    I’ll say this about the Grimsmo’s:
    They know how to package their product! I do like the Norseman, and this Rask looks equally as good. Only other knife that simple to disassemble that I can recall would be a CRK. Just wish it was more “efficient” to purchase, it’s ludicrous to have to partake in a “lottery” style system in 2018. Good job D-Frunk!

      Thank you! I also wish these were more readily available, but I understand supply/demand. But oh well.

    At $1000+ we have moved into "knife art" 4 sure...

    The 2-pin solution makes a heck of a lot of sense when you think about it. No compromises need to be made as far as geometry and positioning. Has anybody _ever_ used the Nano Oil supplied with the knife? I wouldn't worry too much about the face reveal. Whenever you're comfortable with it. I honestly don't think people will really care one way or another when they find out you're a one eyed transvestite Eskimo.

      LOL Tony, you're supposed to keep that a secret!

      slidetek ... D. Myers had a good respose in his video about a better way for him to get around the two stop pins using custom lock inserts, was kinda cool/interesting i thought.

    I did it ! I bought a large sebenza 21 with bog oak inlay and I’m not looking back next month I’m buying the small sebenza 21 box elder burl. Like you said it’s only a matter of time before you get there I know your busy guy but check out my video if you get a chance. If not no worries. Just letting you know I’m not far behind LOL. GOING BROKE 😂😂😂

      Congrats my friend. You are on a slippery slope. To the homeless shelter.

    You could do a face reveal with Nick Shabbaz at Blade Show, but make it a group picture with 20 other people and don't tell anybody who is who. Sort of a Where Is Funkdo? :D But in all seriousness, I wouldn't do a "face reveal video" if you film during Blade Show, you can appear on camera for a interview with some makers perhaps, in a more casual setting, but I wouldn't do anything that focuses just on the face reveal.

      That actually sounds like a good idea. Just kinda casually let it out. Not make a deal out of it. Thanks.

    That is the exact rask I would order if I had the choice.

    Beautiful knife but I think the Grimsmo brothers should upgrade the steel. RWL34 is ok but it's not a super steel. When you want to produce a high end piece like this you need to select a high end steel.

    • @DoctorFrunkey
      @DoctorFrunkey  6 лет назад +1

      I would say RWL is indeed a high end steel. But just not perfect. for $1000, it should be perfect.

    I think it's the detent ball or system that has an equal or bigger effect on action smoothness than the washers/bearings. If you eliminate the detent friction even a $20 knife on bearings blade will swing freely like a pendulum. Rather than pushing for ever smoother more complicated pivots maybe makers should find ways to smooth out the detent more or just insure it's as high quality and free as the pivot washers. For example the boker urban trapper gentlemen has a detent track cut into the blade and it has a very free action for how extremely lightweight the blade is.

      You are correct. In fact, the Grimsmo's have done this by flattening the detent ball. I did not discuss it here and should have.

    The milling pattern on the inside would be great even outside. I really like how you keep your videos short and sweet, but cover all the basics and need to knows.
    Looks like a good knife, would you consider getting one, given the chance?
    Thanks for the videos Doc, keep them coming 👍🏼

      Ankur Sureka thanks for the kind words my friend. Yes I highly recommend this knife. But at $1000, it will have to wait for a while. I think there are other more interesting pieces at this price.

      Doctor Frunkey I agree. The question on value for money keeps on lingering. Great knife for sure, the engineering is up there, so is the execution. Would love to handle one at some point.

    Interesting what knife companies do to innovate and make a great knife, but if it works!!! It works

    Hello Doc., that’s a very interesting video. That knife is even gorgeous on the inside. You got to had it to the Grimsmo’s, they pay attention to detail. Thanks for sharing!

    You forgot to lube it up... Nick Shabazz would have used half a bottle of 10 weight nano oil.. 🤣🤣🤣 love that knife... hava super great day!!!

    • @DoctorFrunkey
      @DoctorFrunkey  6 лет назад +2

      I had lubed it on the previous takedown. I just wanted to show the ease of maintenance. And these bearings need very little oil. very clever design.

    I get what you're saying about a face reveal. However, I feel the anonymity adds to the focus on the product instead of the on-air personality.
    For example, compare the channels of Nick Shabazz vs. The Urban Gentry. Personally, I prefer the former.

    • @DoctorFrunkey
      @DoctorFrunkey  6 лет назад +1

      Exactly. I dont want these videos to be about me. Just a showcase of a knife and some information. I do not mind if my face is shown but I don't want to detract from the experience with my stupid face haha. Everyone has a face, a few have a Grimsmo Rask haha
