the people closest to you. The people that made you who you are today, brought you joy, and was there for you all your life. I understand the feeling after losing my parents here recently. Never gets any easier. I'm sorry.
@@TheRealdeel73 Sorry for your loss. I’ve already lost my mom, older brother and sister. My dad is 90 with dementia. Feels like we lose a little more of him everyday. He fell yesterday and broke his hand in 2 places. I’m not sure which is worse, to lose a family member suddenly or watch him disappear right before our eyes.

What a glorious funeral for such a man as He...what a beautiful tribute to Robin Gibb. He left us so many wonderful songs that will touch future generations hopefully. There's no sound like the Bee Gees and there never will be again. Barry remains left for us to cherish until he finally joins his beloved brothers in Heaven some day. Indeed, nobody gets too much Heaven.
The wonderful Bee Gees. Will always remember Robin, who had a wonderful voice and never tire of listening to them. RIP Robin and Maurice.

What a enormous loss to the world. Robin was such a gentle, kind person and what a wonderful voice he had. Today's singers don't have one iota of his talent.
This gentle, kind person was no saint! He was addicted to drugs, and sex-mainly watching his wife with other women, and hired a hit man to kill her. Just because someone has talent, doesn't mean they are good human beings!
Robin and Dwinna both admitted that, that never happened. And even if it did. Who are you to judge?? That's God,s place not ours. Everyone has made mistakes and done things we shouldn't have. Well they were only human too. Just like us. Why don't you try being respectful. ( Miss I'm me.)

@@robertaclark5185 Actually, I've been reading the opposite. He publicly has said, his wife was a lesbian and bisexual with him. He admitted he and they cruised for sex. They both liked to watch and because they were in an open relationship, they also had their own affairs without each other. He had another kid from an affair that lasted 8 years with their housekeeper. That seems to be the only one she didn't know about, as I read she was deeply hurt. I couldn't care less about their private lives, but when the original poster put him on a pedestal bragging about how good he was, that's when I posted, not so good. Whatever you read about them denying it, could be true, but I haven't seen it. I did read that she was worried about what his family, mainly his mom and their child, would think about him going public about her. He admitted to having over 100 affairs when he was married to Molly..I'm sorry, but that doesn't sound like a good person to me. Then, when you factor in all the other stuff, it really doesn't! Which was all I was pointing out.

So sad, Barry outlived all his younger brothers. Loved, loved, loved the Bee Gees, loved Barry's falsetto & Robin's vibrato, loved the harmonies, the music, what a unique group, their music will always live on. When I hear any of their 1970s hits on the radio--and there were a ton--I think of being young, healthy, single and carefree. A great time in my life. They also write songs for other artists: "Grease," (Frankie Valli), "Emotion" (Samantha Sang), "If I Can't Have You" (Yvonne Elliman), "Islands in the Stream" (Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton), "Woman in Love" & "Guilty" (Barbra Streisand & Barry Gibb), "Heartbreaker" (Dionne Warwick), not to mention the songs written for Andy Gibb, all huge hits. Did you know that in March of 1978 the Bee Gees had 5 hits in Billboard's Top 10: (Love Is) Thicker Than Water, Staying Alive, Emotion, How Deep is Your Love and Night Fever. No one had dominated the charts like that since the Beatles in 1964. My only regret was that I was never able to see the Bee Gees in concert. I still love their music and always will.
Brings back many memories for me as well , young single, and "You should be dancing!". That was the greatest thing back then, we all loved to dance. They didn't get the recognition that they should have. They were so awesome!

Sadly I lost my beloved brother 4weeks ago .I couldn't even attend his funeral due to this cov19 .one day I will return to Scotland when this cov19 is gone to say my final goodbye to my beloved big brother and remember the times we danced in the front room to the bee gees. R.i.p jimmy !!

These guys have been in my life for the last 50 years, love all of them. I introduced my children to them many years ago and now my grandchildren. My grown up adult children still listen and love their music, my grandkids are now learning about the “oldies” music and think it’s great.. the Bee Gees unique style of music will live forever and I don’t think will every be replicated. They were and still are are in a class of their own. 🎶🇮🇪😷

What about Andy he may not have been 1 of the Bee Gees but he was still one of the brothers who passed away l lost 1 brother in 1985 so l know what its like to lose a brother and a parent because my father passed in 2015 just days after his 80th birthday
