Max Power Every case does not have the same scheme. Sure it has some repetitive steps in how the team conducts the investigation, but that is the very nature of procedurals because there has to be a pattern on how they approach each case. To many, that is not boring but rather comforting. Plus they do it very well so I don't see a problem in that.

It allows for the audience to not only sympathize with the main cast, but also occasionally sympathize with the criminals. It asks the question most criminal shows never focus on: Why?

The 'Mentalist' was my favorite until 'Red John' was killed then it became just 'MentalAngst' between Jane and Lisbon and how the hell can you leave 'Elementary' in the gutter????
Well, it's not like they didn't drag the whole Red John thing out too long anyway (Series was at it's best at strawberries and cream, season 3 finale). Once they killed him off they were pretty much looking to wind the series down to a finish. Considering how many shows get cut before they can even conclude- or at best, try to wrap everything up super fast, it's kind of nice that they could finish the main conflict and then wrap things up a little more nicely over a couple half seasons.
To be honest, I loved the final seasons. I thought they had the best cases, and going to the FBI was a good idea. The new characters were really good, too.

It's cool that you mentioned "Law and Order: SVU" as one of the spin-offs of "Law and Order," but I hate that in the same break you didn't mention "Law and Order: Criminal Intent." Vincent D'Onfrio was absolutely fantastic as Goren, the brainiac detective that can break down the crime and get his perp, and Kathryn Erbe as his partner Eames, who was pretty tough in her own right. For all of Goren's brilliant work, he was haunted by demons in the form of the twisted Nicole Wallace (Olivia d'Abo) who would screw with his head at every turn (and leaving bodies in her path), his druggie brother Frank (Tony Goldwyn) who nearly costs him his career, and the late great Roy Scheider as Mark Ford Brady, the death row inmate that throws a curve-ball at Goren when he reveals a secret about his dying mother (Rita Moreno). D'Onfrio had to give up the full time of the show, giving time for Chris Noth's Logan from the original show and Jeff Goldblum's Nichols to cover cases. An intense show that lasted for 10 seasons. It was a good ride.

I love PD too. But it’s rather new and isn’t all that realistic. So I understand why it hasn’t been mentioned
My favorites and best shows are NCIS,NCIS:LA,Hawaii five-0(2010),MacGyver(2016),
SWAT(2017),Generation kill,Seal Team and lucifer.
Of course, Mcgyver was cool

I watched it from the beginning and still watch it on demand. It's the best and True Detective and The Shield are a close second.
