- The Google Home Hub Cooking, Cookbook, and Recipes Features In Your Kitchen
The Google Home Hub and other Google Assistant Smart Displays are fantastic devices in your kitchen. The new Cookbook feature on the Google Home Hub makes it a replacement for all those old cookbooks in your home, and the recipes capability as a whole is a great feature for your kitchen.
Watch as I walk through the different components of Google Home Hub and the Lenovo Smart Display in your kitchen environment. They're fantastic products and the cookbook feature just puts them over the top. You'll need at least R5 in the Lenovo Smart Display to access this though.
Additionally, I walk you through how to use the recipes feature as well as how to use the new shopping list feature.
If you're on a PC or Mac and you want to access your new "Collections" feature, it's here: google.com/saves. This is my belief for the replacement of lists, FYI.

Would love to see more about how you add your own recipes to the cookbook - many folks are really struggling to figure that out!!
Yeahhhh, if I could help with that I would! I haven't found a good solution just yet, but I'll have another look Ashley.
Love to see this too
Any updates on this? I’d also like to know how to add my own recipes
Yes that's what I'm looking for too.
Same
Another great video Brian, thank you. Easy to follow and understand. Just yesterday I was making bread from my own recipe and wondered if there was a way I could notate the recipe to my Google Home Hub for later retrieval. I use the Shopping List feature a lot, I guess it wouldn't be too hard for Google to adapt it into an ingredient list, or a recipe builder function. Perhaps it's just easier to use one of the existing cooking sites and add my recipe there. Does anyone have a favourite site for this?
I love my Lenovo Smart Display, the cookbook functionality is awesome 👍
It’s really good! Did you notice the new shopping list capability?
I just got one of these (the nest) to use in the kitchen for recipes, I’m tired of getting my grimy fingers on my phone and vice versa!! Love this review so I can get the most of it and understand it more!
Thanks Miranda! Glad to help out someone with this video!
If the Google Home Hub had a portable battery it would make it more efficient to just move it around say from the wired living room to the kitchen temporarily for cooking something.
Great point
Only takes 2 seconds to unplug and plug something though lol
Enter: Pixel Tablet
Thank you.
Wonderful video, Brian. I was playing with these settings the other day and found them quite useful. Personally, I am waiting for the KitchenAid with its washable surface.
Yeah that’s a very interesting device. For now I’ve deployed my big Lenovo Smart Display in the Kitchen
Is there a way to allow multiple users to access to same cookbook. Both my wife and I cook but since I set things up here voice match doesn't allow her to access the cookbook and it doesn't seem like she can add her own
Set her up with her own account on Google Home to do this. Sharing...I don't think you can
Should allow you to export ingredients to shopping list! That would be a great improvement.
Sorry auto correct....
For sure! I’m absolutely sure this is a step in the process. I mean...it’s there already. Add a button. Push data.
So cool.. I am wondering, do any of these devices have rationalization? I have to use high contrast on a PC and my iphone and would love if these devices had this option
There are accessibility options cap’n! Check out my Lenovo Smart Display full setup video and jump to that part

@@AutomateYourLife THABK YOU!! That makes me happy.. Love your channel..
The only problem we have found is that not everyone can get into the cookbook. My girls cookbook is separate from mine.
Not sure what to do?
Nothing. That's intended. You have voice recognized cookbooks
@@AutomateYourLife thank you. For your response.
Does the Google Nest Hub Max and Lenovo work the same for recipes with the commands and google assistant reading out to you?
Yep!
Thank you for this video. How do I link the partner websites to my hub nest?
You really can't still. Not the whole site, sorry
Hey hope you can help me please! I've been trying to save an specific recipe to my cookbook from my phone so I can see it in my Google home hub but it just doesn't work ☹️ when I say the command it just open options of website with "solutions". I've tried to voice search that recipe directly on the hub but it just doesn't show it, it does show another recipes from the same website tho... Any idea? Also when I search for the recipe on Google it doesn't appear on the list of recipes so I can either pulse the cook now button that connects directly to the hub.
Hey Claudia - It's likely that the site you're trying to use isn't partnered with Google to do what you're trying to do...but try adding it manually here: www.google.com/collections
@@AutomateYourLife this works! Thank you so much😊
Wasn't the cooking feature already available since launch? (not the save function)
Yep! I thought it was good to put it all together :)
@@AutomateYourLife Ohh I gotcha, was just a little confused for a second 😂 Great video, as always!!
Can you make your own recipes to save on there as well?
Sadly, not yet. :)
@@AutomateYourLife still nothing? No apps that work with the hubs either, as far as I know. As log as the cooking fature won't support recepies other than the ones it finds I this features useless...
i cant decide on what device i should get for recipes in my kitchen can anyone help me on whats better google home vs echo show??
In the Kitchen, get the Google Nest Hub Max. 100%
@@AutomateYourLife thanks I'm building my own home next year and want to start my smart home to grow over time. I have a echo plus currently and find it great for my alarms and timers and my harmony hub. Only reason I have one is because I got it as a bundle with a Phillips bulb. My new home will have wifi led downlights no hub needed so I'm wondering what's better in the whole house in every room google or alexa? Also I'm in Australia and I find the alarms in alexa easier to find
How come you don’t have to always hey google?
Oh I do! I just cut them out so your Google's don't constantly wake up!
I also use continued conversations, so that helps a bit. :)
What about support for my own recipes?
Oh I'm sure that's coming Louis. That's part of that collections thing I talked about. You could also go to some of those sites and put in your own and then save them on your Hub.
@@AutomateYourLife Do you know which sites allow you to upload your own recipes. I've been looking but can't find one.
Sadly, I still haven’t seen anything....
I believe allrecipes.com
Can you add your own recipes to the cook book?
Still...no :(
Curious if anyone has a recommendation on a site to put my recipes on a site to get access to them from GH.
Hey Tom - do you mean the base Google Home?
@@AutomateYourLife I use Lenovo Smart Display in the Kitchen. I am looking for a way to get one of my own recipes into the cook book. I am guessing they have to be web-based so I need to find a site to add them to so it will get to my smart display.
Yeah, I think that’s what has to happen. I have a list of the sites on this video, but this is a common request so I’ll be doing a bit of work to find one :)
Enjoying your videos & finding them it very informative!...a recommendation Please less hand movement seems like it's the norm for many You Tubers...annoying!
Ahahahahaha! Fair enough John! Thanks for the suggestion. To be honest...it’s just the way I talk, not even a YT thing. In any case, you’re not the first to say it and I’ll continue to work on it!
